I still laugh when Arthur suggested Clark and him started a superhero group the "Junior Lifegaurd Association" and Clark replied "I don't think the world is quite ready for the JLA just yet."
@Julian Nicolas I have connection problem in flixzone if I every press try again it doesn't work huhuhuh I think I can watch smallville on the said app
One thing I loved about Smallville is how natural and organic, the DC universe grew and expanded as the audience grew up alongside Clark during his journey. As Clark matured and began to learn more about his Kryptonian heritage as well as becoming more like Superman, so did the world around him. It also show how influential and big of a role Clark/Superman plays in the superhero community without saying blanket statements. Bart Allen, the first non Kryptonite infected metahuman he met who also abused his power when he was just trying to live a normal life and was seeking to create the Fortress of Solitude, Green Arrow/Justice League (the first costumed heroes Clark ever met) and Martian Manhunter (first alien/Non-Kryptonian hero) during his quests to stop the Phantom Zone escapees and Lex was creating 33.1 to show how Clark should be a more proactive hero and the path he could take. The JSA coming when Clark Kent was focused on being the Blur and becoming more of a Justice League member and giving them a lesson of the past while the Legion shows hints of his potential future but also to live in the present. Booster Gold to help show an example of what being a public hero could be and embracing the flashy side of being a superhero. While Clark showing them the heart of a hero and being the hero that the public embraces and everyone follows into the light. The Wonder Twins, shows how important and influential Clark can be on the younger generation of heroes. Then when he becomes Superman, that’s when he meets Batman, Wonder Woman, GL, the Justice League is officially formed and everything comes full circle. This show displays why Superman is such an important cornerstone of the DC universe.
Here's a tough fact I have to hit you with. Smallville wouldn't make it in today's climate. By today's standards, even cw standards, it would be called corny and cheesy and be panned and it wouldn't have made it more than 2 seasons. Yes I like It too but it's good it came when it did, it couldn't work today, at all.
@@willcusterjr2519 I’m not counting Arrowverse COIE. If anything it’s an Earth with similar events to Smallville but a different ending (even then it still said he had his time at Superman before he retired). I think Season 11/ series finale is how it ended
The producers went by the motto "No flights, no tights", as they wanted to explore the maturation of a very young teenager named Clark Kent into the iconic Superman over the course of several years. If you've seen the series, you'll know that we only see Kal-el as Superman, wearing the costume, and exercising controlled flight, in the very last episode. It was the payoff everyone patiently waited for, and it worked beautifully.
@@davidanderson2357 nah after season 5 show falls off heavy. Plus if I was a teen with superpowers you already know id be flying as often as I could lol
that seems to be the problem with both Marvel and DC...everyone can fly, everyone has the same powers now and no one is unique or special anymore. No wonder people in super hero stories write comics about Plumber man, who can drain any clog.....or FireFighter guy, who...fights fires! Id rather hear stories about normal people for once, this chit is insanely stupid now.
If Bruce met a superhero that doesn't have a problem with killing, then batman's toast. A simple .45 to the head and it's over, no need to toss him into the sun or anything.
Lee Thompson Young was amazing as Cyborg and a good guy from what I heard. I still miss him and he left a great legacy. Smallville is my favorite show ever and he made me very proud to be a Smallville fan as did all the guest stars like Kyle Gallner.
@P A yeah I love the show too. Smallville will always be my favorite show but Superman & Lois is in my top five of Superman shows. I’d say it’s right behind Smallville for me.
The Flash Aquaman Cyborg Green Arrow Martian Manhunter Supergirl Black Canary The Legion 3 Zatana Hawkman Dr Fate After season 5 this show broke its biggest rule No Tights No Fights but the problem is they were running out of ideas and trying to condense the Clark Kent Story so they had to introduce new DC heroes and villains to explore the further adventures of Clark Kent and journey of becoming Superman. Due to copyright laws and other legal aspects some names and characters were changed or not used at all this included Batman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.
While a lot of Smallville doesn't hold up to todays standards, it was ahead of it time. Imagine if this show was made with today's technology and effects (but by people who aren't rushed and overworked) Definitely one of the better live action superhero shows. Even in todays oversaturated market.
Did Smallville add in a Dylan Sprayberry as his co-star Tyler Posey. So he has acted alongside his younger counterpart in Man of Steel and tyler hoechlin in Teen Wolf.
Smallville Clark was always a jack of all trades master of none. The meteor infected had the advantage of Clark's weakness to Kryptonite. Nearly all of the other superheroes were better than Clark in one or more aspects. Flash and Aquaman were quicker, Arrow and Cyborg were more intellegent, Zatanna, Fate and Hawkman all had magical elements, Clark is more vulnerable to high pitched noises so Canary has an advantage. Though I think all that works well, one of the things that make me ignore Superman stuff for so long was how do you make a good story if your hero has all this power.
@@laptopkulinux5465 Exactly this and what the entire premise of the show is about, seeing a young Kal El grow into being Superman where he later learns to harness all his powers, learns to control them, learns to overcome things like the Black Canary screaming at him. You see it in other Superman shows, like when General Zod comes to earth and needs to adjust to all the different noises and atmosphere, something Superman has already done by living here his whole life.
As much as I love the green arrow on smallville I would of much prefer to have Clark and Bruce instead of Clark and oliver but I get it no batman on TV 😕
@@chrisjames350 Even today they barely started using and dropping the Batman and Bruce Wayne name. CW doesn't have the rights to Batman WB dose so they use the character as much as WB let's them.
@@rickythemaddragonxiong8757 it wasn't even really copyright, it was DC and WB's dumbass idea that having multiple versions of characters on screen would confuse people, so whenever a character was planned to appear in a film that character couldn't appear in TV whatsoever, it's why characters like Deadshot and Amanda Waller were suddenly killed off, only now have they realized their rules are dumb and they've eased up on it.
What I liked about the Smallville episode with Impulse... When Clark tracks him down... And he reads all the ID's Bart has... The names are as follows... Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Wally West... 😏😁😁
I remember replaying 5:45 over and over when that ep came out. And don't even get me started on the end of "Run". These kids today just don't get how epic everyone of these moments were at the time. In the preMCU days this was all we had lol.
THANK the dead gods there is this timestamp in the comments.... who is that at 545? Bad memory, so i dont wanna watch the whole series to relearn all this stuff ahahahaha
I wouldn't trust today's Hollywood even copy-paste with the exact same dialog... They still find a way to ruin something so beloved. Smallville isn't perfect but it is special for so many reasons. I'm not against the remastered/upscaled version though.
Nah! Too much wokeness going on out there. Somebody will end up being gay and a superhero who was originally white will be turned black or Hispanic. Thanks but NO THANKS!
Smallville brought more DC comics characters than ANY DC shows, that is why it is STILL the greatest DC tv show EVER!! CW tv shows isn't EVEN CLOSE. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
...nah, Superman & Lois is a better Superman show. And its produced by CW. But, smallsville was good for its time, it was just a bit to "soapy", same with flash and supergirl... too soapy. shows like Titans Superman & Lois present more action, thriller, to the point. Playing out like a movie on a screen.
I love and miss this show. Watched as a kid. Loved it so much that even when I was grounded and in trouble my mom still let me watch the new episode when it aired. Miss shows being 20+ episodes and only needing a few months between seasons. Just wish we got more time with Welling in the suit. Also thought it cool we share the same birthday
Cool seeing this Alan Ritchson I knew what destined for big things, my man that played Green Arrow, Man of Steel Lois first Supergirl, Dave Bautista ..wow...appeared on the series . Love these first meetings like right out of comicbooks. Yea rest in heaven Thompson
aquaman actor (alan ritchson) is now playing jack reacher in the amazon tv series, for those of you that wanna see more of him :) bonus points, lana lang's actress (kristin kreuk) also plays charlene hubble in the same show
Man i cannot wait for the new animated show! The only thing i have in the mean time is a podcast "Somebody Save Me" just came out and now i am reliving my childhood.
I liked the idea of Smallville. I found the actual execution and telling of Clark's journey somewhat inconsistent and, at times, frustrating. They kept nerfing Clark's powers as needed to make him weaker than the antagonist of the week. He was capable of something amazing one episode and then incapable of stumbling out of his own way the next. I could not stay engaged with it. I wanted to like it so bad, but it just left me feeling disappointed too often. I just stopped watching.
not really , if he just bodied everyone all the time no effort Smallville would have died well before it did , and Clark always found a way , or did you choose to forget that so you can bitch !? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@timothyscott1951that’s the challenge of writing a superman story though. he IS capable of anything. so the challenge is to write a conflict which can’t be overcome by godlike power. a MORAL conflict, which needs a human heart to solve. that’s what all the most powerful superman stories do. you’re saying you can’t think of any kind of threat for superman to face except for a test of brute strength? you’re a lot like the smallville writers, then. same problem with The Flash. kept nerfing his speed. it’s like, the entire challenge is to create a conflict which couldn’t be directly solved by super speed! seeing a person just drive away on a motorcycle and barry just stands there watching… it’s ridiculous. it’s bad writing. you need to earn your obstacles as a writer. if a woman is falling from a building, there is NO REASON superman shouldn’t be able to save her, unless a train is being derailed or something. boom. that’s a choice, that’s a moral obstacle. we call that a dilemma.
I miss Smallville! I still watch it today, on Hulu! I was in Middle school 4/5th grade! I loved Superman but I became a huge Fan! Someone told me to try Superman & Lois! I haven't tried any other superheros shows except 1 season of Gotham but everything else can't beat Smallville! Gotham was good til season 2!
I need a help with a few names. 0:20 Flash - obviously 1:20 Aquaman 2:20 Cyborg 3:43 Greem Arrow 5:01 - Aldar (who's Aldar?) - I recognized Dave Bautista so I looked it up. 5:50 John Jones (though I don't understand the Oreo Cookie that clark steps on) 6:07 Supergirl (kicked Clark's ass) 7:09 Black Canary (she kicked Clark's ass - hehe). 8:43 . . . don't know 9:19 . . . (telekinetic powers) don't know 9:25 . . . (looks like mind powers) don't know 9:30 . . . (electrical powers) don't know 10:10 . . . Zatana 11:28 Hawkman 11:37 Dr. Fate 11:42 Star Girl Corrections and the 4 missing names welcome.
Aldur was just a villain of the week meant to show how powerful Martian Manhunter was, the Oreo cookie is John's favorite cookie but it's a obviously a different brand for copyright. The guy with the Axe is Persuader and you have Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad and Cosmic boy from the Legion
The three you don't know are from the Legion of Superheroes, in the future. That was Cosmic Boy (super-magnetism), Saturn Girl (mental abilities) and Lightning Lad (lightning, of course). They are from the 31st century. Superboy joins the legion and has many adventures with them by time-traveling to their time. I had many many issues of the Legion as a kid.
As much as I love Smallville as it is, I do wish we got an episode where Clark meets Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince (Yes, I know about the comics, but I’m talking about the actual show and before any of them put on costumes).
@@whyisblue923taken ah I forgot about those they were awesome if I remember correctly they saved Lois and helped Clark Kent identity be kept hidden via the smoke screen
For me this is the best way the DC heroes meet, feel very natural. Another example is Justice Society: World War II when Flash and Superman team up. I also like that the other heroes were kinda better than Clark in there respective powers and abilities even though Clark will or might surpass them in the future, it's thanks to them in a way that Clark got better skill-wise, since Clark was already good moral-wise thanks to his Father when he met the other heroes. Strange 4:57 - 6:05 and starting here 8:44 I've never seen the rest, huh must have skipped a few episodes. Also RIP Rest In Peace, Lee Thompson Young AKA Jett Jackson.
And now Jonathan has the world's worst case of whiplash! C'mon, Arthur, don't cop a feel while rescuing the girl. Victor, Man of Steel, not of Stone. If you're so tough, Clark, why did you dodge the second arrow fired by a guy with a ridiculous name? It's no wonder Clark didn't recognize J'onn as a Martian: the big green guy (J'onn, not the other big green guy) left his helmet with the fringe on top at home (Marvin Martian, anyone?). "That's what you get when you touch my stuff!" As hard as Clark was knocked back, I think he touched a little too much when they he and Kara clashed after that statement. That was rude, Clark! You let Dinah fall to the floor after crumpling against your invulnerable bod, so of course she's going to tell you how she feels about it in her own, special way. "You Legion people couldn't step in before I was almost cut in half?" "Arbadacarba!" (Think about who this segment was about, and then do her thing with the word above. LOL) For super-heroes who wear masks to protect their secret IDs, those JSA guys are awfully free with using their real names. "You don't even know who we are." Well, with them so casually tossing ther real names around, yes, he does. Joking aside, it was cool seeing the other heroes pop up every now and then in the series. However, the one person I waited the whole series to see never showed up: Bruce Wayne. His limo could have broken down in Smallville as a ruse to investigate all the weird goings on in town. After all, he's about Clark's age, and by then he would have already been making plans to be a crimefighter. He'd want to learn all he could about the strange people who kept popping up in case he had to fight them in the future. We also could have seen early versions of his later bat-themed weapons and gizmos, carried on an early version of his utility belt (inspired by Jonathan's farmer's tool belt). I was really hoping to see Bruce show up, especially after Lois first appeared.
I thought Smallville did a great job in expanding their world by slowly introducing characters one by one who would all go on to become the iconic heroes we would know them as before bringing them together as the show's Justice League. It not only helped bring everything full circle but showed that Clark's greatest power isn't just his strength or speed but his ability to inspire everyone around him to be the best versions of themselves by encouraging them to do what's right in your heart. He truly is the world's greatest hero
God. The memories. I grew up with Smallville, middle school - HS to be exact. I genuinely miss the early 2000’s - 2010’s. That was Americas golden era.
What I love about smallville is how they all meet with hostility and arrogance, each with their own methods of how to save the world, hell each with their own code. They way they where also better than Clark in their own respective powers, for example Wally when meeting Clark he proved to be faster, Aquaman better within the water, Super Girl better at being Super lol. From there meeting the Legion and Justice society? Insane way to add them all. But I enjoyed how smallville went from Clark being inexperienced and learning, to finding out other meta humans like himself in which they proved to be better than him within reason, to discovery future héroe teams and even the Justice Society to becoming finally Superman being able to practically take whole world and overall the god everyone likes to see him as. I would of loved for them to include Diana and Bruce in a special episode where they are the last to appear, and thus they fight it out till they find out Lex is behind everything and the three of them team up and defeat Lex, to later Clark coming up with the idea of the Justice league, and I would of liked Diana saying “Emo boy here might not like the idea but I do, who else is gonna be part of this team?” And then Clark gazes and a close up goes to his face where he smirks and says “I know a couple of people” and poof true conclusion
⛔️ Interesting point ⛔️ In the real world, transporting that person by the flash (at a speed close to the speed of light), before the car accident, will hurt the person in question much more than if that person is injured by the car accident!
It's nowhere near the speed of light, or even sound. All he has to be is faster than the truck which was doing probably 45 mph or so.And as long as he stops to grab them and stops to put them down, the impact isn't there.
The Smallville era came after the Buffy and Angel era. Buffy, Angel, Xena, The Vanishing son, Hercules, those were the good times for the wb ...warner brothers. The wb had so many hit television shows, it is very difficult to keep track and count.. From Xena to Supernatural to Arrow etc..
