Unmentionable, Mr Kent doing what he needed to retrieve Clark. Too bad many so called "Dads" in real life are too self centered to each go all out for THEIR sons, many lost, running wild, doing stupid.

You forgot to mention that Clark isn't even his son by blood but still treats him as his own. That's a definitive dad right there.

Say what you will, but the fact that, at that point in Clark's life, Jonathan could take him with Kryptonian powers, says something about Jonathan Kent.

It’s shown throughout the show that Clark has been spoiled by having powers his whole life. Without his powers, he’s terrible in a fight. Another example of this is in his several fights against Zod. Zod is a former soldier and general who’s far more experienced in hand-to-hand combat than Clark. Jonathan likewise has probably seen his fair share of brawls

Well, an Earth human body wasn't designed to handle that kind of pressure and stress. The human heart in particular is a fragile organ.

Before Jor-El gave Jonathan Kryptonian powers, he asked Jonathan if he would sacrifice anything to get Clark back. I had wondered if Jonathan's sacrifice was an early death from the stress of having those powers for a short time.
