I wish they'd kept this scene in! It is harsh from JJ, but I think it's what Clark needed to hear.

Absolutely. You can tell JJ was connecting with him especially when you saw how he lashed out in the very next episode when he was on red-k against everyone who wronged him and made him feel like crap (Lex, his mom, Lana & even Chloe). Ever since that scene in Wither where he was seen bouncing the ball, Clark had been like an alien all alone in season 6. Jonathan connected with him in ways nobody else could, but since he died in season 5, Clark was more alone than ever and the few times he got to speak to Jonathan's spirit, you could see how happy he was. This scene should've definitely been kept.

Definitely a great smallville scene between Clark and John Jones, even if it is a deleted scene. It shows how much Martian Manhunter has much in common Clark, while showing that they have different experiences. It even foreshadows Bizarro as a threat later in the season. While I think that it was a bit out of character for John to say that Clark's friends and family make him weak, I do like how he's trying to help Clark embrace the fact that he's an alien, while also explaining how similar and different they are.

This and Crimson back to back. What a punch. Familiar to this story is the Batman comic 'Masks' in legends of the dark knight vol 1 where Bruce found himself in a hospital... And check out Star Trek TOS story 'Mind sifter' where Kirk gets thrown in a loony bin. This is stuff that stays with you forever, fam..

So when did he ever decide to pay Krypton a visit before it was destroyed

I like that we learn more about this character in this scene, but I much prefer the scene in 7x01. I like Clark coming to several of these realizations on his own. This scene was a little harsh.

More than harsh. Inconsistent. In this deleted scene, John Jones speaks as someone as equally resentful of humanity as Brainiac. But in later seasons, we see him forming strong bonds of friendship and family with the Justice League, and learn that he's partners with Martha to learn about about government threats to Clark. Bottom line, it's probably best that this scene was deleted. If nothing else, they could have done so much editing with this lines here.

That’s exactly what I said Davis I said martian manhunter talked the exact same as Brainac did in this deleted scene

@@JohnDave-pn8vu I think for the time, it's what Clark needed to hear and I think JJ's perspective may have changed later. But in season 6, everyone around Clark except maybe Lois made him weaker and was doing things that he and others on the moral high ground disapproved of. Martha was getting close to Lionel, Lana got close to & married Lex, Chloe was keeping secrets about her powers from Clark and even using him in various ways, and all these people took advantage of Clark & treated him like crap or at the very least used him or didn't care about the damage they were doing to him by associating with those they associated with. It was Clark's alien side and his duty to stop the evil he unleashed from the Phantom Zone, demented meteor freaks, and even the evil that he teamed up with Oliver to stop in episodes like Justice & Arrow that gave Clark a purpose and his family was not involved in it at all. We saw in the very next episode, Crimson, how alienated Clark was from them all while the truth came out when he was affected by red-k. This scene falls right in line with that alienation. It couldn't have been a better setup to that and they should've kept it in. There was a time later on when John Jones could've had him reconsider humans but at this point he needed to hear what John was saying because his alien side was a part of him and was being ignored for years and it was embracing that side that would've done a better job of keeping Clark out of the funk he'd been in since his father died (would've even prevented it). Maybe they could've reworded JJ's lines a bit to clarify that at that (season 6) point of his life he needed to embrace his alien side more, but his message was more or less how Clark felt deep inside as the red-k showed us in the very next episode.
