This scene would've made sense if he jumped and stopped them gradually rather than stopping their inertia in a manner that would've ended both of their lives. Lol
Not in Smallville but I read some explanations about Clark kryptonian body and energy both converting naturally speed in manners he don't kill people or destroy things. That's why the elevator doesn't turn into shit after he stopped it.
Ever heard of films doing unrealistic things for cinematic value? Not everything in movies and tv shows (especially fictional ones) has to do things logically to understand what's happening as long as it's still understandable.
The only way he could've stopped the elevator gradually is if he was already flying at this point in the series. The closest visual of how he'd stop it is the scene in Superman 2 where Superman stops the elevator in the Eiffel Tower to save Lois.
Whats really amazing about this show and highly underrated and underappreciated is that almost every character was rip or shredded like a comic book character
Just imagine how different it’d be if Lionel had found his spaceship that day and not doomsday’s I wonder how it would’ve turned out I’m guessing Clark would be a much worse person 😅 and also that Lex’s inferiority complex would hit sky high if Lionel had adopted him that day.
@@flamingstallion that episode was Crazy especially his relationship with Tess in the Alt reality it’s so weird obviously they not related but they both call Lionel father so it’s weird and he calls Tess Sis
If Lionel really cares about Miss Kent he would NEVER EVER try to shoot himself in front of her. Even if he does care for her a little, it obviously ain't enough to stop him from blowing his brains out right in front of her while facing her lol
I'm sorry but this whole thing with Martha and Lionel even after all this time makes me ill. Like no fr she had Jonathan n now what's she doing hanging out with the garbage. I'm with Clark on this one. And the "son" at the end. Wonder Clark didn't punch him.
Most notable one i can think about is when Lex's good side was separated from his darkness. Pretty easy to find on RU-vid think titled why Michael Rosenbaum is the best Lex luthor. There was also the episode when Lex had his mental break in season3 no thanks to Lionel, the season 7 finale and then when Lex was resurrected in the series finale.
@@Handle...This. usually they found a way around it. Mostly Lex not remembering. Such as his mental break and when his dark and good half were put back together. The season 7 finale and series finale is more about when Lex knows he is Kal-el/the prophesied Traveler.
If you think about it, they came to a dead stop in the distance from Clark's outstretched arms to just before hitting his head, that's maybe just over a foot and they were on all fours while falling, going from that falling speed to a dead stop in a foot or less while on all fours, their elbows would have snapped like dry twigs and their faces would have shot towards the steel floor and killed both of them in a gruesome fashion. Clarks inability to fly during this scene killed both Lionel and Martha....in the real world anyway. Like my wife says...It's just TV
He lost his memory and couldn't remember what had happened. When the doctor told him he was cured during his checkup, he said he couldn't remember the last couple of days.
@@augustusandrew8018Goddamn it! I hate it when they brush aside continuities. It would've been cool if Lionel knew of Clark's abilities from that episode on
At the end of the episode he said that he didn't remember what happened however I believe he suspected that Clark knew something based on his interaction with him a couple of episodes later. Ultimately though the series 4 finale was when he knew for certain. But I think he strongly suspected before that just like Lex.
Why did they deny Clark Kent all his powers so long? I bought the series based on these videos.. but I take it, they don't like superman? .. and that wouldn't have worked anyway. I'm confused by how they portray Jor-el. He needed to fly up to the descending elevator.... They still would have been killed when the Inertia wasn't slowed gradually. Physics...how does it work? He's not a wizard, he's an alien from a distant doomed world. Ultimately, Superman is a science fiction story, not fantasy.
The general idea for Smallville is that it was about Clark Kent developing into Superman rather than the adventures of Superman. As for his powers he got most of them (minus the flying at the end, and the breath in series 6) before series 3. As for the sci-fi vs fantasy argument. Despite Superman being an alien I also saw his stories as much closer to a fantasy like character (which is probably why I didn't take to him for so long) but that is purely my personal opinion.
I agree. I think it is a plot hole. The only other explanation I can think of is that Lionel thought the stone gave him the powers, not Clark’s body itself.
Lionel was imbued with some Kryptonion knowledge...as we saw earlier in the series with Dr. Walden, humans may be in a catatonic state when they intercept Jorel's messages. This was clearly happening ton Lionel as we saw when he was in Belle Reve for weeks. Eventually he came to understand what Clark is....but to witness him use his power! That is what happened here...and the dialogue in the end scene explains it.
