You all need to realise that the reason they didn't focus on screen time of Clark (superman) in the suit was intentional. This show was entirely an origin story. If they had in fact aired a season or even a couple of episodes of Clark in the suit it'll ruin the illusion that this is just an origin story, not a story about him being superman, but becoming superman. I think the ending scene we got of him flaunting off his symbolic "S" was just perfect!!.
Nonoza Nsu and complete garbage to this generation now that shows don't shy away from suits and that kind of stuff yes it's odd but tis the little things that help.
@@FantasticalFlorance It's a cheaply produced teen drama from a network that only makes, and has only ever made soap operas aimed at dumb, gullible teenagers. Of course, this show is garbage.
Richard Williams Sean White If this show ended at like Season 6, I would to this day tell people "you know what, Smallville was pretty good!" But then....oh but then 4 more nightmarish years happened, and I just can't abide...
I like how I see people complain about how it took 10 years to get into the suit. Either they dont remember or didn't know that EVERYONE from the show, writers, actors, producers saying this isnt about Superman, but the journey to become Superman. How that no one will ever see him in the suit until the final episode and the final few minutes of the show. This was stating way back before the show even aired and was brought up numerous times.
+t ru looking back at the special effect I would say no thank you lol ... I know this is a show but these 3 minutes were shit man.. I know I can't compare a movie and a show but Man Of Steel , was something I can call a true superman story :D.. I can't believe they made 10 season of this show, it really sucked I couldn't stand to watch one full episode so boring.....................
+t ru Well i knew you were going to say that but anyway i wanted to say what I said in my previous comment, the show sucked :D, I know why the show was made it doesn't change the fact that it sucked
ulrich rafa What about this show sucked? I mean you gave a weak ass comment about the special effects....is that youre only complaint? Because again youre comment was pointless, this isnt or should say wasn't a show about Superman, it was about Clark's journey to becoming Superman. So yeah if you were looking for a pure in tights Superman show, Lois and Clark the new Adventures of Superman would be more up your ally.
Clark kent finally realized there’s a whole world out there besides smallville who can use his help. Him soaring through the fortress, bursting out the crystal ceiling was a triumphant tale of the young boy from smallville into the man of tomorrow. Long live the Superman.
It was so good that Clark's foster father was at the Fortress of Solitude in spirit to give him the Superman costume after hearing the voice of his Kryptonian father Jor-el giving him advice before he lets himself be known to the world.
I finished the series today. It took me two months to watch through the whole thing and it has been an amazing time. The ending was absolutely beatiful. I was hoping that lex luthor would return in some way, at first i thought his clone would age so that he looks like the original lex, but the original lex himself came back.....AMAZING!! Seeing clark finally completing all of his trials was amazing too. He wore the suit......AMAZING. Music from the original superman movie......that made me cry. The finale was some of the most beatiful things ive ever seen. It is of course a little bit sad that it is over now, but the finale was just so good, so I am happy. It must be weird for the people that actually watched smallville from 2001 and all the way to 2010, wow.
Ehhmm sorry do you mean some boy who watch smallvile like ten years? In 2001 From he was in 6th grade in elementary school and watch how when Clark was like a nerd who admire Lana so much, until in 2010 when he gets to collage when he has tears in his eyes to see this ending when finally, Clark fulfill his destiny to became a real and decent Man of Steel? And now he come back to see this ending video in 2019 because Tom Welling's Supes gonna came back? Well kinda wonder how that "scumbag" look like *fingers cross* 😂
''You're not just anyone. One day, you're going to have to make a choice. You have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be. Whoever that man is, good character or bad... is gonna change the world" Christopher Kent (Man of Steel 2013)
People don't understand that the Show is called "Smallville" because its about his upcoming to become the man of steel. It shows every aspect of him learning new powers and how to deal with them as a teenager. Thats what the show wanted to concentrate on. It was suitable for the final episode to be when he finally became Superman, otherwise the show should've been called "Superman" or something. New shows like The Flash and Green Arrow are great because they've already establish that these characters have taken the mantel of becoming a Hero. Unlike Smallville
I know what the S means...but The S can also represent Smallville...especially after the whole "hold on to smallville" speech his father gave him and his journey to become Superman due to his adventures in smallville.
I started to watch Smallville when I was 23 all the way to 2011. Also let my hair grow like Clark 👍. Now I'm 40 with 4 kids and getting older, but always remember this show being part of my youth.
I understand people's critique on not seeing him in a good view with the suit. This show wasn't about Clark Kent being Superman, it was about Clark Kent in his teenage/young 20s years and going through the trials to become the man of steel. I wasn't completely satisfied with the finale, but at the same time the ride to get there was an adventure and i won't judge the whole show by just the finale. Clark finally believed in himself and realized he could become a great force for good. I loved smallville and own all 10 seasons on DVD. with the exception of season 8, the show was something my dad and i constantly connected through. Not everything is going to be true to the comics and I think the writers did a good job of creating a new modern day superman.
+Varun Hans yeah i know right, as atom ... why does the casting for these awesome shows sooo f***** up ... lol.. the production co should have done surveys as to whom the audience wanted for the part ...
Gotham is more focussed on Gordon's rise to be Commisionar. Bruce leaves town and doesn't come back for many years before he starts his time as Batman. We might see it get to the point where he is grown up and heads off. But unlike Clark who always had the powers, Bruce needs a lot of work to be ready to be Batman. However seeing the teen Bruce Wayne is fascinating, first time it's really been addressed, certainly in depth.
Sadly legal reason stopped them using full on footage of him wearing the suit. Where in a shot you see his whole body with the suit on. WB only own 50% of CW. Part of the deal is that they can only use so much on tv. WB would not allow the makers to do a full on screen shot of him wearing the suit. Like if they were to ever do a prequel series to Batman like Smallville. You would never see a full on shot of Bruce Wayne wearing the batsuit. You would see them do what they did here. WB wants to save those shots for the films. Batman and Superman. WB consider them there 2 biggest franchises at DC.
***** Welling was dead-set aagainstever wearing the suit from day one. He said so, his co-stars and showrunners said so...the only people who've ever said otherwise are SMALLVILLE fans who refuse to accept he never wanted to be Superman. It was Welling's call to never suit up. Blaming everybody else for his decision has always been the fandom's biggest mistake.
That's just... stupid. They have practically everything from the comics, but oh dear no, he can't wear the suit! We can show him kinda wearing it, but not really. OH THE HORROR IF HE EVER TOTALLY WORE IT!!! OUR F***ING COPYRIGHTS!!!
DarthRushy There were no "copyright" issues with the costume. Welling flat-out refused to wear it. His showrunners admitted as much, his co-stars admitted to it and to having disagreements with him over it, and he even said in interviews he had no interest in being the full-blown Superman. And when he got promoted to producer status on the show, there was no chance of him ever being made to wear it. I am beyond sick of the Superman fandom treating Welling as a golden calf and making endless excuses for him when the blame for him never wearing the suit is on his head and his alone. (Well, that, and Gough and Millar casting him to begin with instead of an actor who would have been willing to suit up....) He didn't want to be Superman, only Clark Kent. Why Superman fans refuse to accept that is beyond me. To say nothing of their obsessive refusal to accept anyone other than Welling in the role on top of that....
Reid Mason I know he didn't want to wear it, but from the last ep, it seems his contract was awfully open to loopholes. Like, he KINDA wears it, but really doesn't. That's what bugs me. It makes no sense.
I always thought Smallville could have been a timeless series, if the cast were still into making it, I think they could have made another 10 seasons and call it Metropolis. I always wanted them to do a spin off Justice League Live action series with the original Justice League cast that would have been awesome.
5 Things that was Good 1 Lex comes back for the Finale 2 Clark Finally Flys on his own 3 Lex forgets everything 4 Clark looks back at the last 10 years of the show 5 Clark becomes Superman
The last scene of the crystalline-technology Krypton we first saw in 1978, the first truly *alien* world, civilization, and technology I had ever seen to that point.
+Dan Root - Chill punk. I am one of the biggest S fans out there and yes Christopher Reeve films I and II were awesome movies for their time. Holy Christ 3 & 4 blew chunks and were some of the worst movies ever made - money grabs that didn't pan out. Especially with Richard Pryor and then Nuclear Man - jezzuz those were some horrible movies. Superman Returns was Bryan Singers tribute to the first Reeve movie with Lex being the villain > The opening title flyby sequence, music, storyline and even the ending scene were all remakes from Superman I. Smallville has nothing to do with the Superman movies. It started with Clark as a freshman in high school just developing his powers as a teen.
You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They'll race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall, but in time, they will join you in the ... oh. Sorry. Wrong show.
I used to catch Smallville on and off as a kid. They still had the animated series and Justice League played alot during its airing times so I didnt mind it most of the times. When I caught it, i was fascinated but at the time, anything animated had higher priority for me. Now I somewhat regret not watching it along side the animated Superman and Justice league shows....
After 20 years, I watched the show from A to Z and I fully understand it now (unlike when I was 8). People will always complain but this show was and is still amazing. If you are the kind of person that wants to watch the real superman story with all the costume crap, this show is not for you. I loved the fact that this was 10 years of Clark Kent and the last part was superman. Some people complain because they don't have hindsight and it is a shame. Compared to all the TV shows nowadays Smallville is one of a kind and will always be gold and bring nostalgia
I always imagine he just plummets back to earth again after taking off, smashing back into the snow and then being super frustrated “seriously guys, how do you fly!?! This was all a really inspirational moment and all, but I actually need someone to teach me!” 😂
They owed it to us to at least give us him in the suit with a decent view. It sucked. They built the whole show around revealing this at some point and frankly shortchanged us. Cavil IS much better superman though, lets be real. Welling was a great superboy but as he got older there was no way he would be as good as cavil.
Smallville messed up his character. The entire point of Clark's character is that he is a very good person. A "goody goody". He is not supposed to be kissing girls in bed and going dipping in lakes naked with naked girls and peeking through their clothes and having sex with them and making all kinds of dumb decisions, etc, all which he had done many times throughout the series. He is supposed to be like Chris Reeve.
Richie Thomas That's just silly. No they didn't mess him up. A hero needs their personal/social life, have a little fun not just do their superhero job all the time you know. Why Superman needs to be a "goody goody" all the time? That would make his character boring. Nobody is perfect even Superman or Batman. That was just a dream he had and that was just when his x-ray vision was first activated. It's just a natural thing for anyone to do. That does not make him a bad person. Lol. You know Christopher Reeve's Superman slept with Lois Lane and they both had sex in the fortress in Superman II. And I guess you never watched Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman either. He's not always "goody goody" in that one either. Lol. Even in the comics he's not.
If that were to happen it shouldn't be season 11. It should be a new series called superman, written by the same people, starring the same people, same universe. But I don't think there is much more to tell. At least not in the drama sense, just action.
"You will give the people an ideal to strive towards, they will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall, but in time, they will join you in the sun, in time, you will help them accomplish wonders." Jor-El--- man of steel 2013---
Gamercat 99 Seriously!!?? and that's in regards to what's voting or viewing statistics!! simply because over all in space of 10 years I don't think viewing stats would even be remotely comparable to Smallville ... sorry
Having purchased the entire box set from Seasons 1-10, i heard that he does wear the suit, but i never took any notice of it, in the event of being disappointed. Was i disappointed? Emotional i was that he FINALLY DID wear it. BUT, why oh why did they not prolong it a little longer and maybe show him off to the people of Metropolis? It all felt too rushed an ending! I WANTED MORE SUPERMAN FROM TOM WELLING!!
Emmanuel Silvera Exactly 10 years build up for nothing he deserved 1 episode as Superman meeting up with the team in the suit having a gigantic battle with Daksied it was a let down :(
Well, I believe they've stated that on one of the earths, it is. We know the house and farm is the same. Smallville is part of the DC multiverse and by way of the alternate earths, the Arrowverse.
Many years ago, I was writing a Smallville crossover fan-fic. The series was still on at the time (I can't remember which one). In my story, Clark was to apparently 'die' then return, as Superman, for the final battle. I had planned out a flashback scene for him becoming Superman that pretty much was the same as this one.
"finally becomes superman" What a joke he did EVERYTHING as Clark He beat almost all his villains before he even put on his suit WHAT A JOKE Whats next for superman ??? That is why I always hate this kind of series The same goes for Gotham
Doomsday is trapped underground; so will break out eventually, Zod could possibly escape from the Phantom Zone, and Darkseid just dissipated when Clark flew through him; so he is still alive. Lex is obviously going to become the villain from the comics, and Toyman and Metallo are still at large in the Marionette Ventures. The only villain Clark beat forever was Braniac.
When Supergirl stops the plane from crashing, jimmy tells her that’s funny because Superman’s first heroic act was stoping a plane from crashing. I never got to see this so didn’t know it was talking about Smallville. That’s so cute lol.
This series started when I was just a tiny little piss head, now Im old and had kids, brooo.. this is the best ever series.. hands down hands down.. the ending really2 made me cry and that is back in highschool.. best of the best
@fandomking8939 you sound like a complete idiot 🙄 FYI I've watched every episode of this shit show just to be disappointed like everyone else at least those with sense.. obviously you aren't one of them.As a matter of fact judging by your idiotic statement you probably weren't even born when this show 1st aired so stfu. I'm old enough to be your absent father..
The heirs to the creators of Superman had taken DC Comics and Warner Bros too court. They were demanding royalties, a percentage of any profits from the movies and tv shows, and ownership of the character, and anything Superman related. So the pre-trial was taking place during Smallville's run. During the trial, the judge ordered no movies or tv shows too be promoted showing the "S" emblem. Smallville producers got away with it because they had already had the scenes filmed. Also the show itself wasn't about Superman, it was about Clark Kent.
I have two problems with this scene. One, Jor-El says, "...you abilities may be of my blood..." What? That doesn't make any sense at all, because Jor-El never had the abilities of super strength, super speed and whatever because he never lived on Earth, He lived on Krypton, on which he would have been like a normal human. Two, would it have hurt to show a full body shot of Tom wearing the suit instead of close ups of his face?
still same blood, also in smallville jorell did visit earth to check if it was alright to send his son, theres this whole episode about it. about the suit tom said hed only sign the contract as long as he never had to wear the suit, so all the full body shots are cgi and editing
Marc Cisneros He has those abilities on Earth because of our yellow sun. Krypton had a red sun and every one who lived there were just normal people. They didn't have any abilities. Since Jor-El lived on Krypton just before it was destroyed, he was normal, he did not have any abilities. They shared the same blood only because Kal-El is his son. Could Jor-El fly? Did he have super-strength, super-speed or be able to see through objects? No, he couldn't. Therefore, they didn't not have the same abilities, just the same blood because Kal-El was his son. As for the ending, that's your opinion.
Yes Terrance Stamp. A lot of earlier Superman cast have appeared over the 10 seasons as established characters from the legend - Chris Reeves himself in wheelchair as Dr Swann, Dean Cain as "Jack The Ripper", Margot Kidder, Annette O Toole was Lana is Superman 3, the list goes on. the Chris Reeves Superman when he is running alongside the train the little girl who waves at him is supposed to be Lois. Her parents are played by an earlier B&W Lois and Clark incarnation actors.
Yes you should! it's the origin of how Clark becomes superman. Now it doesn't go exactly by the comics. he does fight villains early such as doomsday and Zod. But overall the show is good. Better then arrow and flash? Nah. But without Smallville, arrow and flash would not exist
***** The show is good. I mean yeah it wasn't perfect. But it's very similar to the flash. The reason why people criticize it is because 1. It takes him 10 years to fly and become superman. 2. He didn't wear the suit and 3. Smallville had some up and down seasons. Such as season 7. That season had sooooo much drama between Clark, Lex and Lana. But still the show is great. It gets closer to him getting teased as superman around season 8-10. Heck even in season 10 he actually gets the suit in a briefcase but never wears it till the scene in this video^^
Fair enough, I didn't mean his involvement was nothing, I misworded my reply, but after the final script approval, Nolan really has been completely hands off, allowing Snyder to do his thing. I'm just hoping people know that if Man of Steel is awesome, it's Goyer that deserves the vast majority of the credit. Nolan deserves credit for bringing it about, Goyer and Snyder did the rest.
To all the people who complain... STOP... the series was called "SMALLVILLE" for a reason, it was the transition from the young Clark to the man of steel, so it was a perfect FINALE, we weren't supposed to see him as SUPERMAN, we where supposed to see how he finally became ready to become the MAN OF STEEL... 'nough said.
Jordan Goodbye By season 10, it was not good at all. I was a fan and defender of the show for years, but after everyone else were wearing their costumes and going by their code names, but not the star of the show, I lost my taste for it. Hell, even Aquaman and Hawkman upstaged Superman.
If I recall correctly, the reason Tom Welling didn't want to wear the suit was because he believed in the Superman curse... that everyone who has donned the suit, their life... not just career, is dogged with misfortune... and you gotta admit... have yet to see anyone who played Superman really come out on top to the end.
I've never seen the show, and I'm not trying to offend anyone or hate on this show, but... Just from this clip, it seems pretty cheesy and lame. I'm wondering why this show had a lot of fans.
To be completely honest, I'm completely satisfied with Finale. I didn't need to see Clark in the suit (besides the end with the chest rip), I didn't need to see Clark fight Darkseid (he might of flown then but he wasn't Superman anyway, not until he put on the cape in this scene), and I loved how they played it all. I loved Apokalips being there and Clark pushing it away from orbit, and Superman saving Lois on Air Force One, and of course, the last 4 minutes in 2018. Always Hold On To Smallville
"You will give the people an idea to strive towards. They will rest behind you. They will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders." Jor-El (Man of Steel 2013)
If you're upset by not seeing him in a good view in the suit then frankly you don't understand Smallville. You also have absolutely no right to ask the show of that. From the first to the last ep its ALWAYS been about Clark Kent. NOT Superman. Its actually sad that in ten seasons you still haven't got with the program.
Clark discover that he need to hide his powers, a Brainic from the Legion shows Clarks future as superman and Clark find him self wearing glasses hiding his secret identity, thats when Clark start using the glasses, watch the last 2 hours of the season finale, but the reason is clear, he didnt know he was going to be this amazing.
Actually WB offered to give them the christopher reeves suit but the producers opted for the brandon routh suit instead. WB owns DC and smallville was produced and distributed thru WB. No copyright issues were involved, all under the same studio.
Your not just anyone. One day, you're going to have to make a choice. You have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be. Whoever that man is, good character or bad, is going to change the world. - Johnathan Kent
watch the entire seies its worth it tbh. seasons 1-6 mainly about smallville, 7-10 is basically about metropolis/daily planet/relationship with lois lane builds and he gradually gets closer and closer to superman.
I'm a smallville fan, didn't say I wasn't. I watched all the seasons in a few days. But the people who disliked it were most likely actual comic book fans, because this series completely destroys any actual relation to it. It was also in my related videos, so chill out.
