I always knew from the very first episode that Clark and Lana weren't gonna end up together...because the writers had to follow the whole Clark and Lois getting together in the end story line. But as a die hard smallville fan...I always thought and always will think that Clark and Lana were better of together. They were just so perfect for each other.
Yeah, Smallville differs a lot from the original story. Also there are SO MANY cartoons, movies, TV series about Clois as a main couple, and WILL BE in the future. So it wouldn’t be apocalypse if at least in ONE SINGLE adaptation of that comics Clark would end up with not Lois but other girl.
Look at them finally able to have an honest argument and work through it. Honestly, Clark only doubts if he'll end up with Lana because he's still scared of losing her again... he still worries he'll have to be alone forever... but I know Lana is the only girl he could ever imagine himself with.
Lana is the love of his life. You just don't forget this relationship ever. But unfortunately with this Smallville series, it has to end. With the way they wrote this, Lois appears to be second best at best.

This is so heart breaking because it is typical of so many relationships. Clark is desperate to fix things (as he so often promised), but as with many relationships, it takes Lana packing her bags and leaving in order for Clark to take notice. And even then, with the way the script writers wrote this whole romance (season 1-7), it's a miracle that Lana lasted as long as she did. Clark is just flat out dysfunctional when it comes to Lana. He always has been. But the script writers have to end this relationship some how, some time; As we all know that Clark ends up with Lois Lane. This would've been the perfect scene to end the whole Clana drama. But for some reason, the writers/producers decided to stretch this soap opera another year. There comes a time when one has to say, "Enough already." When the viewers shaking their heads say "Oh what now? Quit trying to squeeze blood out of a stone and just end this melodrama." Yes, we all love Lana. But Clark has always proven to make the wrong choices because he's an idiot. How does a man with all of these super powers, and more to come, remain this stupid? How would such an idiot end up being the symbol of mankind to other planets etc., when he can screw up a two car parade?
Lana wasn’t gonna break up with Clark. She just wanted to leave The Kent’s farm for a few days because she wanted to give Clark some time to calm down.
I agree that Clark is an idiot in his relationship with Lana and makes a lot of wrong choices. And I do think they should have broken up, suffered, moved on, a la Oliver Queen and Lois Lane. We don’t doubt that Lois and Oliver especially loved each other, but also eventually got over the heartbreak. Here Lana’s correct: CK doesn’t believe in the future together, but he doesn’t want to let her go. Anyone who tried to break a toxic cycle while still craving their ex understands that pattern. I’m so sorry these two couldn’t make it work because they’re liquid sex together, but they’re also so sad and dysfunctional.
Clark should have let Lana go. He never stood up for himself with her. What went on with Bizarro was bad and he had a right to need some time to deal with it.
Nope i beg to differ, i think Lana always wants answers, she wants a perfect life with a man that has the need to help people, so i think louise is perfect, she fights for justice, lanas to fragile, she the princess dong hurt me type...naah Clark needs a kick ass wife
At times I loved their relationship but I think it should have ended in season 6 finale. Here’s what I would have loved to have seen happen. Season 6 finale Lex kills Lana at the barn. She dies in Clark’s arms. Then Clark and Chloe could have been together. Clark and Chloe would have made an amazing couple IMO. Clark only fell in love 😻 with Lois later out of convenience. Lois was actually IMO better suited for Oliver. 🙏🥰

Short version is Clark had a doppelganger (Bizarro). Bizzaro trapped the real Clark in the Fortress of Solitude. Lana couldn't tell the difference between Clark and Bizarro. When Clark finally made it back weeks later, she admits she didn't know it was the real Clark and at thee same time, admits Bizarro was easier to be with. This caused strain and bitterness between them. This clip shows them finally reconciling.
