Lukie ozeir the show was still good. But it was obvious that Lana and Clark were a better couple.

Actually the ratings were steady no matter what. They even said when it moved to Friday nights, Smallville’s ratings proved the “Friday night death time slot” beliefs were either a myth or it ended that belief very quickly because ratings kept dong well. The show had such a solid cast and show runners that when Lana did leave the show was able to pivot and keep doing well. Lana leaving did hurt it a little but keep in mind, after she left in season 8, the show went on for another two or two and a half seasons. It was always The WB and The CW’s top hit until it ended. After it ended, the only show that has stayed number one ever since it’s debut has been The Flash. So Smallville wasn’t hurt by cast leaving because they kept telling good stories and keeping the audience enthralled. It moved all over the schedule and the fans were loyal and followed it. I think the only night Smallville never aired on was Mondays as well as Saturdays because The WB and The CW didn’t program on Saturdays. The only other show that has been on every night except for Saturdays on The WB and The CW is Supernatural and that fan base has been as loyal as Smallville. So Smallville wasn’t hurt by Lana leaving that much.

@@Trekapedia I disagree with you. I think the show lost many of its appeal after Lana leave, cause the best parts were when Lana and Clark were in the same scene.

Rafael Paiva well the show went on three more seasons successfully after she left so it didn’t tank.

I don't see many people who hate Lana. In fact, I believe it's just the opposite. The problem is that the widows of the comics can't accept Smallville told us a better love story than the comics. The silent majority just love Clana. I don't have any doubt about that.

If I remember correctly, I think the original plan was for the final break up to be the big ending to the series. However, they screwed up the storyline along the way, especially the whole Lex and Lana thing, and then kept there series going too long.

shopper2151 you said you stopped watching when she left so then how would you have seen the doomsday fight when that happened in the season 8 finale and she had her last official episode in episode 14 a whole 8 episodes prior so tell us again did you continue to watch the series on ward next do you wanna tell us about the kandorians from season 9 or how bout the lex clones from 10 next time my boy get your facts straight cause you never know 4 years down the line someone may correct you and call you out

Me too, I stop watching when Lana left the show. Now, I'm rewatching and just finish the season 8. I'm not liking what I'm seeing.

Lol. Lana never wished she could compete with Clark. This is yet another hallucination of Clois fans, who cannot overcome their jealousy and for not accepting it, that in at least one show, Clark had another great love in his life. Lana never wanted to be able to be like Clark exactly. She and Clark were constantly being sabotaged and blackmailed and Clark had his life constantly threatened by the luthor. She was blackmailed by Lionel and forced to marry Lex or otherwise Clark would have her life threatened. She had to forge his death to save Clark's life and there was always someone among them. She was kidnapped and had to move away from Clark again to try to learn how to defend herself in some way. "hard military training". That was when she thought that by taking the Luthor out of the way, she and Clark could live in peace and tried to take revenge. But as she failed, she tried to gain powers with the kryptonite suit. But she said in 8x14 that as she had powers, they could be together and she would not be more vulnerable because she would be able to defend herself and still help him and nothing would separate them. I don't understand where you guys get these insane theories about Lana that were never really shown in the series. You try to turn Lana into a monster, but that monster only exists in your mind.

I have to disagree because there's never been any indication that she was jealous or envious of Clark, but there was plenty of indication that she was afraid that she would be a vulnerability to Clark because of her human status. Lana can be annoying at times, but I've never understood this need by people to villainize her like this. Also, even if some part of her did want powers, why is that inherently evil?

They need to look at her character from a purely human perspective. Then just maybe they will get her and why she did the things she did.

@@jr90450 bottomline is in every version of media,Lois is a Superman groupie who doesn't care about Clark without powers. So its no suprise Lois was so in love with Clark since she got to see his abilities. Lana on the other hand didn't care about his powers.

Clana’s relationship was becoming strong and mature throughout the series by coping a lot of difficulties. You can see how they understood each other perfectly in the end. Do you remember how many times Clana supported and comforted each other? When Lana was upset, he was there to comfort her. When Clark was upset, she was there to comfort him (e.g. she found and returned to him Jonathan’s stolen watch, made him believe he was not burden to his parents, and many other cases). So Clana’s story is realistic, not toxic. Their relationship reminds me of a conversation between Martha and Clark in "Promise". Martha: Your father and l almost didn't get married. I broke it off after a year. We had a horrible argument and I thought I'd never see him again. Yeah, we came from such different worlds. Clark: Then why'd you get back together? Martha: Because l- I couldn't stop thinking about him. Clark: What if I take that risk? And Lana really is happy with Lex? Martha: All I can tell you, Clark, is that if I hadn't taken that chance I would have lost everything that's ever meant something to me. You see? Even Martha&Jonathan, a couple which is loved by a lot of people had quarrels and conflicts, but their relationship became stronger after overcoming difficulties.
