Smallville Season 9 - Salvation | Theological Review SPOILERS 

The finale and that final fight between Clark and Zod was probably the best finale of the show smallville probably number 1

This season was absolutely perfect! My third favorite season of the series! From Clark/Lois, Zod, Clark's black outfit, Salvation, the Kandorians, to the fantastic finale and Absolute Justice, season 9 packs quite the action and excitement that gets you hooked to the final season! There are rarely any TV shows with 9th seasons that are any good, but this season of Smallville exceeds expectations of 9th seasons! I never grow tired of this season!

The kryptonite traps guarding the stones in season 4 makes so much sense now, they were probably set up by Jor el in advance to stop the kandorians from getting to them stopping them from gaining the knowledge of the universe

This was definitely the best season of the Metropolis years of the show! It was also the darkest season since Season 3! The season started out with a BANG with “Savior”, “Metallo”, “Rabid”, etc. and didn’t let up! The Zod/Kandorians arc was solid from start to finish as Major Zod was a brilliantly realized version of him that the writers gave A LOT of depth too. Calling Blue was amazing in the role. :) You have the Absolute Justice two parter which was very cinematic and while there were some weak episodes (“Warrior”, “Escape”!) the season ended SO strong with episodes like “Sacrifice” and one of the best finales of the entire series, “Salvation”. One of the best seasons of the show period. Top 3 for me! ❤️👍👍👍😎

First off awesome wife! Season 9 wow here we are to the penultimate season of a show that just keeps building and building towards that Superman endgame. From the episodes Savior to Salvation this season is about allegiances and drawing battle lines in the sand for the coming apocalypse. Both Waller and Zod asked Clark whom will you join. But first things first getting Clark back to the Daily Planet with our girl Lois. Getting Oliver back on track in Roulette. The episode Kandor showing Zod and JorEls friendship and respect of one another but always a level of mistrust i.e. Lex and Clark s "friendship" Pandora is a frightening look at the "what if" scenario. Going back to season 2 at the end of Rosetta when Clark reads the ships message and asks "What if I was sent here to conquer?" What can be said about Absolute Justice? It was incredible. The attention to detail was so well done. The passing of the torch to the new era of heros. Our boy Tom Welling directed part 2. Mind blown! Martha Kent as the Red Queen was out of left field but it worked for me because of course she would protect her son just like any mama would. Zod plays as if Lucifer all season. The way he tries to temp Clark...all the promises made to his fellow soldiers can all come to be if they simply"Kneel before Zod." Matthew 4:8-9" 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” He himself claiming"Better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven." That finale is one of if not the best. It has so many epic moments and that roof top fight is one for Smallville s record books. That cliffhanger fall drove me up the wall all summer long. I appreciate the Christ pose as he sacrificed himself to save the world.

Season 9 is my favorite season ever!!! We finally get to see Lois and Clark together. We finally see Clark being so much confident and mature on his role as a hero. And Zod was a really great villain, one of my favorites after Lex and Brainiac. Season 9 has some of my favorites episode like the Absolute Justice two part, Idol, Hostage and my favorite season finale Salvation. Amazing review! I really like your interpretation of the season and the whole video! Sad tho because we are nearly done with the show and I like hearing your opinion of Smallville.

Love season 9 and It's in my top 3 favorite seasons without question.

I'm not religious, but the burning of the RAO towers definitely reminded me of the Tower of Babel parable, with Clark essentially acting as God and the Kandorians as the Babylonians who have become greedy for God's power. I'd love to know your take on that, though.

I found this video because I love Smallville and wanted to watch your review, but I was pleasantly surprised when you made biblical references and connected themes to Christianity. This is my second favourite season just behind season 3

Wait...I've watched all 10 seasons of Smallville more times than I can even remember...but I didn't realize that Henry 'James' Olsen purchased the entire building. I thought he only purchased the very top apartment for him and Chloe as her wedding present in Season 8, and then Oliver Queen purchased the rest of the building afterwards.

One word: epic!

This season is very intensely epic and exciting! Man, Callum Blue who played Zod in this season really delivers the epicness! He's good. Totally hands down bad-ass! Absolutely perfect season. Props to Mr. Blue. And now thanks to this season in the episode Kandor it gives us the backstory on how the stones were made and scattered throughout the world nods to season 4 making that season a worthwhile treasure hunting season. In other words, a very important one too. A doorstep most definitely. In a way, season 4 really delivers on a different level if you will take a closer look on both seasons on how they are both needed and tied together. Especially with the idea of salvation and there are a few of them. If not, then more of them.

This is the best season from top to bottom. Jam packed with action, solid storylines, good character development with main characters, solid villain, and best season finale of all the season finales of Smallville.

I think season 9 is the best of out of all 10 out of all of them.

Season 9 truly is an epic Season and it's so awesome, also I have this thought do you think it would have been messy writing that after Clark survived that fall in the christ like motion and he came back to life, what if in so doing after he came back he took that final step and he finally became Superman the whole Season 10, like it was like dying finally opened Clark's eyes on who and what he was supposed to be ?

Hey, regarding the death of 'Jimmy Olsen', one of the other reveals at the end of Season 8 was the revelation that the character who we knew as Jimmy Olsen since Season 6, was actually HENRY 'James' Olsen, who is the older brother of the actual James 'Jimmy' Olsen. That real James 'Jimmy' Olsen was the 9 year old kid brother who was at Henry 'James' Olsen funeral in the last episode of season 8. So, technically, the REAL Jimmy Olsen was not killed. And in fact, that real Jimmy Olsen (the kid brother of Henry 'James' Olsen) was indeed featured briefly later in the series in a 'future' flash-forward scene, working at the Daily Planet alongside Lois and Clark.

Season 9 and 10 of Smallville are my least watched seasons of Smallville at 1 a piece so 9 will probably be shorter than my thoughts on the other seasons cause I don't remember that much unfortunately. I do like Zod in this season though not as much as when he took over Lex in season 6 and was actually the seasoned war general Zod. Still Clark having other Kryptonians to think about in Zods army was an interesting idea. I wouldn't call them "his" people cause I definitely think Clark is more human than Kryptonian even if in this season he embraces Jor-el's teachings more than ever before. Another favorite of mine is Metallo. Man I loved Metallo in Superman the animated Series. I loved his accent, I loved and hated how he always cheated and used that Kryptonite in his chest to get the advantage on Superman like he couldn't win otherwise. Just a fun character. His character isn't as fun In Smallville as far as the way he toys with Superman in the cartoon but they went a different route with him in terms of his personality and he's cool too. It's the thought that counts for me at least they tried. Would've been a missed opportunity if they didn't use him. Live Wire now that's a missed opportunity. I love Live Wire especially in Supergirl but anywho Rabid's another great episode. I really like this episode because of how surprisingly good it turned out. When I first read the synopsis I thought zombies? How would zombies affect Clark they can't bite through his skin? But yeah it's everyone else specifically Lois who we root for in getting out of that building. Just a fun episode. The Justice society of America episode is great as well I love like Doomsday, Doctor Fates costume. He looks phenomenal. Watching Justice League the animated Series a lot when this first aired there were a few episodes with Doctor Fate so it was easy to compare and they nailed his design. Overall a great season though that I need to go back and rewatch soon.

It's interesting how Chloe ended up similar to Barbara Gordon. Barbara became Oricle in a similar way to Chloe with Watchtower. Loved Stargirl in a similar way to Supergirl. Lois's strength comes from growing up as a military brat. Didn't care for Zod as much as previous big bads. However, I'm gonna add season 9 to my collection as soon as I can find it. Some really good guest stars this season. Fun Fact: Micheal Shanks was a regular cast member of Stargate SG-1.

Between Season 7 and 9 my top two seasons i love. 😊

My 2nd Favourite Season just below Season 5 (The show isn't the same without Lex & Lionel) Callum Blue was AWESOME As Zod!!! (The Best Zod since Terrence Stamp) Absolute Justice (Need I say more?😎) Checkmate (Yes, I actually like Checkmate) Clark finally feels like he's embracing his destiny and developing his relationship with Lois. There's very few 9th seasons of any TV show that you could actually consider a Great Season. Also... KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!!!

Here's my issue with showing Clark as a messianic figure, and yes, I understand that people can interpret art in different ways and it's certainly something that is a mainstay in a lot of more modern iterations of Superman (even before Zach Snyder). Superman was never written as a Jesus metaphor. His story is a reinterpretation of the story of Moses.

I really love this season and all Lois Lane and the blur with Clark but the Chloe and Oliver don’t send to me Zod a good villain

I feel like if they added Lana into all of this with zod the kandorians and kryptonians into it she would have defeated all of them in an instant

Was not a fan of Zods portrayal. I didn't find him menacing or intelligent at all, nor did I care for how they changed Jor El into an older British guy. How in the world did Jor go from being identical to Clark to suddenly looking nothing like him, with different hair and a whole new accent? That was a glaring issue for me.

I just finished watching S9 for the second time and it is clearly the worst season of them all, except for the season finale there is not a single good episode in it. At least S8 had Davis Bloome who was a fairly complex character, S9 has nothing except for a boring, even ridiculous Zod - I never bought him as a military leader for one second - an extremely stupid "Red Queen" (completely unbelievable) and a stupid and meaningless return of Perry White, far too late, as well as the worst episode in the whole show, where a child turns into an adult superhero - by reading a comic. Embarrassing and truly sad, because all the fine psychological details from the earlier seasons are gone.
