My absolute favorite show of all time. I totally agree on the Lanadrama. (which is what I always called it too XD) That was really my biggest gripe from the show. I wanted to get back to Superman's origin and not keep going back to Lana whining about Clark not being honest with her all the time.
@ChrisDurban

@@joshuarobertson8866 Dawg, as soon as season 2 hit, Lana became super fuckin manipulative about Clark and his secret. Even if it seemed like they were having a cute heart to heart, she always found some way to manipulate it into a 'Clark tell me your secret' kinda way
@ZakareeRandol
@ZakareeRandol 2 года назад
@@joshuarobertson8866 Yes but Smallville isn't about the comics, it's its own separate universe. I have no problem with Comic Lana, she was super sweet and a good friend. But Smallville's Lana post-season 1 was just as manipulative as Lionel Luthor, just a lot more subtle. After Clark saved her from the tornado, she grew to only care about his secret, not him. Seriously, go listen to ANY conversation between her and Clark in season 2 and 3 -- Literally ANY conversation they have -- and Lana will end up turning the conversation into manipulating Clark, trying to get him to tell her his secret. She's so extremely toxic.
@joshuarobertson8866
@joshuarobertson8866 2 года назад
@@ZakareeRandol Im currently rewatching the show and my opinion remains. The reason the secret was a big deal is really Clark's fault -He makes it clear to Lana there is a secret between them And again keeps going back and forth regarding his emotions. which is confusing and to Lana's perspective makes him a bit of a manipulative A hole because he still gets bothered when she tries to move on and date other people e.g... Jason and Lex but cant be honest with her Clark is no saint which seems to be the problem with the fanbase. The way he handled his secret and Lana was pretty terrible. Lana definitely cared about Clark beyond the secret why? a few examples 1.Season 4 she wouldnt tell Lex she gave Clark the stone e.g... Lana didnt trust Lex at that point and knew he would not hurt her but may hurt Clark 2.When she discovers the secret she protects Clark from the Luthors and goes to the extent of marrying Lex 3. She even chooses to leave Clark in the end in season 8 because she knows her presence is physically killing him 4.Lana even protects Clark when she becomes a vampire and the other vampires want to hurt him But again I don't expect you to see any of this if you dont want to see it. We'll just have to agree to disagree and move on. I dont think saying she cared about the secret more than him is accurate. Lana mentions a lot in season2 and 3 that she is grateful to Clark for saving her and always being there for her. Clark pushed her away because of the secret.

Ugh the Lana drama....why???!! You described season 8 well with how it's like the show fell asleep for 5 episodes that randomly brought back Lana, and then woke back up as if nothing happened. My biggest pet peeve of the show is that they never gave proper closure to Clark and Lana, and always made it feel like Lois was his second choice rather than his one true love.

I agree. They should’ve made it a proper ending for Clark and Lana at the end of season 7, and then it's done. We know Lois isn't 2nd to Lana, but what they did with Clark and Lana in season 8 gives that feeling.

What I'm wondering after watching this is - How would the ranking have been different without the Clana drama or if their relationship had been handled better? I always thought that if Clark had been honest with Lana after the tornado and she dated him through the remainder of their high school years, only for them to go their separate ways as friends after Season 4 or 5, that would have been much better. Then Lana could have come back occasionally as a recurring character for the later seasons, without getting in the way of Clark and Lois.

To me, the concept of Clark trying to help each person affected by Kryptonite is interesting because it shows he truly blames himself for just being here because it caused pain and inconvenience for so many people. He really does try to save each one, it’s huge for Superman to show he believes everyone deserves a chance and there’s always hope. I also think this is mirrored in the season he tracks Phantoms he accidentally released. There’s a lot of consequence to his actions and he always felt guilty because he feels he should do and be everything to everyone. It’s hard to learn you can’t save everyone…. 14:49 RIP Jor El ❤

Firstly, great list, great video. I grew up with Smallville and loved it. I’d put season four higher due to personal bias, TMI, I hit puberty in season four and had the biggest crush on Erica as Lois (my first sex dream). But also it, as you said set up great chemistry for future seasons. I echo your statement that Erica is the best adoption of Lois Lane. And also season five is amazing, my favorite too, for all the things you mentioned, it does hurt that Jonathan had to die (best TV dad ever) but it wasn’t for shock value, it was necessary to advance the plot and for Clark to become his own man. Plus season five had the Stars and Stripes routine, which again goes with my Lois bias. Ps I don’t mind Lana in the show but once Lois showed up she felt more of a road block than a character (due to everyone knowing the future through comics/movies) , more so later in the seasons. Nothing against the actress I thought she was she was great, but fuck when she rocked up in season 8 (I think) when Lois and Clark were making progress I almost stopped. Let’s just say I’m glad that super suits can absorb Superman repellent

The episode where she reappears in Shanghai and she finds the third stone is one of the best.

I was trying to rank the seasons but I honestly love them all, even seasons 4 and 8 which I heard were generally disliked. I have a love hate relationship with the Lana thing, it was annoying and definitely toxic at times (especially the early seasons) but I really liked how tragic things turned. Clark seeing Lana's video with Lois comforting him and Clark and Lana's final goodbye were both extremely powerful, well acted scenes that really got to me. But back to the ranking, Season 10 would definitely be my number 1, the 200th episode is one of the reasons. From the flashbacks, to the funny yet entertaining high-school reunion story, to Lois and Clark's CUTE dance at the end... hands down one of the best episodes to ever celebrate the legacy of a TV show. I honestly felt like crying because it was just so well done. No other TV show has made me feel this way except Supernatural and how they celebrated their 200th episode.

Durban my dude great list...Let me start off by saying as before, I don't think there is any bad season of Smallville so it was very very hard to do this..but here we go. #1. Season 10 will always take my top spot. Lois and Clark together. The 200th episode is my #2 episode of the entire series. The return of dark Lionel. Johnathan Kent returns not just as "a" holy spirit but the episode Kent is a performance no one talks about. In the mirror world he is jaded and hopeless just taking out all his frustrations on Clark. Clark being the hope and light this season was able to give him a sense of hope and called him son just as he was pulled back into his own world. The return of Lex Luthor both the season premiere of a imperfect clone to the finale as the real deal. Oliver outing himself as Green Arrow and giving that epic speech in his interview. The return of Zod in Dominion...a smaller scale wrath of Khan and Zod thirst for vengeance was his undoing and leaves him stranded there. As Snoke once said " darkness rises and the light to meet it" Clark is that light against Darksied and light will always win. A Destiny fullfilled! I love everything about the finale personally. A that John Williams score to end the show was icing on a ten year cooked cake! #2. Season 9- Epic in size and scale. Matrix fans rejoice, another savior figure in black. Callum Blue did a great job at Zod. I liked his intensity and got more intense as the season progresses. Absolute Justice, Id say, deserves its own video. From the ground up they built this world. Detail by detail, set design was incredible. Introduced more heros and checkmate and was the first episode to drop that "apocalypse" is coming. That season finale was fan-freaking- tastic and with a final fight that is one if the best of the series. Now from here on out its hard lol #3. Season 5- For shows that start in highschool usually the first one out starts a decline. Not for this awesome show. Always striding forward in momentum. Buffy fans rejoice James Marters as Brainiac was a great physical and mental villian. The 100th episode was a heartbreaking work of art, but it great that it had ramifications all the way through to season 10. The first coming of Zod and Lex being possessed and even more evil was a treat. As a Dukes of Hazard fan I did love the return on Tom Wompat...just them good ol boys driving around. #4 Season 2- Housing my favorite episode Rosetta and "my" Superman Christopher Reeve, elevates this season of a show hitting a stride in only its second season out. The character of Ryan was a heartbreaking loss. The caves introduced. The episode Lineage is basically the Pilot part 2 and fleshes out the rivalry between the Kents and the Luthor s which becomes a generational battle in the future with Lex vs Superman. Pete finding out the truth of his best friend and the beginning burden of having to hold that secret. Finale Exodus and the introduction of Jor El and the start of the back and forth of a different father all the way to the shows Finale. #5 Season 6- Super hero overload in the best sense of the word!. Green Arrow introduced ✔. Returning of Aquaman Impulse and Cyborg ✔. The Martian Man hunter ✔. Slow motion bad ass hero walk with explosions behind you ✔. Bizzaro as a nemesis awesome. #6 Season 3- An ambitious 2 part season opener..the revelation that Clark's parents were chosen is pretty awesome. Memoria is is Top 5 episode of the series for sure. #7 Season 8- Losing Lex Lionel and for the most part Lana and its shows creators the new showrunners transitioned perfectly. Daily Planet Clark and the red blue blur. The Jekyll and Hyde Doomsday was smart. Tess Mercer( future Luthor) comes to power. The Legion introduced. The tragic death of Jimmy. Oliver Queen as a main stay and getting his island backstory. Strong season. # 8. Season 1 the one that started it all. Opening with one of my favorite pilot episodes of any show on television. Season finale Vortex with 3 twisters into one and Clark jumping into it gave us the first of many cliffhanger summer anxiety attacks. Emerging powers.. meteor freaks and the Hourglass giving us glimpse into the future. #9. Season 7 Bring on Supergirl. After years of being mentored..he gets to do the mentoring. The Veritas Quest. The Traveller. The return of Brainiac. Descent into darkness. #10 Season 4- Now just because its last does in no way make it bad to me. The Fortress Quest. The introduction of Lois Lane. Season opener Crusade that we see Clark/ Kal El fly. Personal nostalgia for the senior year of High School. Finishing with a Top 5 season finale in Commencement. This truly was hard but really after my top 2 spots the rest are all tied in 3rd place! If you made it this far thanks for reading my thoughts and God Bless!

I agree, no bad season so this was tough to rank! That's a great ranking! I need to mention I love in season 10 Clark finding Jonathan on Earth 2. To see Clark be the light to Jonathan, the very light Jonathan was to him in our world, was so touching. Great performances all around. Really, such a great show!

Just finished rewatching the show all the way through for a second time and had an amazing time rewatching it. So my ranking from best to worst. 1: Season 1 2: Season 5 3: Season 4 4: Season 2 5: Season 3 6: Season 10 7: Season 9 8: Season 6 9: Season 7 10: Season 8. I think the first 5 Seasons and Seasons 9 and 10 are pretty fantastic. But Season 1 for me is my undeniable favourite because of how simple each plot was for the episodes. It felt like the whole story of season 1 didn’t feel convoluted like some of the later seasons do. Still I love the show overall and honestly Season 4 in my opinion is the most underrated season.

I agree with everything, maybe except with season 4 because that one is one of my favorites due to nostalgia. Season 5 definitely is the best because it's when the show started to build up to everything that happened in the following seasons. But my personal favorite is season 3 because it has for me the best episodes.

I like this list but what is difficult for me is that 3 of my Top 10 episodes from the entire series are in Season 4. Crusade, Onyx and Commencement. In Crusade we get Flight, Lois Lane and Margot Kidder! What an episode! I also love the Season 7 arc going from Traveler to the finale. I think that group of episodes are just incredible. My worst season is 9. I like the Checkmate episodes and Absolute Justice but everything else in the season just simply didn’t work for me.

Hey bud! Thank you for this video, I really enjoyed it. I first saw Smallville when I was a kid (like 8 year old, and I watched like only the first 3 seasons); some months ago I was like "oh hell yeah I liked that show maybe I can watch one episode or two"; and now I only have 15 episodes left to finish the tenth season. I love that show, I swear, and I'm so sad it's going to finish so soon. Anyway, here is my ranking from worst to best (apart season 10, because I still have to finish it): 9th: s. 4: I actually think the Teagues (sorry if the name's not correct, I'm not english), son and mother, were pretty good, but I def hated the witch part (cringe af). But, despite that, thank God for Lois Lane 8th: s. 1: I mean, I loved it for Clark and Lex's relationship, but let's be honest, the "freak of the week" was a weak plotline 7th: s. 7: too many things to deal with, I didn't enjoy Kara so much and I hated the fact that Clark FORGAVE Lana... I mean, Lex was a piece of sh*t during their relationship and we all agree with that, but at the beginning she deliberately chose to stay with him. Despite that, I looooved Veritas and Lex 6th: s. 9: probably the BEST season finale the world has ever seen, and also I loved Zod's storyline and I pretty appreciated the Check Mate; but, at the same time, too many filler episodes (I totally hated them, I mean we had a lot of things going on) 5th: s. 2: I loved Virgil Swan, I loved Lionel Luthor. Still too many "freak of the week" episodes 4th: s. 5: Jonathan's death broke my heart (still crying); I loved the evolution Lionel made in this season and Brainiac was AMAZING (I really enjoyed him as Milton Fine doing pointless history lessons). Also, the best season finale after s. 9 (Zod knows his sh*t with the finales) 3rd: s. 8: Davis Bloom is such a good character for me, and Chloe is ON FIRE during this season. But this finale was probably the worst ever (it was totally pointless the fact that Bloom killed Jimmy; I mean, they made you believe that he was good for 21 episodes and that he killed people only because of Doomsday and at the end he's like "oh hell yes blood") 2nd: s. 3: so damn good. You are right, this is Lex and Lionel's season and they totally nailed it. 1st: s. 6: I don't know why, for me it was SOOO GOOD. This is the only time I kinda enjoyed the Lana drama: I totally hate Lana from s. 4 on, but here, in the first part of the season, she showed who she truly is, until she realized she was on the bad's side. Also, I loved how Lex here got madder and madder :)

PART 2 OF COMMENT 5. Season 5 - This is an exciting season - The show makes the decision to incorporate DC comics mythology, and we're finally getting away from meteor freaks and Kryptonian keys to things. Witches weren't cutting it, so now we're pulling from the comics itself, and very well too! The Fortress of Solitude (a fantastic use of CGI and a fantastic set), Aquaman, Cyborg, Braniac, and Zod! I love the Lana-Lex-Clark triangle (season 6 is one of my favourites), and a vulnerable Lana falling into Lex's subconsciously jealous, dark hands, is engaging to watch. Jonathan's death is heartfelt and handled fantastically throughout the course of the latter half of the season. The initial Clark-Lana melodrama feels quite tiresome initially, but it's payed off well with the Lex stuff at the end. Lionel funding Jonathan's campaign when Lex is running for mayor is great, a standard example of Lex's cruel parentage and how the world seems to be against him, driving him to be embittered, selfish, ruthless, and alone - Speaking of these traits, "Lexmas" is a fantastic episode, driving Lex to darkness expertly and tragically. Side note: "Thirst" is easily the worst episode of the show. What the heck was that?!! 4. Season 3 (WAS ORIGINALLY 3RD PLACE) - The Lionel and Lex stuff has never been better than in this season - Lionel aiming to drive Lex to insanity to wipe his memories, "Memoria" and the tragic revelations, and emotional confrontation and conversation that takes place between Lionel and Lex at the end. Lionel's ruthless scheming throughout the season, trying to outmaneuver the law and search for the Kryptonian key to the cave, it's great stuff. Things are dynamic enough this season, so that any meteor freak type shenanigans don't feel repetitive at all, like they did to some degree in the second season, and definitely in the first. Plots are less conventional, there's meteor influenced emails, Chloe's a meteor freak, or a meteor freak's a good guy who's the only one that can save the day! Adam's storyline almost feels like it goes nowhere, but is saved by a fantastic time travel episode. This season also starts out with an excellent bang, with the highly engaging Clark living in Metropolis on red kryptonite storyline - It concludes fantastically with an epic Clark vs. Jonathan fight, and the repercussions of his decisions on red K are felt expertly later on in the season, as crime boss Morgan Edge, comes back into the fold, and Jor-El continues to have a hold and effect over Jonathan. 3. Season 8 (WAS ORIGINALLY 4TH PLACE)- This season breathed new life into the show. Gone was Lana and a helluva a lot of melodrama, and in came spunky, fun Lois, being front and centre now. Clark, now free to stop moping around the farm about Lana, starts actively becoming a hero in Metropolis. This season defines the show as an all-out comic book show, DC mythology is all over the place with Maxima, the Legion of Superheroes, Bruno Manheim, Green Arrow etc., and the show has a sense of fun to it due to this, with a bustling imagination on display. Davis Bloome's storyline is done fantastically, you feel the dread of Doomsday, and have sympathy for Davis. It just gets darker and darker, more intense, and worse and worse with this situation, and the main characters are all under a ton of engaging stress. Lana's return does feel fairly misplaced even though her storyline is interesting - The Lana storyline feels like it indeed ran its course by season 7, the new drama feels regurgitated and like the writers are saying, "if you missed Lana drama, we won't skimp out on the goods!", when they definitely should've skimped. The way things are done here, it sadly and firmly wrongly, feels like Lois can be seen as a consolation prize for Clark too. Lana being a superhero does feel very cool to me though, it feels like she's earned superpowers after all she's been through. *Edit:* I just re-watched the Lana parts, and I've changed my mind, only having 5 episodes truly allows her storyline to breathe, and also ties in nicely with season 7 - Considering Lana and Clark are in love, it didn't really make sense that she left him, but now, we find out that Tess forced her to leave. Her mysterious journey allows generates excellent excitement and intrigue, and adds a cool new, interesting addition to the events of the season. Tess is a great replacement for Lex with her own dark, scheming temperament, filling in the void Lex leaves sufficiently. The Doomsday fight is very disappointing, I was expecting a Bizarro-type throwdown from the season 6 finale, and that fight didn't have any build-up. I suppose the reduced budget is showing due to a lower viewership, I still remember the palpable disappointment on the internet after the series finale had aired due to the fight. I was fine with the Jimmy twist and his heroic death was a good send-off for the character. Side note: In "Bride", after the Doomsday attack at Chloe and Jimmy's wedding, people are seen at Metropolis Hospital, not Smallville hospital from earlier seasons, which makes no sense as the Smallville one would be closer - This is because the set for the Smallville hospital was changed into the Metropolis one. Something should've been done to make it seem like Smallville hospital. The show changed sets sometimes - For example, Oliver's house was changed into the Ace of Clubs. 2. Season 6 - The Clark-Lex-Lana melodrama is super juicy to me! There's so much deep emotion here, so much deep desire and longing, anger, and pain from all these characters, and it feels like things are culminating well here for the characters' journeys. Lex is desperate for control and sinking further into ruthlessness and darkness, Clark and Lex's animosity for each other is growing, and Lana is getting sharper, and darker, and colder. It's enthralling stuff all round, and I simply love it! The Phantom Zone escapees raises the stakes very well for Clark, and there's some strong, standout battles here and there, with Zod, Titan, and Bizarro. Green Arrow is an excellent addition, and his relationship with Clark is an exciting and interesting relationship and dynamic. That mini Justice League episode didn't disappoint at all, it's satisfying every time you watch it, it actually, legitimately has the awe-inspiring sensation of watching "The Avengers"! 1. Season 9 - Side note: Clark vandalising property by burning an "S" into things never seemed right to me, sometimes he would do it on perfectly intact buildings, and that definitely seems wrong anyway. This season is absolutely fantastic. Never has a season been so consistently interesting, the Kandorian storyline provides new, fresh, exciting developments every few episodes, and the show, now fully and confidently engaged with the DC lore, has creative storylines bursting at the seams, with a zombie episode, Metallo even being a freakin' recurring character, Toyman returning, Checkmate, the Justice Society etc. Well done, creative episodes all around here! This season is ambitious and manages to pull off its ambitions - The episode set on Krypton is great, the episode set in a dystopian future is great, and the Justice Society two-part episode, while struggling slightly in the effects department, is strong too, relaying more complex mythology to viewers well, with well-realised, likable characters, that have good chemistry with the main cast. Zod is a fantastic character, the longing for power and his deep ambition is always palpable, you feel what's driving him when you look at him, and you can tell you'll never be safe with this guy around, as that drive will always make him scheme, threaten, and find some way to get what he's yearning for. The Kandorian supporting cast have enough well-realised characters to feel like a truly, personable entity. Tess is an expert player in all this, scheming in fun and interesting ways, and adding to situations nicely. The season finale is one of the show's best - Mobilising for war with the Kandorians, Clark and Zod's emotionally charged conversation about redemption, Lois being in the dangerous grips of Zod and finding out Clark's secret, and the final battle being wonderfully climatic and satisfyingly long, thanks to a nifty, smart use of blue kryptonite to take away expensive special effects requiring superpowers (... the fight still could've been longer though, and there was a bit too much slow-mo used). This is an excitingly eventful and intense finale due to the things I stated. The rain, the high height, and a classic superhero beam of energy during the Clark-Zod showdown are elements that make it an excellent, epic fight to conclude the season with.

I pretty much agree except with season 8. I have a love hate with it. First, I hate Chloe in that season. She is so annoying. Like, I know you can have feeling for different people, but she literally got officially engaged the episode before. Like, even before that season she was already hating on jimmy and not trusting him. Come on. They were on, they were off. They were on, they were off. Very annoying. Not only that, she kept helping Davis and made Clark seem like it was their fault Jimmy died when it was clearly Chloe. I mean Jimmy Olsen the Daily Planet photographer and CK’s best friend fucking died. But the thing that really ticked me off was Lana coming back. Even for that short period of episodes. Lana literally left him cause she was holding him back, but she comes back like it was nothing and interrupted Lois and Clark from their first real kiss. And it’s like all of Clark’s progress of getting over Lana in the first place went to crap. I had to wait a whole other season to just to get Clois back together. Overall, it is a good season. It’s just those points that drop it for me.

My ranking and explanation. As I give this ranking I believe all the seasons are pretty fantastic. The show itself was great and I was a huge fan of it. 10. Season 7 Season 7 was a bit all over the place. Some pretty good story arcs and episodes, but it was lacking on flow. I will say that the season finale was pretty great. How Lex found out about Clark on his own, and the encounter with Clark in the fortress of solitude was an epic scene. If this was a ranking on season finales then season 7 finale would be in the top half of my ranking. 9. Season 1 This is where it all began, and I love the introduction to the characters, and their development, and the innocence of this season. Other than that it's just the "villain of the week" type episodes and not a major story arc. The story arc would be the characters and how they fit in. The series premiere was a great kickoff to the show, and did well enough for me to be hooked right from the beginning. 8. Season 4 This was another season that had a pretty amazing season finale, and would be top half similarly to season 7. Unfortunately for this season, it was the season finale that prevented this ranking from going lower. The witch story arc was a bit weird. I wasn't a fan of the football angle with Clark. It was like the writers were trying to hold on to the high school theme that was prevalent in season 1 one last time. At least it felt that way for the first 10 episodes. I did like how Lana's character was developed outside of the witch story arc. I felt her relationship with Jason really helped develop her to be who she eventually became. This season Lana was grown up. That trip to Paris really matured her as she returned. Lois was great as she was introduced into the season. I wish this season could be ranked higher, but it's just a lot of episodes that really went nowhere to contribute to the season. 7. Season 2 This was a lot like season 1, but with a major story arc. I love that some major landmarks were highlighted in the season such as the Talon really coming into its own as a premier location for the show. The kowachi caves being a big one too. Clark beginning to learn who he is becomes a big moment in the show. As annoying as the Clark-Lana relationship was throughout the show, season 2 was their best chemistry moment, and I felt it was very authentic and natural on how it develops before it fell apart and got annoying quickly. 6. Season 5 Season 5 started with a bang and probably one of the best first half story arcs versus all first halves of the other seasons. Unfortunately after Jonathan died, the second half was less than promising. It could have been much higher on this list but stalled. I will say Reckoning was probably one of the greatest middle of the season type episodes of all episodes that reside in the middle of their own respective seasons. Reckoning could have been a season finale that's how good it was. I also loved how this was a transition season, moving away from meteor freaks to more galactic villains that we're used to seeing with Superman/Clark. 5. Season 8 The one thing I do love about season 8 is it gave Clark the opportunity to move on from his old life. I compare it to Lana in season 4. Lana really grew up in season 4. Clark really grew up in season 8. I also love how season 8 began the process of becoming 90% Metropolis, 10% Smallville. Seasons 1-4 was 90% Smallville, 10% Metropolis. Seasons 5-7 was 60% Smallville, 40% Metropolis. Season 8 was what a lot of fans were waiting for especially with Clark going into the daily planet. A lot of great episodes in this season. A big surprise and shocker in the end with the death of a main character. I also love the development of Clark and Lois that began in this season, and it didn't feel rushed, it felt natural, authentic, and flowed well. Really the only negative in this season was a pretty lame season finale. Not much of an epic ending between Doomsday and Superman. Even the brief Lana encounter at least brought closure to that whole Clark-Lana thing. 4. Season 10 Great way to end the series. Season 10 was pretty great in all levels. Good villain story, everything was put in place with an amazing series finale. I agree with the person in the video that Clark telling Lois on his own accord was one of the season's best moments. That is something that he hasn't really done with any of his friends before who all also knew his secret before he told them. 3. Season 3 I agree with the person on the video who said Lex and Lionel owned this season. It was pretty epic between those two, and really contributed to what Lex eventually becomes. I also loved how this season really showed the vulnerability of Clark in ways that we haven't seen before, and how he was trying to pick himself back up and move on from his transgressions. We can all relate to that. I thought Crisis was one of the best episodes of this season. It's up there with Reckoning (season 5) as one of the best middle of the season type episodes from other respective seasons. Just a lot of great character development and every character had to go through their own personal crucible. Not much negative to say about this season, and was the best of the high school seasons of Smallville. 2. Season 6 Season 6 is a lot like season 5 but the opposite. Season 6 had a lackluster first half, but it's second half was great. So great that it's number two overall for me. Justice League was awesome. I grew to love Oliver Queen's character which was introduced in this season. Solid season finale. I loved the episode Crimson when red-krypto Clark went all gangsta and burned everyone at Lex-Lana engagement party. One of Tom's best acting moments. Lana getting her first bread crumb to Clark's secret was a fun trail to follow. l so loved how it was this season, in particular the second half of this season, where Clark and Lex's relationship goes south and cements them hating each other from this time forth. This was also the season that Lex turns completely to the dark side and become the villain he would become. 1. Season 9 For me, it's the best season in Smallville. This was the season when Clark was officially ready to become Superman. Clark and Lois had amazing chemistry in this season. I love the enhanced effects which I believe was the best of all the seasons. This season really delved into the comics more than the other seasons. I also thought Zod was a pretty fantastic villain. I think he's tied for second with brainiac on how good he was as a villain in the entire series. Blue did a great job with his portrayal. I believe the season finale in season 9 was the best of all the season finales of Smallville. Watchtower was a very cool development. I love the absolute Justice League story arc. I also loved Oliver Queen's development in this season. Season 9 was to the second half of the whole series what season 3 was to the first half of the series. Very dark where crucibles had to be overcome by all characters. The difference is this season had more of an epic ending than season 3 in my opinion. With the exception of maybe a couple lame episodes (which all seasons have, some more than others), there is nothing negative I could really say about this season. I know not everybody's going to agree with my order, and there's not an order that's really bad because all the seasons were great.

Regarding the episode order, I agree with Durban with one big exception: Ep 4. I would move Ep 4 into the #2 spot -- that's how much I love the Search For The Stones! I especially love the way poor Lex keeps getting stones IN HIS HANDS, only to lose them every time. The stones also represent the transition from Clark the Smallville hometown boy to Clark in the bigger world, with bigger stakes and with the Fortress.

I have a couple of things. With Doomsday season 8. Couldn’t they just save Davis by splitting him from Doomsday and then have Clark fight Doomsday and then bring him To the phantom zone and destroy Doomsday’s body+Turning him into a Phantom. With Darkseid couldn’t they Made Darkseid look like a human without the usual Darkseid’s Color. Kinda like what they did with Brainiac making him look like a human instead of make him a robotic like person. That would have been so much better For me don’t you think.

With Doomsday I think the message was Davis, the human side, was just as much a monster as Doomsday. Season 9 is more than Clark just mourning Jimmy, he is coming to terms with the darkness in humanity. He was taught his human side was good not his Kryptonian side, and that view was truly challenged. I see what you mean about Darkseid. It definitely would've been more of a character that way. Maybe it would've been more interesting if he had possessed mirror-verse Lionel sooner, and walked the earth as him. I would've been down for more of that!

S4 is a mixed bag but some of the episode like Crusade, Run, Transference, Onyx & Commencement are some of the best of the entire series. I think I’d put 6 last tbh. Seasons 2 & 9 are the best.

Every Smallville season. My joint personal favourites are seasons four and six and my least favourite was season eight, but tbh I liked every season of this great show as it was so consistent and awesome and Clark Kent's journey in Smallville was nothing short of spectacular to watch imo after seeing every he went through before he took to the skies, though I agree some episodes and seasons were better than others but overall I loved every second of every episode of every season of this brilliant show thanks to its awesome cast and crew who did a fantastic job and why it lasted for ten seasons as everyone on Smallville must've been doing something right for it to last that long. Will we ever see anything like this again? Who knows but I'm happy that this show exists and I love it for what it is and what it did and I wouldn't change anything about it, though there’s places where the writing could’ve been better and Tom Welling could’ve put the Superman suit on. For me Smallville started off good with season one, two and three, got better with season four, five, six and seven, went down a little bit with season eight then picked up again a little bit with seasons nine and ten, but in all honesty, every season was good imo, though we all have our views on them and that's ok. Always Hold On To Smallville and Smallville Forever 🔴🔵👍🏻 #Smallville #AlwaysHoldOnToSmallville #SmallvilleForever

Honestly the one thing I took away from this show is that everything is done well. Yeah there were some things that went nowhere, but they gave it their all no matter what. From the production, to the acting, and the writing, this show to me is THE standard for writing/producing classic superhero shows.

My top 10 Ranking of the ten seasons from #10 to#1 from my least favorite to my absolute favorite would be... #10: Season 1 #9: Season 3 #8: Season 4 #7: Season 7 #6: Season 2 #5: Season 5 #4: Season 6 #3: Season 8 #2: Season 10 #1: Season 9 ( My 7-4 Ranks are VERY neck to neck! They were REALLY hard to Rank!) #7:

Season 8 is so damn hard to rank because overall it's one of the best most focused seasons by far throughout and I love the Davis Bloom storyline descending into madness and becoming Doomsday. I hated that finale. Hands down the worst finale of the show and never have I been so disappointed with this show. All that hype, all that promise just for that. It kills me everytime. The stuff with The Blur is also great. I also think Tess was a great addition to the cast and while she's no Lex they give her a lot of depth for a new character introduced in the eighth season of a show. They really developed her character and made her someone you are intrigued by and enjoy watching. But I agree the Lana storyline and bringing her back with powers and then her taking on Lex who's not really the Lex we've watched for Seven seasons so that and the finale drop it immensely for me and honestly I was disappointed with Oliver Queen this season. After his awesome introduction and storyline in Season 6 and bringing him back in Season 7 to now he's a full on regular in Season 8, I was expecting a full on Green Arrow and instead he was sidelined and that brings Season 8 down for me a few spots but my god the potential it had to be a top 3 season. Ughh! That finale kills me. Season 3 is actually the first full season of Smallville I watched and it was my first real introduction to TV shows so it will always hold a special nostalgic place in my heart and even back then I could tell that was going to be one of if not the best season of the series. I binge watched that Season so many times. It was my favorite season of any show for a long time and still is my favorite Smallville Season and while they waste a potentially great character in Adam played by Ian Somerhalder, there's really nothing to gripe about this season. It's so focused and has the same dark tone throughout and I love that. I agree this is Lex and Lionels season and Clark and Johnathons in a way as well. It's really a season with two different relationships with Lana wedged in the middle, Chloe gets an extended role here and she feels hurt and betrayed by Clark so she starts working with Lionel, Pete really doesn't have a lot to do here and they finally write him knowing there's not much more they could do. That mid-season finale is great two with three of Clarks biggest and baddest freak of the week villains coming back and teaming up and seeing Lex actually try to help him. Damn I was rooting for Lex this season hard. That finale is still the best episode and finale of the series in my opinion. It felt like award winning television. It was that good. The two part opener was also great and so was all the stuff with Jesse Metcalf. Honestly I could rave about this season and go on and on and on. Even the flashback episode with Clark's father Jor El and Lanas great aunt or grandmother whatever she was. I love that episode too. There's just so much to love about that season and the nostalgia will never die. Season 5 is my number 2 though when I first watched it, I was blown away and thought it was number one but after rewatches Season 3 took the number one spot again. Braniac really should've been a regular. James Marsters who I'm a huge fan of playing Spike in Buffy, when I found out he was gonna playing Braniac, I lost my shit and knew it was gonna be good and his performance would rival Rosenbaums as the best villain of the series. It did because Braniac is still number 2 for me all time. I'm not crazy about the finale and again with the Clark and Lana drama that keeps it from the number one spot where Season 3 the Clark and Lana drama was effective and essential to that season and the overall storyline but Season 5 it felt played out and tiresome at that point and I wanted him to just move on to Lois which they weren't there yet but a friendship did start developing in Season 5 but very early stages. Season 5 really did feel like four seasons of buildup and a lot of storylines finally coming to fruition. Chloe just gets better from here on out. Johnathons death was really sad and vital to Clarks growth. Also Lexmas is another top 10 episode for me. It's another episode and really the last remaining hope for Lex and to see him make the wrong choice is so sad and heartbreaking to watch. To see Lionel so cruelly turn his own son away when he's desperately asking for help is just crushing. At that point Lex really did love Lana and did want to change but when he saw her die and he couldn't do anything to save her, there was no going back and nothing left for him to look forward to. Overall great season and the last truly great season in my opinion. Not to say the later seasons aren't good they are but none ever reached the heights of Season 5 following after. Season 9 and 10 I have watched the least so I definitely need to rewatch those two again to truly see where I would rank them. I used to rank Season 9 at the bottom upon initial watch but I think I need to really sit down and rewatch it and same with Season 10. Season 7 I think the second half is among the best of the series. They really started to get into a groove there and try to finish strong with the writers strike and while it wasn't perfect I do think they tied up things as well as they could considering. Kara was wasted though. Season 6 I actually find to be the darkest season of the series even Season 3. It starts off really strong. Those first few episodes aren't bad and that middle first half is really good. It's the second half that falls apart with the Clark/ Lex/Lana love triangle. This season had so much potential but overall the focus wasn't where it needed to be and it's a very uneven season overall. I barely remember the finale as well. Season 4 has three top 10 episodes. Freaking nuts but it's the weirdest season by far and just all over the place. Jensen Ackles is wasted and I don't blame him for leaving and doing Supernatural cause he wasn't gonna get much development passed Season 4. I don't mind the Witch episode when Lana, Lois and Chloe get possessed. As a standalone episode it's a fun one and one that's great during Halloween but when that Witch storyline returns in Tokyo and then being linked to the Teagues is when it gets silly and you gotta ask yourself why, where are they going with this. I love that season opener and that finale. But even with those strong episodes and Onyx and hearing Clark say crowns mine bitch during that funny prom episode and the football storyline and bringing back Clarks old love and Chloe finding out Clarks secret it's still just a weird unfocused season that doesn't connect at all. Season 2 has a good story throughout and there's not really many filler episodes either which is great for a sophomore season to a new hit show. The finale was also great, the JTT episode is one of my personal favorite freak of the weak villains and of course the Christopher Reeves episode, the episode where Lex has to take on a bunch of robbers, the Paul Wesley episode where Lex step or half brother returns, i wish they brought him back for more episodes, the ancient tale of good vs evil and Lex and Lionel trying to uncover what's in the caves, Heat, Ryans last episode, there are a lot of great episodes here. Season 1 I think laid a great foundation and there are some great moments and episodes here. This is by far my favorite Lana season when she was likeable. Couldn't stand Whitney at all and loved the introduction of Lionel and Chloe. I can't do an accurate ranking until I rewatch Seasons 9 and 10 but Season 3 and Season 5 are definitely top two hands down. Season 2 is in third for now but that could definitely change if 9 or 10 end up aging better for me upon rewatch.

I think that proper Lana goodbye would've been her death at "Reckoning" instead of Jonathan, with her dying despite Clark trying to change the past. Jonathan could've died in S6 opening, being the ultimate sacrifice to stop Zod. That way, we'd still have Clark mourning his father AND love interest. Lois could've end up with Lex in S6. That way, there would still be "Clark against the world" feel that we had in S6, but it would've been way darker and could put seeds of doubt inside CK that would eventually lead to S10 and whole Darkseid arc. But would've been way too depressing for soap teen drama, I guess. Nevertheless, first half of S5 is probably the best 12 episodes of the show straight. At that time, Smallville felt more like a serious drama than your Thursday evening TV show. OG show at it's peak. UPD: also, the last few episodes of S7 truly show that potential which it had. The series should've completely focused on Lex-Clark showdown starting in "Descent" till finale. Had distractions here and there instead. And whole "Arctic" showdown should've been separate episode instead of a few minutes. Like, people were waiting for it for 7 years, come on.

@@ChrisDurban that’s awesome man. Yea I couldn’t believe that either when I saw that. Batman tas universe is my favorite story of Batman. I own everything in that universe . I made my own movie that is suppose to happen I say before the first episode. Like I used a lot of flashbacks for the movie and just little scenes from Batman year one and one scene from the Batman. let’s see if I can remember all what I used lol. And my movie I call it Batman year one lol. Then I did a short one with the robin reckoning flashbacks and mad love flashback So in my universe Batman year one and two fan edits Mask of the phantasm Batman tas Subzero The new adventures Superman tas Mystery of the Batwoman Justice league shows Bstman beyond Return of the joker Epilogue So the title is first Batman year one Then the first scene is the flash back where Bruce watches the grey ghost. Then the scene flashback from justice league where the Wayne’s are killed, then I added the little scenes u see in his mind of him being upset as kid when it happened, then of Alfred with him at the funeral from strange secret of Bruce Wayne. Then skipped years and showed him on the plane from year one and I say in my fan movie he’s leaving Gotham. Then of course I show the zatanna and night of the ninja flashbacks. Then I show when he came home in year one, then show the flashback to mask of the phantasm. Then I show the animated series promo short. Then I used the little scene where it showed Jack Napier fall in the acid, then I showed a little of the scene where the cops are after him in year one. Then the flashback to how he got his bat mobile Then it ends with the little scene from the Batman where Gordon and Batman make a teamup.

6:38 Yeah, I guess in the moment I was so grateful that they were _finally_ putting Lana in the loop that I never really stopped to consider how clumsily and nonchalantly it was done. I mean, pick any random episode where she's the damsel in distress and then have her just _not_ get knocked out for once(!) and it probably would've been a more affective sequence.

Can't wait to see your ranking Durban. Just a little more than hour until we get to see it. Here's mine least favorite to favorite. 10. Season 10- I love Smallville more than any other show but not doing Darkseid, one of Superman's most formidable villains, justice is so disappointing. That final scene was amazing though. 9. Season 9- Unfortunately when I think of Zod in Smallville I instantly think of when Lex was possessed by him. So when I watch this season even if they're Zod at different points in his life I automatically compare him to that version of Lex in my head and he's just not as good. Seeing Dr Fate was amazing though. 8. Season 3- Love Lex's insane storyline this season for great T.V purposes not that I like seeing Lex go through that and I love the one off episodes where it's like season 1 and we have different meteor freaks every week but this seasons finale to me isn't as good as any of the other seasons. Seeing fake Supergirl taints this one for me cause I was so excited when I first watched thinking we were finally seeing Supergirl and it's not even her. Asylum is amazing though I love that episode. 7. Season 7- Great season. Lex shows us how truly horrible he can be and we get the answer to the question we've been wanting answered since season 1 "How would Lex react if he found out Clark's secret?". He'd betray him and try to kill him was the answer. Damn you Lex. Seeing Bizarro and Brainiac working together was another highlight. I like seeing Super villains team up only to be knocked back down by Clark. 6. Season 5- Awesome season. The buildup to winning the political position between Jonathan and Lex was interesting, The new superheroes we got this season were fun, Brainiac tricking Clark into trusting him was masterful on his part even though I hate Brainiac, gotta give the devil his due, and the finale with Zod trapping Clark in that rotating cube though I didn't like it at first is pretty cool on rewatches. 5. Season 8- The season with the most potential. It still is a 10 out of 10 season for me because the buildup to Doomsday is perfect but if they just had a long 3 to 5 minute fight between Clark and Doomsday plus Doomsday versus Smallville's Justice League this season would've been at the top. But anyway Lex's return Rosenbaum or not was phenomenal I hated him just as much as I hated him at the end of season 7 and cheered for Oliver putting him out of his misery. Lana's return is one of my favorite returns in the whole show. They did her character justice and had her story come full circle as just like at the start of the show she once again is that hot lady Clark can't be with cause of the Kryptonite. 4. Season 2- Such a memorable season. One of the best finales, loved the romance buildup between Helen and Lex before she went crazy and tried to kill him, love and hate seeing Clark talk to Jor-el's recordings in the ship. Love it because it allows Clark to take another step closer to fulfilling his destiny but hate it because Jor-el wants Clark to cut everyone he cares about, his true family out of his life. Red, Whitney's return, Christopher Reeve, Lex's half brother, Clark and Lana getting together finally, cool meteor freaks among lots of other things. Amazing season. 3. Season 4- The second meteor shower what a fantastic idea from the writers. We seen what the meteor shower was like when Clark wasn't there to protect everyone what would it be like if he was nearly all grown up? I truly believe Clark or Superman is the greatest superhero ever and if we just had that one superhero in real life and Smallville's version of course cause he's my favorite interpretation of the man of steel, the world would be a better place. But yeah the sacred stones, the three ancient witches, Lionel in prison, Alicia returning, Lois arriving as well as Jensen Ackles and the introduction of the Veritas group are my favorite things about this season. 2. Season 1- The season that started it all and my most watched season. God I love this season so much I can't even put it into words to describe how much I love it. But I'll try. The premiere episode with the meteor shower is incredible. Then all the meteor freaks that would come as a result of that are even even more amazing. This season has the best meteor freak lineup in my opinion. Sean Kelvin, Tina Greer, Greg Archin, the Coach, Justin, Jody and so many more. The meteor freaks are nothing compared to the comic villains we get later I agree 100% but still their formidable and interesting enough in my opinion to warrant a whole episode with Clarks full attention. Then we get Clarks love story with Lana where you have all these things keeping them apart and even when Clark gets the opportunity to be with Lana at Whitney's expense being Lana's then current boyfriend he doesn't take it cause it'd be wrong. Then there's Clark's awesome parents just the best parents I've seen in any show so supportive of Clark always no matter the situation. Last thing I'll say is the finale is incredible I think it still holds up today. 1. Season 6- And of course the season that I feel is the best season is season 6 it's just got so much to offer. Like I said before the phantom zone escapees are the real deal they aren't some troubled kid who suddenly has powers. These are ruthless criminals who were so bad and evil they were locked up in the phantom zone. And they prove that each coming close to killing Clark. The formation of the Justice League is such a payoff when we've been watching the members meet Clark for the last few seasons. Lana-Lex-Clark love triangle is so entertaining. And I know he counts as part of the phantom zone escapees but he's so cool I'll signal him out. I'll never forget that moment Bizarro's flying towards the camera and there's that moment where I think it's somehow Clark but you can suddenly see the cracks in his face and you realize nope that's Bizarro. What a way to end the season.

Great ranking! Personally, my ranking would be this: 10. Season 7 (a lot of dumb episodes and plot points) 9. Season 6 (the triangle is all I remember other than the Justice League. This season is just very empty.) 8. Season 4 (a lot of pointless episodes. I didn’t like the stone arc or the Lana drama. I kind of wish she left for Paris in season 3 since people growing up and moving on was a strong theme in 3x21. There were some good episodes and moments though. Alicia’s arc was one of my favorites, I like the Simple Plan football field scene, and the season finale was honestly kind of terrifying at points.) 7. Season 1 (the pilot is one of the strongest episodes in the series, but other than that, this season was a lot of filler. A lot of great character setup though.) 6. Season 8 (I like the idea of giving the series a soft reboot after the bad season 7. Although, I don’t like the retcon of Doomsday arriving with Clark. Also what was the point of recasting kid Lex in the field from the pilot for one shot when in the series finale, they use the original shot from the pilot. But Darth Maul / Starkiller / The Son is in this season, so that’s enough to really enjoy it for me.) 5. Season 10 (a great origin story, but like the first season: a lot of filler. I kind of wish this season was shorter with a better distributed budget. Also I don’t like that we don’t see Tom Welling in the suit. Homecoming was great though.) 4. Season 5 (monumental Superman lore is included in this season. Not perfect because “Thirst” is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen, but other than that: very strong moments. But other than those things, there wasn’t much this season did for me. Maybe I need to rewatch it.) 3. Season 2 (Christopher Reeve. Also lots of filler, but REALLY FUN filler.) 2. Season 3 (Shattered, Asylum, Crisis, Legacy, Memoria, Forsaken. Amazing episodes are in this season. Even the filler ones are at least fun. This one is just amazing!) 1. Season 9 (the only season to have a clear beginning middle end story in my opinion. I love what they did with Zod and that we are pretty much in Superman: Year One. I know that technically began with season 8, but this season was just Superman with the methods of Batman. Also the light hearted stuff was done so well.) While the show was poorly written a lot, I genuinely felt that when it was strong: IT WAS STRONG. But when it was bad, it was…kinda garbage. I do find it funny that this and Superman & Lois are the only two to get Superman’s core right. I love Cavill as Superman and think Man of Steel is a good elseworld akin to The Dark Knight Trilogy, but it DOES NOT understand the character. I love Christopher Reeve, but his Superman was too boyscout to the point where he wasn’t human. I’m really hoping James Gunn’s Superman 2025 does the character justice.

Great ranking and great thoughts on each season. I agree when Smallville was bad, it was bad. But when it was great and it was GREAT! It was a show that was on that right time in my life and I really love it! It has my favorite live action Lex Luthor and Lois Lane. I also hope James Gunn’s Superman is good. The DCEU was just so disjointed and exhausting (and I like Man of Steel and the Snyder Cut), as much I want to be excited for it I’m kind of in a “wait and see mode.” So many reboots! But of course I will see it. I do like the photos from set of the Super S.

Idk what my ranking would be, never really thought about it, I do know my least favorite of the show and my favorite season. Seasons 4 and 6 are my least my favorite seasons. I really don't care for the drama Lana brings. Everytime she is on screen, it feels like high school drama bs. The first couple seasons where they are in high school, that I can get behind it being high school drama bs cuz it is taking place during that so it just makes sense. But I just can not stand Lana after Season 5. I also just really care for Season 5 tbh all that much too. My favorite season is probably Season 9. The writing and fights in this season is awesome. Zod vs Clark is just awesome.

There were six problems with Smallville that were easily avoidable: 1. No flights, no tights: This was relevant in the first five seasons, but by season 6 it made Clark seem like he was operating with one hand tied behind his back. Clark should've started flying earlier, and he also should've been able to wear the Superman outfit for more than just the final scene in the final episode. 2. Metropolis in Kansas: It is logistically and geographically impossible for any city the size of Metropolis to be located in landlocked Kansas, especially since Vancouver doubled for Metropolis, a city that is surrounded by water. Metropolis is an east coast city. 3. Meteor freaks and Kryptonite being the reason for everything: The X-Files and Buffy the Vampire Slayer managed to do the monster-of-the-week storyline much better by properly balancing them out with the main mythology episodes and character story arcs. Smallville became too dependent on meteor freaks and needed to develop its characters better. 4. Lana Lang: LANA LANG IS NOT THE WOMAN CLARK ENDS UP WITH AND IS NOT THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE!!! So don't write her like that. She's Clark's high school love interest and has little to no relevance after high school ends in season 4, so her relationship with Clark should've ended for good by season 5. Dragging that storyline out only dragged down the show. 5. Lois Lane and Chloe Sullivan: After five seasons of buildup, Chloe Sullivan should have become Clark's new love interest after season 5 instead of wasting her character on a sophomoric and inconsequential relationship with the doomed James Olsen, and wasting Clark on two more seasons of obsessing over Lana long after that storyline had run its course. Also, Clark's relationship with Lois Lane should've began much sooner without Lana Lang hanging like a shadow over them and undermining Lois. 6. Bruce Wayne: Not only did Smallville need Bruce Wayne in Clark's storyline as his best friend, but Warner Bros. should have allowed The WB to go forward with their original plan to create a Gotham-style television show to run as a companion to Smallville in a shared universe, a project that was already being developed back in 1999 as "Bruce Wayne." No disrespect to Justin Hartley, but Oliver Queen is a poor substitute.
