A highly experienced civil engineer, who has constructed over 4000 houses in the region, collaborated with a team to develop a home concept that maximizes comfort from an energy efficiency perspective. The house features a unique design with a stainless-steel rotating cube displaying the house number arithmetically, and a floating slab with the number 26 cut out to create a beautiful night projection. Situated on a 40' x 60' north-facing plot in a sub-tropical area, the house is designed with large openings to facilitate fresh air circulation and retain nighttime coolness. The design avoids windows on the outer periphery to keep the interior 8°C cooler than the outside during the day.
The island kitchen and exposed concrete staircase add visual appeal, and a window made from a repurposed washing machine door provides a street view for the client's pet. Custom steel fins obstruct direct views from outside and reduce noise levels. Volcanic ash plaster covers the exposed walls and roof, while recycled furnace brick flooring in the car park minimizes heat radiation. Rainwater is fully harvested, and various energy-efficient measures reduce power consumption by 60%. The house extensively uses recycled industrial materials, making it distinguished in engineering and architectural aspects.
