Great episode, the future is exciting with the advent of new technology. However, looking at the state of the construction industry in South Africa. I doubt the many construction professionals in SA are ready as they still stuck in the conventional way of building and hardly explore alternative methods of building. The industry has the lowest rate of adoption of technology. I think we might import the talent to design the city. For the country to compete in the 4ir, smart cities will be a crucial infrastructure to facilitate trade.
Hey Mpho bro, deep insights there bro! Unfortunately we did not get to talk about whether SA will be outsourcing skills to build such a smart city and you’ve just answered that! Honestly, it’s heartbreaking to some degree, will we be hiring contractors and sub-contractors from outside to set this one out?
