I'm in the industry and own a smart repair company, I have to say hats off to you sir for giving it a go! There are many things I personally would of done different, that being said if you achieved the desired results based on the materials you had to hand and effort put in, in my eyes there should be no criticism. Thank you for sharing the video.

Thanks - yes it was a 'horses for courses' job and as you know thermoplastic is not the best material for repairing unlike GRP.

If you welded it with a big capacity soldering iron it welds quite easily and can be reinforced with wire mesh the hole will need a piece of something put in there though the rest will weld from behind easily. Smart panels are on Ebay but wrong colours , the 453 is not common enough yet.

Wow thats all I can Say is Wow. I have done repairs similar but we use plastic welder and body filler and paint and the fender looks like new. He right about the people running into these cars i can understand why but smart cars attract bad drivers to hit you

Loved the drilled keying method. Something I hadn't considered on my cheap/improv type repairs. I have an old Ford Puma that I picked up for a steal, which I use as my expendable work and dodgy areas runabout (TT for the weekends). I normally just banged the rusty bits out, put the grinder on it aggressively, until fairly clear, washed off dust, dried, built the missing material back up with that metal putty epoxy stuff, scrape/carve the shape, then grind, maybe another layer of the putty stuff, and another grind and sand, wash, dry, prime, sand, prime, paint. seemed like a good finish, but would be nice to strengthen the area and the bond between materials. Is it really worth doing fibreglass repairs anymore? (unless it's s big gash maybe)

Jeremy, I'm very interested in the product "Chemical Metal" that You used. Where can I purchase it? And is it perhaps sold under a different name? I used to get this under the name of "sculpt metal"from a company in New York. But they went under. I realize this video was published some time ago, but maybe you could let me know. Thanks a bunch Jeremy !

How much will it cost to replace the front frame?

you should have carried on with the flatting down. I no its a diy job but the basis was there to get a good finish.. flat it right down with 180 grit and use high build primer.

+Adam Slater Thanks for telling me what I should have done! The title and aim of the video is QUICK REPAIR because my car is damaged almost daily on the hill where I live. There is no point in getting a very high finish. It would please me greatly if after the efforts of filing and editing that you actually watch the video and listen to the narrative otherwise I feel I am wasting my time! These 'you should have ' comments overlook the word QUICK REPAIR (using basic methodology) as stated in the description!

You know what's funny. I was actually appraising the work you did.. Doing a diy job as the techniques were good. I wasn't criticising.. you didn't do a quick repair. you did 80% of a proper repair. You mise as well have finished it off acrylic clear and 1k Base colour from Halfords..

+Adam Slater Im sorry you still miss the point. The repair is horses for courses based on over 50 years of my experience. Once i get these kind of comments it is an open invitation for others to go down thaty road. I am completely receptive to improving my methodology but do I need to spell out that the repair has to make the car safe because the same wing is damaged every week by clumsy drivers!!!! If you want a "proper job" watch my other videos on advanced woodworking. But this job in this video is appropriate to the situation. If this is a troll then I simply delete it.

+Adam Slater Incorrect I did 100% of a QUICK repair. I do not have time to discuss what is PROPER. You are entitled to your opinion but please don't tell me what I SHOULD have done when I did the fastest and cheapest repair possible and shared this on RU-vid . Thanks!

I have a question about the painting of the Rolls, where old cars painted by hand instead of being sprayed? Just wondering. Thank You.
@WoodomainJeremyBroun

Rolls Royce was famously painted by hand. In my youth I hand-painted my Morgan 3-wheelers with the legendary Valentine Valspar enamel paint - it showed no brush marks. Unfortunately I could not find a brushstroke-free paint for the RR so I used a roller. I intend painting my Raffo Belva using this method. The paint is very tough.
