Saker reached out to me to test out one of their Grease Gun Coupler and this is my thoughts on it.
I've never seen a grease coupler like this before and I definitely was interested in giving it a try.

I worked in a truck shop and we wiped off the dirt first so you don't push it into the bushings

That's why a lot of guys don't wipe off the excess grease that comes out of the zerk. They claim that it protects the zerk from debris and corrosion. Although my clean and OCD nature simply wouldn't allow such a mess to be left in that state!

@@Guillotines_For_Globalists its not after it's before you grease the fitting

I have used a similar couple for a few years called LockNLube. Bought it initially to grease the landing gear on my Beechcraft Debonair, as there are a few zerks that are a bear to get to and hold the coupler in position while you pump the grease gun. It made the job much easier. I bought another that I use in the shop on my Kubota and John Deere tractors. Like you mentioned, there are a few places that are to tight to get the LockNLube coupler into, like u-joints, where I have to use a regular Lincoln coupler. I'm sure you'll be happy with the Saker coupler in the shop. While they are a little pricey, the savings in broken zerks, wasted grease and frustration are worth the price. Good video, Scott.

Tool works pretty slick. We grease our equipment daily. This tool allows for 2 hands to pump rather than awkward holding of grease gun for those stubborn grease nipples. Thanks for the review.

I may have to give the Saker a test, I have the long Lock N Lube coupler on my Milwaukee M18 grease gun and a short Lock N Lube coupler on another and both work flawless with the Milwaukee M18 grease guns. You should try the Lock N Lube coupler, it’s a smaller diameter.

I use one like that in my shop, it will spoil you. It really shines when adjusting the tracks on a dozer with a high pressure grease gun. I have 5 grease guns with 5 different tips. The locking one is alway grabed first. I thought that was very brave to keep pumping grease in that hub and not worry about that seal poping.

I am surprised you don't have battery operated grease guns. I am not a machine shop guy, so I guess things could be pretty hard on the equipment. I really like the Lube Shuttle grease system. I have the manual pistol grip unit and it doesn't leak grease in the southern US climate. With the old spring / plunger guns I always had a pool of grease that melted out in the heat. Keep up the good work sir. 😁👍

Scott, I really like your pit. I like the test of the SmartSaker coupling. I've seen them before, but seeing it in action tells me I need one. Thanks for the video.

These are excellent and can be recommended, with the single drawback being the length of the fitting. In tight areas there is no way to get it in there. Josh Topper noted the same problem.

When I first started at my spring shop it took me about 2 weeks before I got a dewalt electric greased. I'll never go back to a manual pump. I also have a lock and lube great grease ends

I'm a mower wrench with no help. First think I did is get a Milwaukee M 12 series grease gun. I can hold the coupler on, pull the trigger n the grease goes. Some of those fittings are in the oddest places. Most of the time I have limited in space so this won't work for me but man...if it's wide open...that would be great. I usually run out of grease way before the battery needs charging...got it like 6 years ago and the original battery still works...it's getting ready though for a replacement.

yes I want to get a Milwaukee grease gun very badly, but for some reason I just can't pull the trigger on buying a $290 grease gun

I checked pricing. They are cheaper than "Lock&Lube" which I own and am happy with. So, I would definitely buy them at todays prices.

Looks like a good product. Did you know that with the old style grease fittings that you can adjust them to fit various sized zerk fittings? Who actually does that though? And also does this improved version have any sort of adjustment for zerk fitting size or does it automatically adjust to anything you throw at it?

Regular grease nozzles are adjustable. You turn the collar to adjust the grip of the teeth. That said, lock-n-lube types are the best.

Odd setup for somebody that frequently greases. Expected a much longer whip on your guns, and really surprised none of them are pistol grip. Your entire setup requires two hands on a good day... three on a bad day. Saker is interesting. I'll stay with locknlube as they are carried in many parts stores now.

@@simcoespring I was wondering the same thing, why you found the lever style to be your go to over pistol grip. I think the lever style is just a lot more old school. In your industry a large industrial air pressurized setup might be convenient for you.

another guy ( Topper Machine) tested that product and found that it was too big, round, to fit on recessed grease fittings other than that worked fine like you did

Looks like a rip off of the Lock N Lube which Ive been using for years now. Buy yourself a Dewalt or Milwaukee (whichever brand you prefer they are both good) battery powered gun with a long whip hose and you'll love it. Like you I left one standard tip on a manual gun to grease steering shaft u-joints on semi's but even then I can typically fit the LockNLube end. I really enjoy your channel, thanks!

I just make up a shorter hose with a male nipple on one end and a female coupler on the other and just use that hose I made up on those hard to get at fittings. Just clip on the made up hose to the new clip on coupler. That way you don’t tie up a grease gun just for just those few times. We use a power gun Milwaukee and a Dewalt

Bought the cheap one from Harbor Freight. It's better than the original but not as good as this one. It's just spring loaded.

Kinda funny to watch someone use a manual grease gun. Battery grease guns such as Milwaukee or DeWalt or Lincoln make life so much easier. Paired with this coupler would be a good match but some fittings I have are difficult to get to and this wouldn't fit.
@jackrichards1863
@jackrichards1863 Год назад
Grease nipples must be spotless on the mating surface and completely undamaged. It's a steel on steel connection. Also the gun fitting should be aligned to the nipple squared off to help seal. When soil gets into the fitting it will begin to fail. Then it's got to be stripped and washed clean then reassembled. The locking fitting is far from a new idea ,but being bulky and extra cost are often left off the shopping list.

Wouldn't kill you to wipe the fittings off first (just saying). But yeah I ordered one.
