The drum sound on the studio version AND this live version, is brilliant. In fact, the drum sound and mix on all of the live performances I have seen videos of, is perfect. Whoever mixed their sound and especially captured the drums (and whoever tuned them) is genius.
These days we’ve got Terry Goldberg killin it on audio. This specific mix was done by The Master. Mr. Eddie Caipo. I worked with him for years with Smash Mouth as well as Enrique Iglesias. He’s one of THE best engineers out there hands down.

i believe with all my heart that this should've been your guys' biggest hit. All Star, as much as i love it, became huge kinda by accident. This one feels like it has more punch, more soul, and more wit to it. especially that high note Steve hits at 3:06. im kinda sad that i didn't really get into Fush Yu Mang until just recently, but i've been jamming out to it ever since. I'm excited to see what more stuff you guys are gonna get up to with Zach Goode at the helm, and I wish Steve the best with his life.
Posting another comment because I realize now the channel is one of the band members. Hey Sean, good stuff! Always loved this song, and Fush Yu Mang is one of my all time fave albums (in my top 10 for sure).
RIP Steve. I hope he's at peace now. He must've been so tortured to have drank the way he did. He was no lightweight either. He had heft to him. So I can only imagine how much alcohol it takes to destroy his liver the way it did.

There was a live album that came out last year through Sony. Really cool actually. Other than that, touring a lot...but tbh, I've been really busy with Enrique Iglesias and I've been missing shows with the guys. Hoping to do some more with them soon :-)

Sorry Matty. I love Greg, he wrote some amazing songs and still does. I was listening just the other week to a new track he wrote with Michael Klooster. I have a lot of respect for him and I'm just trying my best to recreate his parts with the band. You should come hang after a show some time. Respect. Sean

I just decided to revisit the music and noticed Greg wasn't playing. You have an awesome opportunity with this band! Been listening to Magic and it's got a great upbeat vibe to it! His vocals are kinda soft for thus song. steve harwell has a huge ego and he fails at singing now. dunno if he ever sounded good live or not but he sounded great on the albums
You mean lip sync not sing, and I’m sorry to tell you that was a full live performance mixed on the spot by our masterful engineer Eddie Caipo. He’s a beast.
The instruments are mixed well- its the vocals. Sounds like they aren't really compressed or seated well at all in the mix. It sounds more like a guy singing in his car over the track from his speakers
+wattdog16 well...i think the levels are fine with the Vox and they match what was being done. When we play full arenas, it doesn't sound like a guy singing in his car 😉 I guess it's just taste when it comes down to it. Think you can do better? Where are you from? Age? Send me your resume. Lol, sure- send me the stems from the live session and Ill mix the vocals a lot better than this. I am from Massachusetts. Like I said, the instruments sound really good- but it sounds like there might not be a high enough low cut and not enough compression on the vocals- it makes it sound like the vocals are just louder than everything, rather than being seated and CUTTING/punching through the mix. Their live mixers on some of their other live performances of this song sound a lot more pleasing to their and you can still hear the vocals clearly. P.S. Im not listening to this on an iphone or anything- Im in my treated studio w/ solid jbl monitors
