Yeah I'm pretty stoked. I only play with a few friends of mine in person and picked up ROB a few months ago and was sad that there wasn't an Izaw guide. Now gonna watch this many times 😊
IzAw you're videos are so clean and professional and so well edited. Prime work. That first "because he needs it" caught me off guard. 😂 Sheik next please please please! 🙏🏼
The Gyro on the ground knocks in the direction ROB is facing ONLY when it's thrown or dropped, not shot. While it's spinning on the ground with down b, it sends away from the gyro. That explains the gyrozone and everytime the opponent tries without success to catch grounded gyro. I'm referring to 5:57
Just wanted to make a small correction, it sends away from it once it is spinning on the ground specifically. If it’s shot from down B but it hasn’t settled yet, it will follow the same rules and behaviour as if it were tossed from hand.
Something not covered in this video: the startup frames of R.O.B.'s Up-B give him an "ungrabable" state akin to what you get after being thrown. This can lead to funny situations like Captain Falcon's Up-B not being able to command grab R.O.B. off-stage.
pyra and mythra. there's a "how to" dlc video out on them, but no art of. would love to see a second, more in depth guide especially because bair strings are so tough.
Not mentioned in the vid: after landing nair, you can run under your opponent and turnaround z-drop gyro. This is very handy if in the corner and need to turn around and generally more consistent than using uair to turnaround. Another little trick at 0 is if you're on ledge and someone is standing at neutral get up, you can drop from ledge, dj toss gyro, nair. If you hold forward all the way, depending on positioning, you'll cross them up and hit them with the backside of nair after the gyro toss, leading to the usual double toss confirm off-stage. This video is so good tho. Happy labbing~
Amazing video, as always! Would you ever do an art of joker video? I know you made a joker video back when he released but a more in depth guide would be great, imo
I just wanna say that your commitment to continue this series is incredible, I love watching your guides whenever trying to main a new character (which happens a lot xD) KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
so hyped that this came out!!!! Thank you for this!! Does anyone know why holding shield, jump, and A and forward auto catches gyro after up throw? Also why does throwing gyro do like 1.5% more damage and go 3 tiles farther than throwing it with A or control stick LOL
The grabbing gyro is to do with buffered inputs where grabbing has higher priority than other inputs. As for the gyro dealing more percent, item tech in smash ultimate is incredibly complex. In this scenario, what's happening is that every character has both a tilt and smash throw in each direction with unique frame data. When pressing a, rob does a tilt throw which launches the gyro at a slightly lower speed. This is why you need smash stick on to do the method in the video. This usually wouldn't affect things, but gyros damage is proportional to its velocity, so unlike other items, it being thrown faster does matter. It's also why if you shoot a gyro at a king k rool using the blunderbuss vacuum off-stage, the wind speeds the gyro up and make the k rool practically explode off the side. I'd reccomend checking out whydo's video on item tech, though even that barely scratches the surface
7:33 Why did you say to jump? I was always taught that you just cancel initial dash into up B. I went back and looked at some older Rob videos and they don't mention anything about jumping. Was that an error? Or is the burner boost better with a jump? I've been trying it with a jump and I don't see a difference but perhaps I'm missing something.
Great vid! I'd love to see diddy kong next, just like rob (and snake which I think coming soon) he's a meta pick with a ton of options in neutral and advanced tech
I’ve been asking for a guide on megaman even though I discovered mostly everything. Now I think about it it would propably be to complex to do a guide since megaman buster alone is harder to master than most the roster
I love that we can hear how much you suffered against some of these options. I know a mate that wanted to pick up R.O.B. but I am unsure if I want to send him this cause this looks like a nightmare to play against. Could you maybe make a guide how to counter R.O.B. too? Cause in this video it sounds like there is like no counterplay at all?
I kinda like that ROB is an actually good character now. If you don't know, the entire gaming industry wouldn't even exist were it not for what ROB represents. My dude deserves the relevance
What I got from this video is either I’ve not been fighting real ROBs on Elite Smash, or my Samus is good as rushing them down before they start their BS.
IzAwSmash I’m still struggling but on how to combo with other characters don’t know how to time the combo right but what character should I use and I’m using is R.O.B and I’m still struggling a bit can help me on how to combo with please IzAwSmash.
Recovery moves cause your character to grab the ledge from further away. In the clip, ROB is using up-special in order to “snap” to the ledge quickly for the ledge trump.
How on earth is it that 1 individual is better at my main than me, and is probably better at every character than most of the community for that character is. Like wow
I know this videos pn R.O.B but i gotta ask, does anyone know how to start learning smash? O basically have 4 hours and still wven cant input any move by themselves. Just wondering any specific techniques for inputsvor just learning the game
This same channel has some banger "art of smash" videos, I highly recommend them! Just remember to master techniques before moving onto the next part (there are 5 parts) and look into character specific, up to date tips and tricks. Also try to pick one character as your main, who you will play for the majority of the game. Trying to learn a ton of characters at a time is a nightmare! I personally play Lucina, with Zelda and Greninja as secondaries if I feel like it.
