Genesis 8 was Smash’s first Supermajor since February 2020, and as expected it was complete and utter madness. 17 upsets with an upset factor of 5 or higher occurred, giving credence to Ultimate’s reputation as a volatile game. Despite this, one thing was consistent, and that was T1 | MkLeo’s journey to his fourth ever Genesis championship win. We analyze his dominance through bracket, who the biggest agents of chaos were through pools, and what’s on the horizon for Ultimate’s competitive future.

to me, his real demon is tweek. Gluto seems to struggle against his diddy, while tweek knows his wario very well And I wonder what would happen if tweek does not get eliminated so early. Would glutonny be able to conquer him in his impressive run? Or would tweek cut his run short once again? Hopefully we might see this match at Pound!

0:54 Leo is really emotionally intelligent, he wins grand finals and instead of immediately popping off, he looked over at how upset gluttony was calmly gets up and waits for him to register the loss before going up and giving him a hug. Super glad someone like him is number 1

when Marss is on, he is ON. he has some magical ability to win every insane gamble i swear. the problem is it's hard to be consistent with it especially when you're playing a nerfed zss. had he not gotten tilted by Olimar and his Joker was more practiced, i think he would've gotten 4th (i don't think anybody in losers was beating gluto lol)

I don’t think he was happy with his placement (by his demeanor on the stage at the end), but has to be happy with how he performed up until then. He had most of the most hype games/plays for the entire tournament. I think he just burned out, there was a clear difference in how he was playing and how he played in his last game. He just needs to build back that mental stamina.

No word on Oryon's run? :( He did amazing by taking fellow french Raflow, Uncivil Ninja in a clutch game 5, Gackt with the Mario switch game 5, Skittles, and even taking a game off Kola with Dr. Mario !!! Him placing 13th (seed 76) and Sisqui placing 9th (seed 27) is definitely showing that EU is catching up with time !

Thanks for those nice words. To be honest all those years we were just represented by Gluto. Oryon and Sisqui were always that good, and we have other amazing players that would just have to travel like Mezcaul and Meru (best Peach EU), but yeah, finally Gluto managed to encourage Europe to travel more, cause it hurts if the talent is there but they won't go overseas to represent us

@@lyrics2challenged Day one Incin main here. I would say even or plus one Incinaroar you revenge grenades and Snakes like to shield too much. Plus most edgegaurding options blow up Cipher and high recovery leads to up air juggles. Nikitia edgegaurding is the one thing that keeps it on the fence of even or plus one in my opinion.

Great vid, i still don't know how you summed up that big of a tournament in such a good way ! I just wanted to notice that when talking about Mario's performances you didn't mention Oryon (13th place wolf main) that got crucial wins with his mario in top 64 matches. It was on the french stream mostly so i can't blame you for that. Got my subscribe !

The most interesting thing about Genesis 8 was def the resurgence of SoCal. That region took a hard hit in the transition from 4 to Ult, and is prob not even a Top 3 region in Ult(Tristate, New England, and Sunbelt are better imo). Also Pound is going to be hype. Hope to see Ken vs Leo, as Ken has a 2-0 record vs Leo in Ult.

0:35 Bruh no way anyone predicted Myran in top 8. I predicted Gluto at #3 since he lost to Spargo 0-3 in loser’s finals at Reta (although he did beat him 3-2 in winner's semis). I also had Tweek and Marss top 5, Kola, Light and Riddles round out my list.

Personally I found Aaron's run pretty surprising since he was struggling to get solid results at the start of the year (49th at LMBM and 65th at Glitch Infinite). Glad to see him doing well again because he showed lots of promise at Summit 3 and Lowtide.

Good thing they didn't stream Cosmos misinputs vs Ikan. I actually wanted to stop watching after seeing it on Nairo's stream. Someone was streaming and pointed their camera at the Cosmos vs Ikan set. Cosmos had the most soul crushing rapid sd's of all time. He lost game 4 by doing it, then did it twice in game 5. Mythra side b sd.

Not a single word about europeans other than Gluto, when France was litteraly the 2nd most representes region of the tourney, and such good placements like oryon or sisqui. Since it’s so rare for them to be able to travel for those tourneys, it would have been nice to at least talk about their runs. Great video overall still

8 ROBs in top 64 and Zomba clearly stands out as the best, so crazy to me. Making such huge waves even with a “easy” character to play is truly astounding. First time seeing a ROB that I think is just as fun to watch as when Zackray played ROB. After outplacing Dabuz twice in their last two majors, I think the new King of New York is here 🙌

Not taking anything away from Ikan, especially since I'm born and raised in Chicago and am glad we got some rep, but I saw some of the set vs Cosmos, and Cosmos Sd'd three times by Mythra side b'ing off ledge in the last 2 games. One was at 0% while in complete advantage, and the last one was at like 30% while in complete advantage. I know Cosmos has to be beat up about it. It was hard to watch (because it wasn't on stream and was being streamed from someone's camera who was there). Especially cause he was actually destroying him. Ikan actually had no chance if it wasn't for those.
