The SMD-80 machine is a continuous track laying, renewal and removal assembly line. When renewing the track, i.e. rails and sleepers, it is possible to exchange the rails or to re-install the old rails again.
While I admire the engineering in this machine, I feel sorry for the few remaining useless men around, silently wondering how they ended up in this situation while all their past brothers are now unemployed. Automation is double-edged.
@@michaelvandeborne9382 It replaced other machines. The hordes, you may think, worked in this industry more than 60-70 years ago. This SMD 80 was designed in the seventies, and wasn't the first or second generation of such railway maintenance hardware.
