Happy Thanksgiving!
I've heard great things about Smoked Traeger Turkey, but I needed to check it out for myself.
#traegerturkey #thanksgivingturkey #smokedturkey
This was just a small turkey, which was perfect for the 4 of us in the family. I injected it with some cajun injector roasted garlic and herb. Even though this turkey was prebrined, I wanted to add even more to it.
I then used the Traeger chicken seasoning to add some colour pop to the skin, again, even though it was preseasoned.
I set the Traeger up to cook at 225 with hickory pellets. I put the turkey on for an hour to smoke and then cranked the temp up to 350 to finish it and crisp up the skin.
The result was possibly the best turkey I've ever had. And the leftovers we made might have been the best part!

I've watched a lot of turkey videos like this on RU-vid. Your turkey is not the prettiest but 1000% the juiciest I've seen. Great job brother!

Dude, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much juice come out of a cooked turkey before. Looks incredible, I hope to have a Traeger very soon and I will try a turkey.

That bird does look super juicy and tender! Now all you're missing is gravy. :) Great cook Chris!

It looks great how long did it take to cook the turkey. And I’m considering to buy the same grill E you happy with it? I’ve never owned a pellet grill. Any regrets?
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 4 года назад
No regrets at all. I love it. Holds temp great and makes some great food. I think it took me close to 3 hours, maybe? I don't recall exactly.

I only have 2 questions.... what flavor pellets did you use ? And how long at 325 ?
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 3 года назад
It was Hickory pellets I believe. And at 325 until it reaches IT of 165 in the breast. Cook to temp, not time.

that's some juiiiiiiiiiiicy white meat!!!!! what temp did you finish at?
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 2 года назад
325 is what I generally finish a turkey or chicken at. Really gives a nice, crispy skin.

Roughly how long did it take from start to finish?

I want to say between 3 and 4 hours. I don't recall exactly.

Looks really good. Did you use hickory pellets?
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 3 года назад
That's pretty much all I use. I can't really tell a difference between pellet flavours.

I am guessing you pulled the Turkey off when the Breast hit 160? Or did you pull it at 155?
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 4 года назад
165 was when I pulled it. I don't usually pull it earlier. I want to make sure it gets to 165.

Looks good, Just wondering did you let the bird rest after you took it off?
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 4 года назад
Let it rest for about 10 or 15 minutes. I don't usually let birds rest for too long.
