On this episode I continue with the ongoing restoration of this 1979 Kenworth W900A truck to turn it into a tribute movie truck to the one used in the 1977 classic movie Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for??? “Cause he’s about as crazy as you are ugly”
Picking up where I left off last episode, I continue the final sanding and repair of minor issues in preparation for paint. When I finally had enough, I finished out the Hillbilly Paint Booth and setup the exhaust fans and filters. Then, after what seemed like countless hours and days, I finally get to the fun part to lay down some etching/fill primer. In the end it turned out pretty decent … not bad for a guy that has no idea what he’s doing…

Keep in mind, I know a little about a lot but not an expert in anything … just doing the best I can, learning as I go ... I do all my own stunts

Shooting that first primer coat and going from all these colors to one, smooth unicolor surface is just an amazing feeling! When I started yo paint, I watched alot of how-to-videos here on YT. And especially Paint Society and The Gunman. I think they are really good at showing, explaining and giving tips & tricks.

Gday twin sticks from Australia I’ve just finished and registered a full rebuild on my 1981 WHITE ROADBOSS which I did 95percent myself. It’s a lot of work and I feel your pain. There’s something special about finally getting what you’ve been working on back to one color. You stare at it all messy, dusty, and patched up for so long you forget what it’s suppose to look like. That primer gray is gorgeous!

I have been using the old "Spray down the floor before painting" trick for 30 yrs and never once had any issues from it... We have been doin that so any dust particles and paint over spray that may swirl around will hit the water & be stuck in it, Therefore no longer being airborne... Little tip from a pro painter... Do not stop pressing the trigger when using high build or single stage, AKA Thicker paints.... Just keep the trigger pressed and keep moving... Stopping at the end of each pass can create a clog or make a speck of splatter comeout the tip of the gun..... I am enjoying watching this series

Always a good feeling to see a project vehicle all one color, even when its primer.!!! Now you know why paint/body men get pissed when a prospective customer gets mad at a perceived high quote for a paint job !! It really sucks doing a customer vehicle thats in bad shape, its super hard to stay motivated when its not even your own vehicle.

My 2 bits for twinsticks when you're spraying loop your airline around your neck. It not only frees up your left hand but keeps hose from draggin against panel. Another 80s movie ....spray on sand off hahaha . She's lookin good. Im gonna have to come see her and you in Leduc. 😁👍

Hello from the UK I to have sprayed so trucks but that was back In the day of cellulose pants witch you'll never be allowed to use today and I've used some of the twin pack pants, but we have only cab overs on the road in Europe so not so meny nocks and cranys to get around as you conventional/ bonneted trucks as the one's you own, I got to say you have done a great job so far on your smoky and the bandit tribute truck from what I can see in your videos All your very hard work is coming together for you, and having a cold one now and then with lot's of sanding dust around you it don't hurt enjoy it.

Hi my name is Wyatt diede I’m a big fan of old trucks, country music and Smokey and the bandit, the truck is looking a lot awesome now. One time I was watching the movie and I found out that the roof cap inside the cab was actually tan color. A big fan of your videos including the iron duke and the peterbilte good luck with the videos. Toward the end of the video, I got so disappointed when you panned back and I saw that smudge in the center of the left side hood I couldn’t believe it…..I thought hopefully he’ll catch it before he starts painting…..then I cleaned my screen….Nice primer work!!!!!!

Well done always looks better all one colour. I think you should have taken doors of so you could have sprayed door shuts then sprayed doors separately by hanging them up.also take windows out and grill of because paint will peel of next to rubbers over time .this is not a critersition it’s how we do it and a tip 👍
