We decided to see if fishing for smooth hounds with Bass rods was possible, using pulley rigs loaded with 1/0 hooks and half a frozen crab for bait we managed to land a few on a clean sandy beach so we didn't put the fish in any danger, also Neil and I had a go with spinning and we fished into the night with the bass rods for a bass, there is a great sandeel catching tip here for live eel, enjoy the video and we will catch you next time.

Great video! I do like a rod that bends - unlike these stiff carbon poles these days. I still use my zipplexes mostly. They bend nicely with fish on!

Yes we hopefully will both be there, fishing the cod comp this weekend at Chesil will be quite windy lol

We had a club match there Sunday! Fished Abbotsbury towards Bexi! 4 codling caught around the 1 1/2 lbs mark! Loads of straps and whiting and pout about!

Great vid that!! Im a relative beginner to fishing I've been fishing for about 14 months now. I would love to catch a hound. What bait and rig did you use for the hounds? Great fishing well done guys.

Dave B hello glad you enjoyed the video, catching hounds is best done on a pulley rig with a single size 1/0 or 2/0 hook, use half of a big peeler crab or a whole small crab, you can fish with just hardbacks also but I find fresh is best but we mostly use frozen and this works really well also, I hope that helps.
