as much as i like persona as a whole. i kinda prefer SMT for its tone although persona 2 has an incredible story that is different from the others that came after
If you want a good time chillin , then persona always the best choice But if you are the hardcore pokemon player with some mental issues , SMT always the suggestion
I personally prefer persona but I 100% see the appeal of SMT and it'd probably be my favourite franchise if it was the first of the two franchises I'd played
Persona is cool in the traditional rpg sense interms of gameplay where you have your party members, relationships with them via social links, it's kinda like a mature Slice of Life Shonen anime, but the music in these games sucks, at least from Persona 3 up. SMT is more up alley, because of my own personal tastes and personality, the music hits hard, the sense that it's about being alone in a cold dark world, the deep questions and exploration on philosophy, religion and self discovery, seeing that everything is mundane, a large grey area where good and evil are not simple concepts that many perceives them to be, couple that with the view of how weak and fragile humanity, our own human self being and civilization is and how we are always pawns in a game of a bigger force and nothing is quite as it seems, SMT drives deep in the concepts of Lovecration/Cosmic horror. these are concepts that makes me enjoy SMT over Persona.
I think SMT has a better story and tone but persona has a better core gameplay. I have yet to finish a core SMT game because there is only so much pure fighting I can take
I think exactly the opposite. Everytime I play Persona I'm counting the hours until it lets me get back into the gameplay. SMT just lets me play the damn game.
@@IronyNinja For me, There is more to an RPG than just combat, There is also the world exploration, the de-escalation from tension, The character interactions, the visuals. Persona 1 was relatively similar to SMT in that there wasn't any 'social life', It was primarily a dungeon crawler. Persona 1 wasn't that successful, It was until Persona 3 that they found their 'formula'. A reason that a lot of people hate random encounter is because they want a brief respite from the combat before being thrown back in.
Played Personal 4 Golden, Persona 5, Royal and Strikers. I definitely enjoyed Persona 5 Royal more than Persona 4 Golden. I haven't played any of the SMT games due to the Series being non-beginner. friendly I'm a casual gamer and SMT isn't for me and that's okay.
Persona 4 and 5r literally have choice based endings. Both have a good and bad ending. 5r was less good or bad but really a morality choice that tested your way of thinking and how you handle the ups and downs of life
