*Sansevierias, snake plants or mother in laws tongue, however you call it, they can be wonderful house plants and I seem to be addicted to them! The struggle is real!* 😉
Thank you for your video. I have just purchased a Sansevieria Cylindrica that has been braided. Thank you for sharing several varieties. This is all new to me. So now I know I bought two varieties of Sansevieria.
Nice snake plant collection. No snake plant collection can be without the starfish one. Mines keep shooting up off springs and I keep taking the out to propagate. Now I’m leaving a few on to let it grow along with the mama plant to get a more fuller pot.
They are awesome plants!! The starfish plant is definitely my favorite. I finally found it on hirts.com and at a good price. Thanks so much for watching!
Hi. I too have a bunch (about 25 mother in law plants all total) here in Tucson Az. The column type are over 4 feet tall and no damage on the outer skin/tissue. Im jealous of you- always wanted to live in Chandler. Its a beautiful city.
Hello Carmen. Your Snake Plants are beautiful. I love them. I just bought 2 large Snake Plants and 4 small ones. I have to do a haul on them to. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed watching. Be blessed.
@@carmenwhitehead I live on little island in the indian ocean. no big box store or plant haul. you can buy only from individual. i will not lose hope. hahaha will find it one day
Thank You for the Information and sharing Your collection! I have one so far and I got it online and it arrived in “so so” condition but I am taking good care of it and it’s Pup is now almost as tall as the parent plant!
Thank you for this video and the information!!! I just purchased one of the Star Fish and I so love it. In time I want another Sansevieria plant as they are so neat looking and also easy to plant. Yesterday I finally planted 25 of the succulents and 1 cactus that I have been collecting. Once warm days and nights here in Colorado I will have them outside. I have a covered patio so I can adjust how much sun or bright light they will get. So looking forward to more of your videos on these very addicting plants!!.
Just watched your video for the first time, and only just started taking an interest in the snake plant. I’m in Australia, and I look forward to more of your videos. Thank you. 😉
I love the sansevieria laurentii. The way it twists and swirls is architectural and elegant. I couldn't get myself to spend $20 on a little sansevieria cylindrical, but I got: Sansevieria Moonshine Sansevieria Black coral Sansevieria fern wood Sansevieria starfish Sansevieria white Sansevieria whale fin Another sansevieria that is wider, but not as wide as the whale fin. I repotted my sansevieria starfish to go in my bathroom, where I have a beach theme... anyway, I guess it grows from the middle because the middle leaf grew so big it looks like it's giving me the finger. I love these plants. They're hard to kill and I don't have to think on how to care for them. I treat them all the same, except I'm beginning to get annoyed with the middle finger plant, but another leaf is growing large too, so soon it will be giving me the peace sign.
You're right about the starfish growing from the center, mine is doing the same thing! I'm after the moonshine and whale fin next. Thanks so much for visiting Gerald!
Carmen Whitehead :) The Whale fin is an expensive plant. Mine was $45 @ Koolau Farms, and I've never seen a specimen at Lowe's, Home Depot, or Wal*Mart. I think it's a good deal because in a little over one year, it grew so much that I divided it into six plants. I happened to be on the other side of the island, so I stopped at Koolau Farms and saw that they had more whale fin, but the prices were $65! I can start giving these away as gifts. These plants are tested by NASA to be good air purifiers. I bought a variegated whale fin from 'Esty' which will be delivered on October 30, 2018. First time I ordered a plant in the mail. I'll let you know how it went :) Esty was cheaper. With postage it was less than $30.
Carmen Whitehead :) OMG! Thank You! I'm always worried about Internet scams and identity theft, but my desire for a variegated whale tale made me reckless.
Wonderful video , liked all your Sansevierias . They are all so healthy and well kept . Like you I too love this plant . Have a wonderful day . Let's stay connected friend ....
The snake plants is one of my favorite. I’ve recently got one...zeylanica I think. 🤔 I hate when they don’t ID the plants. And I’m upset how I didn’t pickup the starfish snake plant when I saw it. Hope it’s still there when I go back to that nursery. It’s just too cute!!
GREAT video. :) You spotlighted one of my favourite plants. :) I love your collection and how varied it is. The Fernwood is one ive never seen in person before. I love it!
Becareful putting them in glass/clay pots. As they grow and those roots grow they will literally explode the pot and glass will be everywhere. Ask me how I know 😞
Its been raining in Jamaica for months now ...almost everyday... and the water doesn't affect the sanseveirias in my pots or in my garden...they are hardy to drought and rain.
I just purchased a beautiful Sanservieria Bird Nest plant in a 4” pot. I want to repot it...what type of soil should I use & would a 5-6” pot be ok to use? TIA...
Sansevierias love fast draining soil. So use succulent mix, I would add a bit of perlite to help with the drainage. A 6" pot is good, I wouldn't go bigger. Good luck!
I have four varieties of Sansevieria Snake Plants. I want a Whale Fin but haven't found one yet. Currently have two different birds nest varieties, and two of the more upright versions.
Does the snake plant sansevieria do well under a grow light I live in New Hampshire it get winter here What kind of grow light for this and does it have to be directly under it or away
Yes, I've had them under grow lights and they do well. Sansi lights are available on Amazon and are very good. I would put it about 2-3 feet above. Too close you can even burn them.
