Ross Hauser, MD and Danielle Matias, PA-C discuss snapping scapula syndrome and the underlying cause of joint instability and poor posture, as well as how we use motion diagnostics and physical exam to properly identify the areas that are causing the snapping, grinding, or popping felt in the scapula. It can really hold people back from doing what they love, so if you're suffering from this and haven't found other at-home methods are resolving the issue, perhaps Prolotherapy is the next option to consider. As always, we wish you all the best in health and healing!
The Hauser Neck Center & Caring Medical Florida are located in Fort Myers, Florida in the US. Thanks guys... I've had this chronic condition for 15 years and recently have truly been believing that this is my precise condition. I first noticed when I began lifting weights as a teenager that what is seemingly my right shoulder pops easily, anything which activates my rear right delt is no bueno as it inflames far too quickly. The pain doesn't exist during the exercise, generally, but rather afterwards, sometimes 3-5 days after. In general, what I feel is often more of a mixture between a dull, deep and weird pain combined with a tightness. As an adult, I've struggled to stubbornly lift heavy weights for 15 years and can only work out once per week if that. I've ebuilt a ton of muscle, but I can't keep doing it with these tissue issues. I work at a desk and typing inflames the wrist which also inflames the upper arm and armpit area. I've been to 2 physicians, 3 doctors, an orthopedic surgeon, 3 PT's, had an EMG done (negative) and currently see a Myofascial therapist monthly... Nothing really keeping me in the gym so far. I recently had trigger point injections for the first time, no noticeable changes. Would you recommend a GOOD PT focused on beefing up the muscles under the scapula and possibly dry needling?

@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 17 дней назад
Wow, so sorry to hear that you are going through this. Although PT is beneficial the first thing we would recommend would be to get an evaluation. We wouldn’t want to recommend something that could potentially make the situation worsen. However there are some individuals who after getting evaluated find that they just need to do some strengthening and only need PT or curve correction! I hope this helps answer your question and you can make an informed decision on your next steps.

Hi. Can you tell me the name of the shoulder/scapula brace you prescribe, or provide a link to it? I am currently being treated at CM for neck instability and curve correction, but I also experience shoulder and scapula pain, which my chiropractor wants to treat. I'd prefer to wear a brace though for awhile and then discuss with Dr. Hauser whether we should treat these areas with prolo as well. Thank you - Sherry

You guys looked at the X-ray of the person’s bad side where the scapula has no room on top of the ribs. I may have missed it, but how do you correct that? I strongly suspect I have that and doing the physical therapy has been extremely painful since it feels like there is something always rubbing against something.

I have had snapping scapula for 2 years. I have been to physical therapy, and seen a chiropractor. I have had XRays and MRI with no results. I would like this type of dynamic digital radiography, maybe it would help. Do you know anyone in nashville Tennessee that can treat this?

I have the same problem and no doc in Germany can help. There are so many causes for snapping scapula. Bone spurs of the upper angle of the scapula (you need CT Scan), the rib Joints pops out, abnormal sliding layer between scapula and rib muscles, cervical nerve problems, rib humps (scoliosis) or inflamed bursa I hear, in the USA is a specialist names Dr peter millett for this problem

Very interesting. I have been getting snapping in the left side but while using the right shoulder ie chopping vegetables. The snapping does not always happen while doing an activity, but after doing it.

I’ve had a snapping scapula issue for years long before symptoms that I presently have ( neck pain, light headedness, anxiety etc ) Is it possible this was the root cause all along ? It’s worse when I turn my head to the left and shrug my right shoulder, I get an obvious clunking.
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 6 месяцев назад
Hauser's Law states to follow the neurology - it could very well be the root cause! We would love to learn more about your case, please contact us directly to schedule and exam and consult!

Could another cause be a muscle tension in the trapezius muscle? Cause it appeared since that muscle tension.

Hey doc I’ve had snapping scapula for 2 years now which was caused by shoulder labrum surgery, is it proven that labrum surgery causes scapula problems because my doctor never said anything about the scapula before surgery and now I’m screwed

Sometimes chiropractic can make the symptoms or instability worse and it isn’t fixing the underlying issue - which is instability and degeneration.
