Man the solos for Skate U were so good. Justin Stanton coming in after Mike goes wild and gets all melodic and smooth with it. Even recovers nicely from a moment where his fingers fail him at 26:48.
Great video! I haven't listened to pre-2017 Snarky Puppy recordings in a long time...thank you for sharing. I forgot just how amazing "Skate U" is! The Band: Michael League (bass), Chris Bullock (tenor sax), Mike "Maz" Maher (trumpet & flugelhorn), Justin Stanton (keyboards & trumpet), Bill Laurance (keyboards), Bob Lanzetti (guitar), Mark Lettieri (guitar), Nate Werth (percussion), and Jason "JT" Thomas (drums)
QUESTION: I've seen M. League suddenly look to the ceiling many times before, but at 50:20 or so he does it and then B. Laurance does it too. I wonder: is that like a tactic when you start listening too much to a groovey solo (like Justin's) and start dropping your own part? hahaha I've never thought of this, but can see how it might help (and it would be a SUPER common issue playing in this band)

Irrespective whether you’re a rock, funk, blues whatever type of music you like, if you’re not impressed with the musicianship of this band, then there’s no hope for you.
Hey! You weren’t kidding about the silent audience, recital-like shows! This would suit me just fine. Except for the fact that I’d also need to be silent. Yeah, on second thought…
