Being in the luxury watch business means moving around because inventory gets around. Getting to travel in the name of Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe and all the countless others has its glamour but buying, trading and selling watches is still demanding work. Lucky for me though, not only do I love what I do but I also get to do business with some AWESOME people in the industry. In today's video, you'll follow me through Miami's 2019 IWJG Trade Show. This trip is unique for two reasons: it was the final trade show of 2019 but more importantly, I actually got to meet one of my RU-vid fans and clients, Steven P.! 💕
You'll see what it's like shopping for this type of market, how I negotiate, what things I look for in the watches I plan to buy, and the laughs that are shared along the way. He is just is one of the guys I can attest to a bunch of us collector buyers bumping into each other in NYC. Funny how often it happens too! Like watch people run the metropolis but just so we can holler out to each other on the street in site and suddenly 7 or more collectors are circling each other to see some new toy or treasure. Fun!

As always this is just my opinion, I've been watching you now for about 4 years 6 months and I'm telling you you're on the road videos when you're at trade shows are some of the best, I'm not discounting the other stuff that you do it's great it's fine, but as far as being the best in my opinion it's the on the road shows, keep up the good work man I love Miami kind of like my second home, take care.

Miami is a huge watch market for new and pre-owned watches and what a treat to see this Trade Show through your eyes, wheeling and dealing. It just so happens I was in Miami around the same time you were there and recognize you had dinner at Carpaccio. Love the video shots too of Miami Bal Harbour Shops, downtown, and Sunny Isles. @@jajayaboy Miami is a very safe city. It wasn't during the 1980s... but crime has gone down significantly since then. In the past 10 years... there's so much money there that the poor can't afford to live in even the poorest neighborhoods anymore.

The trade shows are the best! It's good to see the face behind the comments here. I always read Steven P comments. Beautiful family with amazing taste for watches. I didn't know buyers had to pay to go to these shows. With more and more people interested in the world of watches, with Instagram serving as a powerful tool in this market (like dictating what will be the next hot pieces), no entry fees would attract more buyers and admirers of horology, that will talk about these trade shows, that will make this things became viral on social media.

Hey Roman, Love your videos mate, I’ve only started to tune in about a week ago and I’m glued to your channel. I have a question for your Q and A. What’s your thoughts on getting a watch polished and if you are for it, would it damage the look for a watch for example if it was a bi metal watch like the Rolex 126331 where the steel on the watch has a different polishing finish than the gold on the watch. When did u start going to shows I’m wondering if we met before at the shows. I quit going in 2000-01 after kids retail store . Just turned 50 in Dallas loved Miami show for the weather BigBang they couldn’t give those away back in the day they sure tried until they went Boutique only brand I believe. I loved talking with Burly he was quite the hoot and wealth of knowledge.

Random questions: Will the show organizer get angry when you overlay a Family Feud graphic indicating how little of the changes suggested would be implemented? Are there any dealers you dislike and won't deal with it all regardless of the inventory they have? Or are you a dispassionate businessman who doesn't let personal relations get in the way of any good deal from any party? Thanks, Great content as usual.
