King K. Rool has stolen Donkey Kong's banana stash, and Donkey Kong needs your help to get them back. In search of K. Rool, the Kremling horde impedes your progress. Kremlings, crocodile-like creatures, include Kritters (they succumb to a simple jump on the head), Krushas (they are virtually indestructible), and others. There are also other enemies that block your path, such as beavers, snakes, vultures. Leading them are dastardly bosses, including Very Gnawty, Necky, Bumble B, and Dumb Drum, and they all bar the way with their own special blend of villainy.

Thirty years later, Donkey Kong Country still (mostly) holds up. My only minor complaints are that the bosses are too easy and that some of the "KONG" letters can only be collected by jumping into a pit or completing a mini-game.

Technically, it IS possible to grab "KONG" letters that are floating near pits by doing a "Roll-Jump," but that's also really hard to pull off because it has to be precise.

*Mines is that too. And the animal token things. As I grew up playing it, I started to becone more annoyed by it and praying the one I just got wasn't the 3rd one! & This game is ridiculously hard to 100% imo because they didn't do a good job telling the players where certain things are. 2 & 3 did a better job at that..... That's why although DKC is a classic, it's my third favorite of the trilogy & one I play the least*

DKC didn’t age well or it doesn’t hold up it is 32 Mbits (megabits) = 4 MB (megabytes)

*I love this game with ALL of my heart but man I HATE those animal buddy tokens you have to collect!! Every time I play this game, I pray the one I collected wasn't the 3rd!! Lol I groaned everytime you collected the third & had to go that mini game.... Glad DKC2 & 3 didn't have that. One of the many reasons why I perfer those 2 over this one....*

What a game! Even after completing it I spent hours/days trying to get 100%! I was 11 when it came out. Soundtrack/sound effects brilliant, bosses fun. Cart missions were my favourite. Thanks for uploading this!! I've still got it on the SNES as well :)

The pre-rendered 3D graphics are impressive for the console even if they clearly show they're from the 90's but it was the SNES' swan song (with Yoshi's island) before the 64 would replace it.

I remember first playing this with my brothers. We were amazed by the backgrounds, music, 3-D graphics, story, gameplay, challenging but engaging levels, awesome but scary enemies. Such good times! 😁😁

Gosh this is one of my favorite game in the snes plus is was so cool that Smash bros Ultimate recreated the kongo Jungle map in world of light adventure mode which gave me nostalgic and also...... Donkey Kong: "Are they digging holes in my mountain?!"
