This is so so so nostalgic. Brought back memories I thought I never had. The sounds, the map, the enemies😭 ugh I don’t think I ever actually beat it as a kid
Way too hard for a Mickey Mouse game. I cried real tears as a 6 year old kid, unintentionally killing Mickey over and over, powerless to stop his death, his tortured face looking right at me, as if to say “how could you let this happen to me”.
Bruce Howard, agreed; me and my siblings played this a lot when we were kids; my favorite bosses to battle were the giant spider and the fire monster, in addition, I loved having Mickey wear the fire gear, shooting water was more effective against enemies...
I remember when this game was first released, it was considered one of the most graphically intensive games. Great game! My brother and I beat it during a weekend rental!
@@nicojar but what about today? Between FF, Star Fox, Super Mario, and Chrono Trigger and F Zero, how many people still put this game on lists with these? It should be there but it isn't usually
I have this game on my phone. The only downside to this game is it was way to easy and the damn game only had like 5-6 levels for the entire game. Still fun to play tho
+Antonio Navarrete ASIDE from the god awful mickey mouse sprite which had zero animation(no blinking), looked odd and had those dead beady little shark eyes. :P thankfully, Capcom corrected this in the follow up sequel Circus Mystery. Still, castle of illusion had the best mickey sprite and animation, no contest! Not to mention it was a little more creative, imaginative and had a better soundtrack that felt more Disney than either of the snes games
I remember my parents renting this for me once when I was sick, and I thought it was going to be a little baby's game where I had to spell words and whatnot, boy was I wrong. This is one of the gems of the SNES and I'd still play it today.
My brother and I grew up playing this game and we absolutely loved it. Growing up, NOBODY played this game. It’s such an amazing game that I’ll never forget 😭
@@jeanjean59ful I don't know if it is logical or not to make a comparison of something like Mickey Mouse with something like Metroid It would be more understandable to compare the game with something like ... I don't know ... Super Mario World?
After Pete rescues Pluto from the haunted woods, Mickey decides he wants the pet he abandoned back. With the magical kingdom lacking a proper court or justice system, Mickey decides to take the law into his own hands and waterboards Pete in his own home until he gives the animal back to his abuser.
Ah, so many good memories, I used to play this game again and again, was one of my favourites, and since I hated passwords I used to finish it in one sit. My memory may fail but I think you can get an extra life if you go through the beaver's dam underwater.
Nostalgia. Still own the cartridge. My favorite Mickey Mouse game ever, long before Kingdom Hearts changed everything. The bird boss is my favorite part. Man, this game had Pete like no other Disney media EVER DID THEN OR SINCE.
This old Mickey Mouse games were awesome platform games. The SNES, Mega drive games were great games. Sadly it seemed that when games entered the 3D era it was the end of great mickey mouse games :(
Despite this video having 1M views, I think this game is very underrated, when people talk about 16 bit Dinsey games most talk about the ones made by Sega, Virgin Interactive and Traveler's Tale, + Capcom Aladin mostly to say it's inferior to Virgin's one, and I think this game is just as memorable and well made as those other titles.
Jogo inesquecivel!
One of my favorite games on the SNES. Still very fun to play, and still looks surprisingly good (Back in 92 it looked absolutely gorgeous). But man..beating the game in under an hour..and people complain about short games nowadays.
Really quite disappointed by the lack of secret finding. There were outfit upgrades, health increases, etc. Felt more like a speedrun than a longplay... but I suppose they still beat it and never died, so that's admirable.
We played the Super Famicom version, hired from a local independent games retailer. In the early days of the SNES, Mickey's Magical Quest was one of the first third party games I had seen in action. The owners of the store were fans of it, too. One of them described this game as, "Sh** hot."
No. Chemical castration made me a mouse. This game taught me to dress up like various characters and use tools relative to that costume to defeat improbable enemies.
From the golden age of video games SNES was; my sister's godfather gave this game to her (of course, we all got to play it, me and my other sister that is); for the most part, I had Mickey in the firefighter's outfit too, I don't know why but I think I liked the shooting water; I found both the magician and the climbing outfits useless; I remember having difficulty with the first two bosses (the winged monster with the yellow overalls and the snake), although, I don't remember which one I had the most trouble with...

@Mysterious Meon It's not Capcom's call, it's Disney's, Capcom can't just decide out of nowhere to remake an old game featuring characters they don't own the rights to. Capcom didn't do the Ducktales remake either, WayForward did, and they would probably be the best choice for a Magical Quest remake.
I just bought a used copy of this for the Super Famicom. It's one of those classic games where you don't need to know another language to play it. Capcom made some killer games in the SNES era.
I remember owning the GBA rerelease of this gem as a kid. I know that makes me a lil younger than most of these commenters, but it goes to show how those kinds of rereleases could make a game cross the generational gap. I just think that’s really wonderful
This made me realize that the first 3 levels are somewhat connected. You start on the top of the trees, in the clouds. Then you get to the forest, where trees have faces. Then you get to the bottom, where the trees take root in LAVA, as you can see in the background.
The only reasonable aspect of this game is that there are only six worlds and it’s infinite continues. They even start you out wherever you last died after continuing. Castle of Illusion is better imho...especially the master system one.
@@Gri-m Same here. This game had great replay value, too. Lost count of how many times this game came home with me from the video store. Never got tired of it.
You still get yoshi games, mario kart games, starfox games, street fighter games, zelda as it is now would be nothing without "a link to the past", donkey kong games... => SNES gave nintendo the edge it needed to take over SEGA. Now SEGA are their bottom bitch and you find Sonic on nintendo consoles :D
OH MY GOD, HOW I GREW UP! HOW MUCH TIME HAS PASSED! I WAS ABOUT 5 YEARS OLD WHEN I WATCHED THE PLAYTHROUGH OF THIS GAME. I ALWAYS DREAMED OF PLAYING IT MYSELF, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT DEVICE! AFTER 9 YEARS, I SEARCHED SO HARD AND FOR SO LONG FOR THIS PASSAGE, BUT I COULDN'T! BUT TODAY I FOUND IT. THANK YOU, GOD, FOR FEELING THIS STRONG, HUGE, DAMN, NOSTALGIA.
Being a mega drive/genesis owner and loving the mickey series of games by capcom as a kid.I remember seeing this at my friends house who owned a snes and just being amazed at how different the gameplay was in comparison to castle of illusion/world of illusion.I think i may have to invest in a Snes for this ;)
For the record, the freaking giant sabertooth fish that could leap out of the water and swallow you in a heartbeat gave me FREAKING nightmares as a kid.
One of the best games I ever played. I still have this game and I treasure it. It was a bit difficult but not too bad. I first beat it when I was barely 12 years old :)
I am also 32 and yeah I I didn't know either. I remember getting all the way to Pete's castle and never beating the game and having to restart every single time
The artists at capcom and other studios really captured the Disney aesthetic in these snes era games. They are beautiful. Another feather in shinji mikami’s cap.
Played this when I was a wee lad at my nana's and never got past the first level. Just beat it tonight almost 25 years later. Pete was a headache but magic seemed to wear him down a lot faster than the firehose.
I wasn’t a huge gamer kid and I play once a year if that now, but I *loved* this when I was young (I had the Gameboy version, SNES predated me a little). I was starting to convince myself I dreamed it, levels were locked tightly in the recesses of my brain.
That bird boss used to give me trouble until I realized there's a way easier way. Stay with the climbing outfit and just grab his egg and throw it back at him. No having to quickly change back and forth.
I remember being 3 years old and playing this game, I was a pretty smart tot, I beat the whole game in less than a month, I'm 20 years old now and I still have the system, controllers and the games, I haven't picked it up in forever
crazy... im 36 years now... this gives me flashbacks... i even can feel the living room of my parents house around me! almost can smell my moms pancakes shes making ... just one game can beat this... Contra 3... (in Germany Super Propotector)
Ok. This has been plaguing me for decades. The soldier that shows up at 05:40, what weapon is he using? I've seen this same stick in a few games now but can't ID it.
This game was incredibly good. I never completed as a kid. I did rent it with my dad two times. RENT! Who rents video games anymore?? :D Well we did. I got to the final level but I didn't find Pete the Final Boss. I completed the game with an emulator years ago. Good memories. Perhaps I'll purchase this one to my little sister from eBay. She still plays our old SNES. I'm glad someone likes good games... ;)
