Met chi at the cambie hotel. He gave me and my girlfriend two tabs. I went to the jukebox and played this song and sat back on his table. He was writing in his diary with his cockatoo quill. Such a gentleman. RIP Mr. CHI PIG. from Australia..
Mos def. RIP...😥...but his legacy lives on through his words and music which r both top tier, so he can never b forgotten. Great band and a great lyricist to boot. 🤘
i have seen SNFU more than 35 times , and i can assure you that they don't suck live , i have and still am listening to these guys for 25 years , and never had a dull moment at one of their shows
Lyric: young boy had fallen in love With his homeroom teacher He has fallen in love It happens everyday In schools throughout the city Throughout the city She was married, he did learn And inside he did burn Deep inside he did burned He vowed that never again Would he open his heart Open up his hear And to serve as a reminder He painted her a picture This painful reminder And he keeps it in his binder This painful reminder The next day in his art class He drew a picture of her With an axe in her head A picture's worth a thousand words Even those left unsaid Those best left unsaid Now he walks the halls alone But it is for the better Alone...alone...alone He vowed that never again Would he open his heart Oh no! never again! And to serve as a reminder...
I will miss Kenny more than I can put in to words. He graciously offered my new at the time band the opening slot for the SNFU 30TH anniversary. He didn't even listen to the demo I gave him. That night the only thing that mattered to me was not letting him down. So before we hit the stage I ask for his advice and he said "don't fuck it up" he was always honest and after our set I tore through the crowd straight to him and asked him "so how'd we do?" To which he responded "you did not disappoint" then look at the promoter who hated the idea of an unknown band on the bill and said "see I fuckin told you" even though he had no idea what we sounded like..RIP my brother Chi from bad💀PR
Similar story. The band i was playing in as a teenager had a show booked at a venue in Melbourne Australia with some other local bands. SNFU decided to play on that night. Instead of cancelling us all and getting some bigger bands to support them, they said keep the same lineup and we'll just play at the end. Best gig we ever had. Still remember the excitement of playing with them. And how fucking good they were. Especially in such a small venue. RIP Mr PIG.
@doomzday 16th July man, he had been sick for a while, he was told late last year that he had a month to live. I don't have any more details than that.
the most interesting and artistically articulate people are the most troubled, after all this is where all their talent and creativity is drawn from, from their minds that are different to everyone elses common minds. RIP Mr .Chi Pig, much respect fro your person your band and the music you created together
This bands music was the sound track of my youth. Thank-you Chi and the band if you are reading it. Never saw you live because... crowds... but thanks.
xzanthius I don't like crowds either but there so good live I saw em with DOA in 06 in Vancouver , you should just throw your social anxiety in your pocket and check em out live
just go to a show and I'm willing to bet it'll be so therapeutic you'll never look back, I remember so many times how purged of negativity and anxiety I felt on my way home from seeing SNFU
Just remember, crowds like this aren't looking at you or judging you. Only you are. Get in the mosh pit. Let it all out. If you fall, they'll pick you up. being around the right people is good.
I was lucky to have seen SNFU just once and it was a great show at that. I never lived in an area where they toured so their PRB 2014 appearance will always be a highlight for me.
Chi... I miss running into you every time I was getting my Chinese herbs and South Asian groceries in the Chinatown/Downtown Eastside area. You were a very kind-hearted, warm, and genuine person. Thank you for being you, Chi!
Fuck!!! Vocal Purity, raw, authentic and painful emotion shared through music. Rest easy Ken...you changed our world for the better...go be at peace ✌️
Better than a Stick in the Eye was my personal go to album. Put it on and just let the beauty shine. May you be enjoying spending quality time with your parents.
I've already commented, but the more I hear this song the better it gets....R.I.P. Ken.....You fucking rocked...A Painful Reminder to us all that we are all mortal...
Of course. The intention is to demonstrate how much this guy was unique, broken and perfect. It’s not sad for me to know how his life was a struggle, but inspiring to see how genuine he was, passionate. He suffered immensely, looked like shit, but was always truthful and gave its best shot every time. Lots to learn from that in my opinion.
If there's one regret I have in life, it's not going to see SNFU when they came around. I took it for granted that I'd see them any other time, and then it was over before you knew it. What a band.
We never let him down. Ever. He did everything on his own terms . And I fucking miss him, alot. I'll tell you a few stories if you think his friends let him down.. he had some of the best people I knowin his corner
I was in my junior year in HS in the early 90s last time I heard this...heard again 20yrs+ later on Spotify. I broke down....so Fing good...so 👍 good, I need more good old music like this again in my shitty life now as a useless idiot mid age man. Chi, we miss so so much.
was like 8 9 or 10 years old and forgot wich video game this song is on Playstation 1 it was either a NCAA Football Skateboard, ATV, Motocross, Snowboard or BMX game i constantly played back in the day . I'm thinking it was a Snowboarding game and that's when i discovered them now I'm curious to know that was so long ago. I loved those games discovering Less Than Jake, Gass Huffer, H20, Circle Jerk's, SNFU, Pulley, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Mellen Collin, Penny Wise , MXPX, NOFX .
Edmonton concert when they opened for BadReligion 1996ish...best ever. Came up from Calgary. Motel near the convention center absolutely trashed by punks...great memories !
