Sniper Elite 4 (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is a third person sniping game in a league of its own. Is it worth the trip to WW2 Italy? Jake breaks it down. Subscribe for more: / gameranxtv
People keep calling this a "budget" game, or even a "low-budget" game and I can't help but wonder what would these guys do if they had more funding. This game literally has tons more content than Destiny(one of the most expensive games in history) and it also looks pretty great and fun to play. A lot of triple A titles with massive budgets turn out to be shit.
Rick Sanchez games out like far cry 5 Is what people mean by low budget. That game is amazing. This game is low budget. It's just a fact. It is just as much money as fc4 and 5. But no were near as good. You can just tell
@@thanosbustedinyourmum far cry 5 was my last ever far cry, what a shit game honest at the start I was loving it but the more I played the more I felt distant with that gsme, there's something about that game that I just quite put my finger on it but it's just not as good as far cry 4, anyone wanting to play far cry 5 my advice is save your money and get a game worth playing over and over again
+Tyrone The terrible If you say it is not as good as far cry 4, then i'm definitely will pass. Since my fav even though people like FC2 but I would go with FC3 over 1,2 and 4.
Tyrone The Terrible yea I love the 3rd and 4th far cry, the 2nd one looks super fun too but won’t ever get a chance to play it. But 5 was just weird man. Same as you, I was loving it at first, playing with my friends, fishing, doing all the fun shit. But it got boring pretty quick, I only played thru once, then restarted but can’t even bring myself to play thru the first 2 or 3 missions once you get off that island. Don’t even get me started on the stupid “bliss” and those dudes that would roll on you and you couldn’t do anything, then you gotta run thru Jacobs house maze or whatever the fuck that was. Shit was so annoying..I played far cry 4 thru like 3 times and am 3/4 of the way thru on my 4th time lol. I love that game! But now RDR2 is all I’ve been playing now since it dropped. I’m done with the far cry series. The darkest hour dlc was pretty fun I really liked that, but other 2 were shit. Also I don’t support greedy game companies, and finding out that they are charging real money for more stash space on the Division 2 was the last straw. I won’t even buy another Ubisoft game if they go ahead with that. Even series I like like Assassins Creed or Far Cry. Can’t say I won’t buy wildlands if they make a 2nd one, cause I really like that game too.
It's not a "budget game" it's a decent sized game done well. The industry is becoming so inflated and getting closer to collapse because of heavily inflated marketing and unfinished AAA games bombing. This games budget area is where the decent games tend to get made.
Searching for about 30 minutes for the other player in the hardcore multiplayer sniper mode to destroy his testcales on a very long distance is a top pleasure. This multiplayer is very unique.I like it.
And check the kill that comes just afterwards too! Sniper bullet enters the guys head, then an empty bullet "casing" comes out of the exit wound! What IS this magic!?
+Recounter If you're really saying this, you should pause exactly at 1 second earlier : 3:59. The bullet doesn't travel fast enough to reach the end of the barrel as the recoil animation play. This makes the bullet "pass" through the end of the rifle cannon's side (and in this case also the silencer's) You see the "sparkle" going out of the rifle even before the said bullet reach the end of the rifle's cannon, which normally, follows the bullet shot. This is a mistake they allowed and implemented as they cut the "shot" action sequence to allow the player act faster after the shot.
I recently picked up this game and have probably already put just as much if not more time into it as MGS 5. As a long time fan of the MGS series I found this game to actually be better in my honest opinion. It does bullet physics better and while the plot is simpler. I find the "low budget" to be refreshing because core game play of the game isn't muddied by extra unnecessary content. Again to compare it to MGS 5 for instance. MGS 5 motherbase was neat....but I find it distracting from the real core game play mechanics of stealth/action/espionage. When games focus too much on being everything any gamer needs they tend to water down what made them big to begin with. It's like when a good band gets big and then sort of generalizes their sound to "appeal to a broader audience". Also, while I find Kojima's zany plots intriguing they also tended to leave something to be desired with weird esoteric open endings that left you scratching your head much of the time; which is only even more true with MGS 5's ending. Is Sniper Elite going to be the game every gamer wants to pick up? Probably not, but what it does, it does so well; that anyone interested in the stealth/action/espionage genre would be foolish not to check it out. Some people find the kill cam to be a little too graphic supposedly as it conveys pain in such a way as to possibly elicit empathic reactions, but I can't help but find only joy as I slaughter Nazi's. Also, despite the open ended nature of the map layouts there are lots of good paths you can take; it feels natural, open ended, and sort of linear all at the same time. I actually pirated this game initially to check it out, but I liked it so much I bought it.
lkjyuiop Then you’re an asshole. If you NEVER pay for games you cannot bitch about shitty games. What? Did you want a pat on the back for being a thief? Want us to tell you you’re cool? Why even include that if that’s not what you wanted?
I've been having fun with the stealth in the game. I've been playing Sniper Elite since the PS2 original. I had my doubts at first since it looked similar to 3 but the sandbox design is awesome for a game like this! I definitely recommend it to those who are patient or who like stealth games. I would also say to play first on Sniper Elite difficulty since it gives a good bit of challenge.
SE games are good, but they need to move on from the world war 2 games. Now this would be amazing in somewhere like Afghanistan with a Barrett 50 cal. Or just something upto date in general.
Excellent review. Been playing this on and off for 2 years now and still enjoy it when I come back to it. The Authentic modes are a real challenge and online Survival with 3 other players is addictive and fun.
I have 2 and 3, but I haven't finished 2 yet. Even so, it is a lot of fun and I will definitely be getting 4. These games really shine when you have wide open spaces so you can go wild and snipe from anywhere.
I had never played SE 1-3, but I am loving SE4. I’ve only finished the first map, but so far it seems pretty accurate with bullet drop, wind effects, and enemy triangulation. Just the right mix of stealth, melee, and achievements.
New to the series, quite interested, I was expecting something interesting relating towards progression because as a former rpg player I love games with simple or even intense levels of progression and development, it provides a sense of side goals in mind either essential or useful in various situations giving off a sense of accomplishment and relief
Nice video, thank. I personally really loved Sniper Elite 4. I've played SE 2 and 3 as well, and loved them both, but there is something about SE 4 which makes you want to play it again and again. What I consider a great change in SE 4 is the weapons system: for each weapon you can unlock three upgrades by accomplishing specific tasks, and once all thre upgrades are unlocked you can earn Mastery of the weapon by accomplishing another task which unlocks the gold skin for that weapon. I've accomplished the gold skin for every weapon, and while doing this I realized that these challenges were well designed and forced you to learn the pros and cons of each weapon. Unlocking the gold skin for each weapon took me ages, and it was a fun way to replay the whole game with specific tasks in mind - and of course, some levels are better than others for unlocking certain weapon upgrades. For example, some weapons upgrades require you to accomplish 15 or 10 penetration kills. I didn't even know what a penetration kill was, so it forced me to take the habit of reading the feedback you get on screen after each kill (which resumes the type of kill that just occured). I thus learned that penetration kill is a kill where the bullet has gone through some material before hitting the target, and I learned that wood and thin metal surfaces can be penetrated and hit an enemy hiding behind them. These challenges force you to learn SE 4 mechanics in depth, and make you appreaciate the game a lot more - and even made me want to play again SE 2 and 3 to apply my new knowledge of the game. The weapon upgrade challenges also often require you to kill by aiming at specific organs - ie: kidneys, liver, eye, testicles, etc. By carrying out these challenges you learn how these organs can be hit from different angles, and forces you to fine-tune your sniping skills. And of course, Sniper Elite 4, like its predecessors, can be played in 3D steroscopic if you have a 3D TV - which I have and makes the game experience so much better: aiming in 3D is a bit more difficoult, but also more realistic, and the kill-cam is amazing in 3D. I really enjoyed this game, and played it a lot. If you love the genre, and if you enjoyed previous Sniper Elite games, I would advice you to go for it.
I play sniper elite since the first one came out, which was so interesting and fun for me because of the nice little stealth and killcam action. 1 and 2 are pretty similar and love them both, 3 was a little different, it introduced a more realistic shooting and more face to face action. I wasn't much of a fan of the new shooting, but when you get the hang of it, you feel like a pro when you get some extreme shots aiming with the wind and distance in your head( without the helper of course). Haven't played 4 yet but seems similar to 3 which i liked in the end. I will wait for some sale though, 60$ seems to high for a game like this.
Great review. Ive never dipped my toes into the Sniper Elite series. With the forthcoming Sniper Elite 5, I’m going to have to check this out first. Thank you.
I've been playing since V2. And the fun as hell. SE3 really wasn't my thing... more for personal reasons. I'm a Desert Storm vet and I'm fucking tired of desert based games. But SE3 was still fun. So when I saw the setting for SE4 I was sold. I bought the gold edition on psn on a sale for 15.99. Best purchase I have ever made. Buckets of fun. In all versions I have to say they are spending their budget in the right place. Not on elaborate cutscenes, but on the actual game experience. I appreciate that and will not hesitate to pull the trigger on SE5. Going to try Zombie Army 4 out next. It may seem like a reskin, but I care. Lol Rebellion is one of my favorite devs now.
Talks about how hard mode is best way to play. Yet all footage is with bullet path on. Half the fun of these games come from having that off and knowing where to aim. It is a lot more satisfying when you make that long range headshot without being told where to aim.
I agree, I thought the same thing. Like he read other reviews online about how upping the difficulty makes it a different game but blazed through it on easy.
Could you make a before you buy for E.T. for Atari 2600? The previews are praising it as the best game ever made but I want to hear your opinion before I buy it.
never heard of this game but i enjoy playing stealth games in co op with my friend and i believe we are gonna hit those series soon if not today. Thank you for making this.
I've never played any of the Sniper series and saw 3 and 4 on sale for $15 each. I'm glad I bought them. While I haven't started 4 yet, 3 is ridiculously fun.
Gonna wait for a sale, I normally like to get the complete game, I have play all the sniper game up until now. I really do like them and have returned to them after finishing them, to play the harder levels. Excellent games.
So basically it's the same as Sniper Elite 3 with different maps. Game is fun, makes each person who plays it think at some point before doing anything.
I love the whole series, 4 is definitely my favourite. I’m about to play coop for the first time with my friend whose never played any of them. This will be awesome! Great video btw!👌👌👌👌
Oh how much the series has grown. It turned from a very linear game, to a very non-linear game with a lot of freedom. I think Sniper Elite 4 is the series's prime.
I like the new stealth mechanic. I don't know how many times I would get spotted in the previous games because I misjudged the squinty eye in my HUD. My one critique is that the missions might be a little too long. When I got the game I thought hey I'll give it a quick play and just do the first mission, I didn't finish until almost 2 hours later. If you or a co-op partner have limited free time you'll be forced to set aside a significant chunk to play a single mission in this game.
This game seems like a copy and paste of SE3. Nothing has really changed and it feels like this franchise is going the way of COD; the devs seem content in making an uninspired, generic game.
You were right, I loved MGS5 and loved Sniper Elite 4. I was very methodical and could be 4 hours on a level checking out people's routines so I could get somewhere with no surprises or let a shot off with no one hearing it. When I completed it I was sad it was done but I bought Sniper Elite 3 thinking it'd be the same but with worse graphics. I was wrong. It's exactly the same but the levels were smaller so I completed that one too. Looking forward to Sniper Elite 5 as I doubt we'll see an MGS6.
Love it!!! Only play it on authentic mode. Getting killed after an hour of play and getting sent back to the beginning of the level makes me a better player. And I love it 😂👽😨
I just got the game on ps plus, lol I love it actually really fun and I enjoy just waiting for the right time to shoot and then no one knows where that shot came from. That’s awesome and I’m thinking of buying 5
Been playing this series since the very beginning and I've never played it on anything but the 2 hardest settings and i absolutely love all of them but the first one was definitely the hardest for me. I would have to put it down for weeks because i was stuck getting beyond a point. Great game like splinter cell. Both my to 2 series.
To be honest considering there's not much effort put into the story I'm surprised that the developers have stuck with the world war 2 setting for 4 games now what with the limited sniping arsenal that was present during the era. I know that there is the sniper ghost warrior series but in all honesty those games so far have felt even rougher and lower budget than this series.
started playing Sniper Elite 3 and I beat that game and loved it so I went out and bought 4 but still hardcore metal gear solid player thanks for the Insight bro
I haven't played video games since the Syphon Filter genre. My nephew's 8 year old son brought it and begged me to watch him play. It wasn't long before I told him hand me the controller. I'm hooked, bought it. I only play games on the hardest mode, and this game kicks my ass. I get close to finishing off the level, but I get killed and start all over. I still love it.
GOD I love this game. Endlessly replayable, online multiplayer is terrifying because I'm a scrub, and it just makes you feel so badass. It's a pretty game with great attention to detail. The little stories written for each and every soldier on the maps are an awesome touch. The letters that you find on corpses that make you feel kinda bad are great too, and then you remember that it's a game, and they're Nazis. I just love it so much.
I think the AI in this game is really good on Hard setting and good AI on the survival/horde levels. I have been coming back to this game over the years and it still holds up today playing at 60fps on the latest console. It still looks fantastic too. I am a stealth game fan and for me this is one of the best games of the last few years.
I was disappointed with sniper elite 3 tbh. I've completed it twice in 13 hours. The campaign was stupidly short and there's pretty much no replay value as it kind of has scripted levels
assassingamer25 SE4 had a lot more replay ability stemming from the massive level size and the numerous side objectives. Also with the AI always active on every part of the map at all times keeps you wondering where'd they be. If you liked SE2 or 3, you'll love 4
True, sniper elite 2 was my favourite however with SE3 i found myself playing a lot of multiplayer and going for all the achievements. I think SE4 will have a lot more replay ability because of it's vast open world and the multiplayer looks a tonne better than SE3
I played 3 so when I heard that 4 was coming out I pre-ordered it on my Xbox and I stayed up till 11 the night it came out so I could play it and I absolutely love the game, the missions take alot of planning but that's what makes it so fun
