Hi Barton id like to ask as i saw when u grip the cue u seems like middle 2 finger grip ur index finger doesnt grip or when u shooting u leave loose .. Its a detail but ıd like to know all details of this coz i hold with pressure sometimes .. Could u explain me this if u dont mind .. Best regards ..
@BartonSnooker
@BartonSnooker 3 года назад
That's right! I use my middle two fingers for my grip mostly, then when I deliver the cue, I try to not increase the tension on the grip hand. Whatever the pressure on my grip before I start (about 4/10), I try to finish the shot with that same amount of pressure. That's one of the most important parts of how the grip works.

Hi Steve. As we all know, you are clearly very good, so please could you share any thoughts about why you are not a pro on the Tour? Do you not fancy the lifestyle? Or are the top 200 players simply way too good?! In other words, how good do you have to be to turn pro? I'd love some insight on this question. Cheers Mate, and Happy New Year.

They are lot better at every aspects of snooker, potting, safety shots, cue controlling. There are around 128 Pro players each year, and another 200 players are competing against each other to fight for about 20 places in Pro through Q school events, and continental events.

Hello! Thanks a lot. Really appreciate you watching! I use phones believe it or not. My old Samsung Galaxy S8, and then I also have my new Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. The S20 Ultra has amazing cameras so fantastic for filming. I use 'Adobe Premiere Pro' for video editing and that takes a lot of time. But I like my videos to be as helpful as possible, so I spend a lot of time getting the videos looking good.

''Watch the ball into the pocket and get your feedback'...nice...maybe I can get my stupid subconscious to chew on that a while and stay down consistantly. OK, I'm impressed, hell of a gorgeous break there, and those two very long shots and the one off the cushion were beautiful. You are so right that you HAVE to believe you are going to make it when you get down on the shot...I'm of the opinion that at least halves the chances of your not making it. Do all coaches at your level play that well? And do you ever compete professionally? I was surprised how few times you got out of position there, VERY nice cue ball control. How many attempts did it take to get a full clearance? Sorry if my terminology is wrong for snooker.
@BartonSnooker
@BartonSnooker 3 года назад
Hi John, Thanks a lot for watching. Great that the things I mentioned have hit home there, that's exactly what I try to do in these videos. Not all qualified coaches at my level will play to this standard. It's something that I really pride myself on: the fact that my advice is based on real life improvement and knowledge of the game. I teach people, and I also play to a very high level myself. I've never played professionally. I took the game up late (aged 27.. now 37). So it never seemed like the right path for me. Plus I really enjoy the teaching side of things and helping people achieve their goals and get more enjoyment from the game. I did play Jack Lisowski in a Pro-Am tournament in 2017, and I lost 4-2. But made a good account of myself against a top 16 player. Thanks a lot for the support and thanks for watching 🙂

Hi Barton great video again. I wanted to ask you a question that is it necessary to keep the cue touching the chest while playing shot. I mean can't I cue a bit away from my chest?
@BartonSnooker
@BartonSnooker 3 года назад
Most professional players have the cue lightly touching the chest as they play. It just helps the cue to stay online. Not all do though, so it depends whether you think it's helping ot hindering your cueing.
@ernoeskeli1139
@ernoeskeli1139 3 года назад
Don't worry about it too much, there's no right or wrong way when it comes to technique in general. Do whatever you feel gives you the straightest cueing, sometimes it's not what feels the most comfortable but the eventual target is to feel comfortable with your technique. But as a general advice I'd say have the cur rest on your chest because that makes it much easier to keep the cue on line. When the cue is fixed on two seperate points (the "v" of your bridge and the chest) there really is no way the cue would go off line if those contact points remain during the shot.

@@ernoeskeli1139 thank you for your reply.. I'll invest more of my time to improve my technique and I don't know if this is relevant or not but today I played while having a proper breathing and the results were outrageous I hardly was missing any shots. Ngl earlier I used to hold my breath while playing shots. Well I'll try to make it my habit breathing properly while playing the game.
