I spent the day snorkeling in Panama City Beach and navigating a jellyfish minefield. This was in late Summer of 2019 during the time the Gulf Coast was experiencing large jellyfish swarms. I showed up with my son-in-law Jamie and grandkids and noticed the beaches and water were filled with jellyfish. We had to be careful and watch for the stinging type, but our determination paid off as we saw lots of wonderful marine life including a very friendly Blue Bermuda Angelfish that Jamie found. Jamie is definitely my snorkeling muse... He is the fish whisperer. Thanks for watching!

Went snorkeling there yesterday. Lots of jellyfish. Plenty of fish too, regular crabs, hermit crabs. Lots of fun, I'm tired.😂

I just subscribed to your channel. We are going to Destin Fl this summer (arriving May 1) we are going with friends. I think I’m the only snorkeling freak out of our entire bunch. I am trying to find a hotel/condo/rental in the destin area that we can all agree on. I want to be in walking distance of a snorkeling spot so I can venture out myself. They want a nice pool and ocean view. Do you have any recommendations on where we should stay? I was looking at properties on Holiday Isle but I’m not sure if it’s nice or if there is better? Thanks 😀

We're headed back to St Andrews (now that our kids are a bit older) and will introduce them to snorkeling. Do you recommend a buoyancy aid for kids (ours are 7yr/9yr)? If so what seems to work? Pool noodles? Tubes? Life vest? Just looking for your opinion. Thanks!

I recommend life vests if the kiddos are going to be near the jetties. The currents can be strong so I also recommend keeping the kiddies inside the kiddie pool area of the jetties. Let me know if you have any other questions. Have fun! 😁👍

Thanks Jen! 😀 Many swimmers and snorkelers don't understand jellyfish... which one's sting, which ones don't etc. I wanted to focus on that and provide some education. I agree, they are beautiful... that's why the moon jellies are one of the longest segments in the video and I love the sea nettle. But, there is a big difference between the two in relation to the potential threats to snorkelers and swimmers 😬 Check out the links in the description.. lots of cool info on the jellyfish swarms in my area.

Yep! I visited last September and the Jellyfish were every where!!! Not many people in the water. There was a dead moon on shore being dragged away by a blue crab we saw lol. I guess they taste good to them! Always a pleasure to see your videos especially at St Andrews (my happy place).

Great video! Do you stay on one particular side while snorkeling? The last 2 years I've been there I stayed inside the kiddy pool but have not seen the variety of fish you were seeing. I'm just curious if I'm missing out by being in the wrong spot.

Thanks! 😄 I snorkel both sides of the jetty on the bay side and the Gulf side. You never know what you'll find 😉

I really like your videos. My brother and i had two small boats in Panama City Beach years ago and fished for two years straight. Have you ever heard of anybody recovering treasure either on the beach or from wrecks there ?

Cool video again. I'm going to have to confer with the wife to see when we can escape for a weekend to get down there this year. Our vacation this year is taking us to California. Pretty awesome out there but we really love the Gulf coast. Have you snorkeled the old ship wreck just off St. Andrews? There's not much ship there but the fish seem to like it a lot. Went there on a dolphin watch once.
