Bring a toy with you on the hike, or some form of reward Slowly bring her closer and closer to the truck, doing a few tricks each time you pause to try and turn her focus from the truck to you and the toy/treats The truck = fun That way she'll hopefully have a more positive association with getting in the truck Using that method you might be able to get her all the way up to the truck without as much fuss, but I'm no expert and I've never owned a dog, so take it with a grain of salt 😂 Edit: reward lots when she gets in Edit 2: I've seen someone else use repetition, which in this case would look like getting her into the truck, waiting a moment, then taking her back out and repeating the process. It could take some time but may help

This is great advice, especially from someone who's never had a dog! 👌

@@predictionpain2632 hey bud, one of the best ways to get a good association to the car is to literally, put them in, drive a little bit down the road, then do something really fun. Short distance + high reward at the start and you should see a huge improvement

Hey there! What a nice day for a hike in some snow! Your dogs are gorgeous!! As far as the suggestions for your dog not wanting to get back in the truck: - first recommendation before you go on an off leash hike you need to work on a strong recall. Especially with high drive dogs. A strong recall helps you get your dogs back to you to slip on a leash or have them by your side in case of an emergency, wild animal, strangers and etc. Strongly advise you work on a strong recall before going on off leash walks. Secondly: use a command to get back in the vehicle - for instance I say “Load Up” to our dutchies when I want them to jump in their kennel in the back of my truck - you can use high value treats to get them back in the vehicle or a reward toy - use an e-collar, prong collar or slip lead to lead them back in the vehicle as well The reason we like to have their kennels in the car is because they know it’s their safe space in the vehicle and want to get in there. Hopefully the next hike goes better with her getting into your truck to head home! You can find me on Instagram @thesouthernshepherd if you want to discuss more!

Obviously I'm kinda late but I have a rescue dog who does the same thing. What I like to do is run away from the door with my dog then turn around without hesitation and run toward and up to the door without stopping. That usually works because you aren't really giving the dog a chance to back away and so they just go for it and jump in

I had a similar problem with my gsd as a puppy. I basically would have her get in for a high value treat and right back out. I did that probably 5 times a day for a week then slowly increased the time she was inside until I could closed the back gate without her freaking out. Then I kept increasing by starting my Jeep, next time moving a few feet, time after moving it out into the street, then around the block etc. took like 2-3 weeks but now she’s super excited to get in and it’s been like a year and a half since I did all that.

you can try short 10-15 minutes near the truck at your house with just you and her and try to throw treats or a tug toy into the truck and let her go in on her own.

Did you train them yourself or did you send to professional trainers, did you ever use the E-collar ("shock collar") to train either one?
@emilyclay3485

they are really well trained dogs....i have a 11 month old mal female and we still are working on her....lifelong training! i love the way yours have such good impulse control on your food vids etc. mine can only wait like 1 min 🤣. wish i had hiking areas like that!!! question....how many times per day/week do you take them out to your yard or hiking??
@predictionpain2632
@predictionpain2632 3 года назад
Thats awesome, they play out in the yard at least four times a day for 20 mins or so, I usually show them a ball or frisbee, I take them on a hike or walk a couple times per week.

Hey there, beautiful pups. We just moved to a snowy environment. Just curious when your dogs are out in the snow for a long time do their paws every get too cold messed up? do you use booties for them ever?

It really depends if it's fear based, or doing the "do we HAVE to leave the really fun place!?" You probably just need to take her on smooth rides to some fun/rewarding places 500 times, and work on a "load" command. If it's the later, a correction would probably fix it pretty quick, but make sure she knows what a load command is, and is directly ignoring it.

Hey I have question about my 17 week old Dutch Shepard/ malinois. She was the shyest out of the 4 pups . I chose because I thought she wouldn’t b taken and I liked her . So I’ve had her about a week and it’s taken some adjustment from an isolated farm . I e had a lot of dogs .. labs , large poodles, big dogs and currently have a 6yo gsd who listens very well and is her mentor. Working with her a lot ( semi retired active hiker) but she hates the leash and abit skiddish . She’s a bit more bullheaded than my other pups who I’ve had good success with. Looking for ur opinion having raised 2 . I’m trying to be firm and patient but loving and bonding after working with her . .

Once more a very relaxing video. Thanks, your dogs are awesome 💪 Excuse my ignorance but are your dogs sterilized/neutered? Just thinking bc it’s a male and a female...i have no idea really so it may be a stupid question.

@Edwin Raspe wow really? I wish it would of taken the "edge" off my female malinois! lol...I saw zero change, but I suppose if really depends on the dog.

Wen training ur dogs have ever used a prong collar ? Seems like it works but I’m trying to not have to use it . I don’t mind putting the time in for this dog knowing the energy level and type of dog but want to do it the right way .thx paul
@predictionpain2632
@predictionpain2632 3 года назад
Yes, I have used the pronged collars before and still do sometimes. I use it when someone else is walking my dogs with me, they pull less when it’s on. Stopping frequently forcing the dogs to be patient helps the most though.

I would suggest to keep a treat on you and taking her on a small tour in the truck have a little fun playing tug or a hike and then at the end put her in a leash asl her to heel and if she is a litlle stuborn pop the leash don't pull it a lot of encouragement untill you reach the truck and then place the treat on the place you want her to get

Hi, I really like Dutch shepherd they are my favourite do u know how much i should pay on one ?
@joshturpin8266
@joshturpin8266 4 года назад
It really depends on the breeders, and the dogs themselves. I paid £1300 for a Belgian Malinois that wasn't suitable for protection training so it can really vary quite a lot. What do you want the dog for?
@gavenfoist5784
@gavenfoist5784 3 года назад
i just payed $1000 without any paper and a $250 deposit. so it sorta depends on the breeder

I think you might need to be firmer with your dog and be more of an Alpha. I'm offering no suggestions, although I do have some ideas.
