How did I not know this tune until now when Spotify suggested it to me. I have to say the spirits were wrong as I wasn't offered the opportunity I asked the spirits of Spotify about that suggested me this song to just say yes but whatever I found this fantastic tune from it and can't stop playing. When i was just a small lad I remember looking through the window in my Dad's car while he drove me to school. The song was absolutely magical to me especially the intro. I bought their album when I was just 8 years old and would play this song on repeat and sing it in the car every morning to school. My Dad passed away and everytime i hear this song i think of him ! Snow Patrol is such an incredibly talented band and their songs are very meaningful. I was lucky enough to get a chance to speak with them- but for a couple of hours- in Boston at a pub late night and they showed that they're not only remarkable musicians but also very kind, humble, remarkable people. It sort of reminds me of Muse, except less "intense" maybe? The instruments and lyrics are so epic and then his vocals are so soothing.. the contrasts is pretty amazing.

theopiated Snow Patol are just as epic/intense as Muse, when they play live. I saw them at the O2 London. The light show and sound was so overwhelming when they played 'Fallen Empires' that your mind couldn't process it. Check out some of the videos with the 'red filmstrip' effect!

I have to live with a toxic person. Whenever I lose hope, I play this song first - nothing to do with love at all but their music reminds me to stay positive and that things are going to be great someday! There's something about this band, their music, and their message, in general, that is uplifting. You got this! 💪❤️ There's a lot of people struggling with their Mental Health right now, including me but we've all just got to think about our loved ones and the impact that it would have on them and just know that we're not alone in how we're feeling and that things can get better. ✊ Update: I've got a history of Depression and Anxiety anyway but have been struggling with having Anxiety about the Coronavirus (it doesn't help that my Mum's a Care Worker, I'm close to my 83 year old Nan, my Auntie was a Ward Sister in a Hospital when it first came here to the UK and there's other people in my Family who are classed as 'Keyworkers', so I've been worried sick about them) however a few days ago I unexpectedly got offered and had my first Coronavirus Vaccine and it felt like it was my Birthday. 😃 My Mum and Nan have already had their first Vaccine and having had mine is going to help me to feel a bit safer and it's given me some hope back. 🙏 So keep strong. ❤️ xxx

One of my favorite Snow Patrol songs with some interesting history: The song was written by Gary Lightbody in Los Angeles with producer Jacknife Lee. He wrote it at the request of the band's label in the United States for pop singer Gwen Stefani's then upcoming album. However, Stefani rejected it. Later, Lightbody allowed Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger to record it. Scherzinger had loved the song, and felt grateful and "blessed" upon being given permission to record it, even calling it an "honour" to sing something written by Lightbody. Scherzinger felt influenced by the Northern Irish Lightbody's accent, and attempted to record the song with an accent herself, with Lightbody acting as the producer. Though she was nervous about doing justice to the song, she was relieved when Lightbody told her that her singing had made his mother cry. The song was due to feature on Scherzinger's solo debut album Her Name is Nicole, but the album was ultimately scrapped in favor of her eventual debut Killer Love. When Snow Patrol's label in the United Kingdom heard the song, they were shocked to learn that Lightbody had given away the song in the first place. Lightbody then reclaimed the song for the band. I cannot wait for the next Snow Patrol tour--one of the greatest!!! xx

This song hits so close to home for me right now. My wife and I have been going through a bit of a hurdle in our marriage (I think we will be ok), but we both love music and are constantly using music to express to each other feelings that oftentimes we cannot find the words for. I heard this song for the first time about a week ago and the lyrics were so perfect for our situation. On a related note, how have I missed so many fantastic Snow Patrol songs? You know those songs that make you feel high, or give you the feeling that your heartbeat is in sync with the beats in the song? For me this is one of them. +Nelson Turyasingura This is why I like this song too. I have the same experience when listening to it. I love music but this is the one that always lifts me up..when you say it makes you feel high and your heartbeat is in sync...that's exactly what I feel. I thought it was just me.

+Nelson Turyasingura one of many reasons why a synth player is always a good thing to have in a soft rock band, while i imagine this song would still sound great without synths they play a major part in the song, especially with those plucking sounds you here right at the start and through out the song.

Dated this girl 5 months ago, it was amazing, I was so happy. I wanted a playlist with happy love songs I could play in the background during our dates, at some point I thought of this song to have in the playlist, so I added this song, but I never got the chance to play it because we got in a relationship pretty fast after creating this playlist and after a month of being in a relationship she realised she wasn't as much in love with me as I was for her so she broke up with me, I still get so sad and disappointed every time I hear this song, funny how much a song can mean for someone
