The golden rule with these "gas start" diesels is to cool them done before shutting them off so as to avoid thermal shock to the heads, especially in freezing conditions. People either "idle down" the engine to cool it down before shutting it off or switch it back to gasoline for a few moments to help cool it down. Great to see this old crawler still going strong!
