Snow Summit's 5th annual Crafts N Cranks was synced with Ride MTB Day 2019. This made for a double dose of rad! I check out some of the events, make new MTB friends, and of course ride some trails.
10-ply opens, and I get my first run on it then go back for more. I also ride Party Wave and Westridge. I hang out for some Whip-off action and to check out Dual Slalom practice.
I also get to spend a little time with a Ride MTB Day board member and learn a bit more about this rad day!

Thanks! So cool to see all the groms. Everything is gonna get so much more shreddy in the coming years! Yeah...10-ply was pretty fun! I actually went down on it again today tryin' to go faster. Ha!

I was actually in the background when you were filming the whip off...I was just on the other side. I can see myself holding my phone lol. I left shortly after and went back to Skypark because it was a little less crowded in the afternoon. Unfortunately broke my collarbone on Jumpline on the first kicker/tabletop. Just caught the landing wrong.

Nice! I made it up to SkyPark for International MTB day. Expected a crowd, but then realized people are probably at Snow Summit. Looks like a good time!

Heck yeah! I'm stoked on Ride MTB Day. Seeing what Go Skateboarding Day did for local and larger events was rad. Will be good to see this kind of thing happen and help more cities see the value of supporting their local mountain bikers! 🤘🏽yew!

Great video, and awesome riding (minus the dirt snack). I have the same brace (think I actually talked to you about it at SkyPark a while back). But I also have the Leatt d30 torso armor for park days. It has integrated tabs that hold the brace down snugly. It’s surprisingly comfortable to wear and offers CE level chest, shoulder, and back protection. Might be worth seeing it the guys at Leatt (they’re over in Santa Clarita) would hook you up with one.

Thanks for the info! I put the straps on for the last couple rides, and it’s been a lot more stable. Super light piece of kit, which is part of why it was knocking the helmet. I’ve also appreciates how it’s “coaching” me into a stronger torso position.

Yeah I didn't make it to Summit but Greer instead. Btw for those who don't want the lines try to get there on a weekday if the park is open. Tickets are also a bit cheaper especially if you order online.

MTB ALAN when I was there the misters were on but we couldn’t even use them! Just walked through. Lots of laps though. I think we clocked like 12000 feet of elevation 😂. 10-Ply definitely looks like a trail to hit up next time!

I didn't notice the knocking noise until you pointing it out. When I film, (Just a crappy Session 4 on a helmet mount,) my sunnies smack the helmet and make the same noise.

Super fun! And it's not just people. It's fellow mountain bikers! At bike parks, I really dig all the people. That's why I go there. I definitely appreciate the quiet and nature-appreciating moments of more remote trails (like San Juan), but bike parks are as much about the people as they are about the trails! 🤘🏽😁

@@mtb_alan yeah your right. I guess if you go with a group of people etc it can be fun on the weekend. I'm just use to riding down and literally 2 minutes to no minutes wait. I have Sunday, Monday Tuesday off and I learned to love those days off. I have kids and eveything else is dead on weekdays from malls to zoo to Costco lol etc. Hopefully one day I'll be up there in the weekend and I run into you. Thanks for answering to. Your humping is getting really solid this season! Quick question for you - about when does Snow Summit close for the season? I'm going to be out that way for a conference in early October and going to have a free day on the weekend was hoping the park might still be running...thanks!

LOL! I try not to talk too much about my humping on camera! 😆 I think SS will close mid-October. I am basing that on the fact that my closing day video from last year came out at the end of October last year. Hope that helps!

This event at Snow Summit was a solid opportunity to meet fellow MTBers, ride the trails, and generally soak in the mountain biking community. I hope you got out for #RideMTBDay. If not, it's every year July 20!

I’m using the IXS ones. The don’t slide much and are comfortable. Though I might try some that have some plastic on the outers that will slide across rocks. The IXS have been solid though.

10-ply is no joke. What trips me out, is that it's probably on the easier end of double blacks. Ha! And yeah...meeting subscribers on the trail or at the park is always rad!
