so what you're saying is to marathon every Harry Potter movie while making this, and you might finish by the time Voldy kicks it.

I swapped the collar of my snow white for a choker with a lot of frills made of lace and stiff interfacing to frame my head like an Elizabethan ruff but it made it so I could not tilt my head forward and I have to tilt my head upwards which makes me look rather like a queen.

One pretty good idea for that collar to be able to pop out more and be more stiff is to sew a thin band of curtain heading tape or something like that before pleating? Don't know how that'd work for costumes really but just an idea. I work in retail for curtains XD

Wow....so creative. The Mod Podge worked out very well.
@AxcelerationDesigns

It wasn't straight up modge podge. It was the modge podge brand of stiffner

I know....I just never knew how good the Mod Podge brand would work, and you gave a great example. Love seeing the process of anything you make.

Thank you so much for this! I've working on the collar for a cape and nothing has worked to get it to stand up the way I need it to. I remembered your video and the craft wire base seems like it will work perfectly!

No idea if this is an ok thing to do, but if you want to make another collar at some point, it might be fun to try cartridge pleating. Depending on the fabric it might even stand up on its own. (you'd need some seriously stiff fabric for that though)

The collar turned out great! Though if you didn't want the wire to stand out, couldn't you have just spray painted it white instead of wrapping tape all around it?
@AxcelerationDesigns
@AxcelerationDesigns 7 лет назад
Yes. But the tape also helped make it stronger

Gosh, i had this issue with my Snow White collar. Pellon! otherwise hat interfacing! That'll make it stand.

The wire Medici collar is a thing. You can order them professionally built and welded together, because they work. Buckram doesn’t hold up the weight.

this totally just solved my issue with elementalist lux dark forms collar type thing, only issue though, would it work with solid coloured fabric instead of lace?
@AxcelerationDesigns
@AxcelerationDesigns 7 лет назад
Absolutely. You're frame cam even be simpler than mine. I covered it in tape because you could see it through the lace. If yours have solid fabric it won't matter

How did you make your pattern for your collar? How long in length was it? Please respond if you can, thanks!
@AxcelerationDesigns
@AxcelerationDesigns 6 лет назад
+Saskia Nakahara the pattern was just a huge rectangle. I think it was like 12 feet or something big like that

That’s not starch. Mod podge is plastic, it’s basicly acrylic painting medium. Starch is from plants, think it’s cellulose. Words matter.

Listening also matters. If you are referring to the Mod Podge stiffener i am using, it is in fact, stiffener, Just like I say in the video. Mod Podge is a brand, and they make a few various product. A simple google search would tell you this. I know what I'm doing. Next time do your own research before you come for mine, thank you.
