+Andreas Filippou I am really happy Koreans films are getting the acknowledgment it should. I was really surprised that this film got as much press and funding as it did for South Korea, a small country who is still trying to reach out to others. Also Netflix I am so surprise they pick it up.
Snowpiercer is a good movie with a shit ton of mind blowing plot holes....... but this is his English film debut, and he did an impressive job with it.
the interpreter keeps saying "He did something" not "I did something" . The interpreter should have used the first person "I' not "He" when he was translating director Bong .
rhys roberts I’m glad you read my comment correctly I don’t care if he speaks Korean or not I was just wondering if he can speak English otherwise why wouldn’t it he just make snowpiercer in Korean
If Snowpiercer was made in Korean language it probably would’ve bombed very badly, and that’s due to audiences not willing to take chances with foreign films/subtitles. Weinstein company wouldn’t have distributed the film around America and the UK if it was Korean. Unfortunately that’s the film business. But yeah Bong switches between English and Korean in his interviews.

통역이 아니라 그냥 하이라이트 해서 리포트 하네...별로 길지도 않은데 말한 내용의 디테일을 너무 듬성듬성 빠뜨려 버리니까 왜곡이 일어나고 뉘앙스가 안 살아나 그리고..통역을 하면서 왜 자꾸 he said를 머리에 붙이냐? 봉준호말을 통역한다고 생각하지 사회자 말을 되풀이 한다고 생각할 사람이 누가 있다고.... 통역사가 인지 능력 기억력등 기본적인 지적 수준 자체가 많이 모자라네.
왜요 톤이 조금 낮아서 그렇지 이중언어를 하신다는것은 대단한 능력이신데요. 영어도 원어민급인거 맞고요. 우리는 영어하나 외국어로서 습득하는것도 어려운데, 저렇게 이중언어 그리고 영어에 한국어를 잘하시는것은 뛰어난 실력 맞으세요. 봉테일감독이 아무나 뽑은것도 아닐것이고요. 중간중간 관객들도 많이 웃고 충분히 메세지 전달 잘 되었어요. 누구누구와 비교하는 소위 엄친딸의 비교로 깎아내리는것은 좋지 않아 보여요. 그 기준으론 그 누구도 혹평과 비판, 비난에서 자유로울 수 없어요. 인생은 상대적인 거잖아요. 나보다 좀 더 잘하는 사람이 있을수있고 내가 못해보여도 나보다 못한사람들도 있고요. 개성과 각자가 가진만큼의 능력을 존중해줍시다.
This interpreter gives very low energy.... Interpreter tone sounds depressing. More importantly, the interpreter should interpret as exactly he's saying not interpreter is interpreting.
