Kaylo Shearer I finished the first half of Michigan with it, and the Fleestar. The second half was dominated by some of the Russian trucks, and the Paystar.
I gotta hand it to you. The CAT is a handsome looking brute like some other trucks. But the old timer still got some beef to pull tasks sent straight from the underworld.
Yes. I have been using the Western since I got it in Michigan. Now being in Alaska the only truck that can really beat it is the tayga king but it is in a different class!
@@mr.butterworth They probably don't care too much. It's not a truck designed for offroad use and on road it did perform better then the western star. CAT's main focus is construction/earth moving vehicles which means they are probably quite happy with the performance of the 745C (basically unstoppable) and can overlook the other vehicles issues.
@@digitalcamaro9708 Most of the US trucks the devs put into the games are underwhelming. 80-90% of the US heavy trucks are designed for paved/unpaved roads. Navistar 5000, Oshkosh M1070 and M911 are heavy equipment transports. They can handle some unusual road conditions but they aren't meant for offroad use. The M520 Goer manufactured by CAT or the HEMTT or LVSR by Oshkosh would have made for a better showing.
The Western Star is by far my absolute favorite in the game from the looks and from the capability. It served me well from the moment I rescued it from the Smithville dam and remains in my fleet with good memories. It helped in the most difficult missions from Michigan to Russia and never became stuck even with the extra large trailers. I think without the raised suspension the CAT is pretty useless and rather expensive. I would much rather have the Fleetstar instead of the CAT.
From my experience the Fleetstar is super light in the front. I always find myself doing wheelies or not being able to get grip on the front tires to steer. It’s a very good truck imo just pretty front light
The CAT's rear suspension has been defunct since launch, so it's at a disadvantage because it's constantly dragging it's frame on the ground. It's basically a lawn ornament.
I use it for trailers but you are right it really struggles with sharp angels it needs active suspension one because it has air bags and all trucks and raise themselves irl
It's not defunct. It's a walking beam suspension exactly as we find on the ZikZ 605R. The result is good stability as it doesn't store up a huge amount of energy like the springs on the 4964, and good tyre contact as the suspension is literally incapable of holding a wheel off the ground (this is by design), but also poor ground clearance as the suspension has zero travel. IRL, the CT680 didn't survive because it was very uncomfortable precisely because of the lack of suspension travel.
The cat has no suspension in the rear. Watch it’s mr. lone wolfs review. The results are the same but he explores more testing and gives you a deep understanding of a truck. This video is amazing tho keep up the good work!
It is the game fault, the game uses more complex statistics but those are never shown to the user, which is extremely retard UI design, in fact the CAT with UOD ll can plow through any terrain, since it weights nothing, it nevers sinks with those tires.
@@juanca2807 UOD II are the best traction offroad tires. In fact for mud the UOD II / OHD I (1.9) are almost as good as the MHS I (2.0) that is available on most offroad and heavy class vehicles The chained tires have something like 1.3. Yes, the game UI is quite badly designed, as there are sufficient differences between tires of the same class
@@roberts.wilson1848 Yes I know, also the P16 stock wheels have the best mud/sustance coefficient, because "reasons". The UI is just a bunch of standard fixed labels, the game will be updated but really slow. I think in 1 year this will be a pretty good game actually, sad for everyone "beta testing".
Love the comparison vids! The WWS is probably my favorite so far - always seems to get the job done! Usually it's my crane truck as is goes everywhere, decent fuel economy and is very stable.
WWS 4964 all the way because the cat has no lift or a rear suspension and the fact you gotta get to rank 12 to unlock it and the WWS has that c l a s s i c mudrunner horn
Great job mate. I bought the CAT used it for a few contracts then sold it. The western star I used for most of Michigan as a semi. Its so wide and stable plus it pulls well for its size.
White western star is good for hevy Crane and resuce and transport is fast and agile flestar f2070a is my favorite truck with upgrades this truck is very Good in the mishigan and alaska Caterpiar Ct 680 is good truck for easy tasks and light transport
@Daria Janusz the Fleetstar is a good all-purpose rig, although the frame is a little undersized for the heavy crane making it on the tipsy side with that add-on. And as a tractor the front wheels are in the air half the time, but it is a good truck.
The cat is not terrible. I have found that there is 1 front bumper that improves the approach angle significantly. With that installed i havent had too many issues with the cat. I wll say that the livery for the western star beats any of the colors on the cat though.
I vote Western. Was the most dependable truck while working in Michigan. Only other truck I used was Kodiak either for manually loading cargo or fuel and repair Western Star.
I had intended to use the white western star in place of the fleet star since they are the same length but for whatever reason the white can't have a crane, flatbed, and pull a trailer like the fleetstar
Intersting compartion. For me CAT was good on roads of Alaska with chains. WHITE was pefect in mud, but on hard road I suffered of it`s gearbox - not my style at all.
Yeah I love the western star too I have both in my garage and use them both but the western star did get me through michagan and alaska and I still use it in Russia too
Now that you've tested this, try comparing the WWS to the Voron D53233. According to the store page, the Voron is actually a Heavy Duty truck disguised as an Offroad class. Many of the Russian vehicles are actually members of different vehicle classes than what's listed, as far as their function/performance goes.
Western Star. The mud pretty much cinched it for me. The wider chassis also makes it more stable. The higher ground clearance is also appreciated. On a sidenote, did you know that you can choose what kinds of ads appear in your videos, and how often? Just saying, because I got five Raid ads on this video. And before anyone decides to be a smartass and tell me to get an ad blocker, I do have one. Keeping the ads on and giving them the clicks is just my way of supporting the creators.
got some request for some videos: Navistar 5000 vs frieghtliner M91A1 loadstar 1700 vs Tuz Warthog (cos they look similar) Dan 96320 vs Pacific P12 Great video man!
@CT-1409 the Navistar International vs. Freightliner matchup will be fun to see. That Freightliner is very short too, and the 5000MV a longish sleeper cab, so the contrast will be interesting.
I love the the Cat it looks good and Ive had both it and the WWS bound up in the russian quarry and the Cat wasnt give in even in High range and the WWS said nope im done
I prefer the Cat because of the looks and it having helped me thru Alaska, it feels like it gose on longer as well, but it the cat doesn't have a raised, nor a rear suspension.
Its really weird, in the garage it said S+, it was only when he showed the "maxxed" stats that it went down to A. I think he used the wrong image for the new stats.
Caterpilar is good sometimes but the white western star can do anything in any region even in the kola peninsula where the ice is breaking, in addition the white western star has high suspensions.
I don't know...maybe I'll if there're some interesting mods.....Also this new method of downloading mods is kinda slow for me...sometimes it just stuck at downloading.
@@EdwardNigma950 It's like it's not utilizing full bandwidth...unlike steam where mods were downloaded in launcher itself at full network bandwidth....I'll try deleting mods folder...wish they improve this system soon
@@SD1ONE Don't think that they will, but, there is a huge amount of very-very good mods, cause they are made with attention to details, I can give you my fav list of mods, if you want.
The CAT and White Western Star share tire upgrades/sizes that being said the best mud tire is going to be: Off-Road 47" UOD ll Mud Rating of 1.9 Chained 47" UAD lll Mud Rating of 1.3 Now that don't sound like much but when you're in the mud fighting for your life, every little bit helps. Don't buy the Off-Road 47" UOD lll thinking their better, they have a Mud Rating of 1.5
Anyone knows why he puts the chained tires on them? According to the spreadsheet that's been around, mud tires are way better than any chained counterpart. No?
heavies arу special machines, with biggest sizes and lack of most addons. Offroad ones often come with always on diff lock and AWD, also best of them can be fitted with mud tires, while heavy duty have only offroad ones and never have always on difflock/ AWD
@@vladvulcan Well yes, but if you look on american offroad trucks most of them have swichable awd and diff lock and can't have mud tires (exept paystar) which makes them simmilar to heavy duty trucks.
Not saying it would've changed the overall outcome, but isn't the CAT's 2700T a more powerful engine than the 2600TTA you chose? Perhaps could have helped it in some of the challenges.
Still the result would be more or less same....at the time of recording this video I didn't knew if it affect power because the power to weight ratio was already maxxed in both cases....but I think a loaded truck would be better to measure such changes.
I have a question about owning and selling the trucks. As far as going for the achievements in the game you can unlock for owning them all, do you need to own them all at once or just have them at least once. Like say if I sell a truck, does that still count towards getting them all just as long as you had it at one point?
Answered my own question with a google search, you can sell off trucks and still counts towards owning every truck in the game even if you no longer have one of it's kind in your garage.
