Nice job! Your a fine craftsman! I was a diesel mechanic for 42 years at caterpillar. I love machine shop work.. I tell the kids welding, machine shop, and mechanics work hand in hand. Thank you for sharing the videos with everyone!
Hi Adam, really pleased I found you on you tube. Am only a bush machinist but ok to carry out farm projects. Good luck with keeping fit. Neil. NSW Australia
Well done Adam! Your positive attitude approach definitely will encourage others to make the right choices. Keep at it. We are VERY VERY proud of you. Al
Excellent news on the weight loss. Second to not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight is probably one of the most beneficial hings we can do. I like the thread chaser and the patio roof.
Way to go Adam! Keep up the great work. Weight has been a struggle for me all my life so it encourages me to see your progress. You will appreciate it as well.
It only gets better! I've always been a big guy and it never bothered me but I needed a change. Went from 420 lbs down to 250 lbs at the moment. It's a discipline but it works. Proud of you buddy!
be proud Adam, well done mate. Keep pushing it forward, even if you have a bad month in the future, wipe it away and keep being awesome. You've got a lovely girl and all us for support if you need it
Good for you, Adam! Slow and steady is the way to go. Changing lifestyles is hard as heck, but you can do it! As the Aussies would say, "Good on ya, mate!"
Good job on the lost weight. One good motivation technique is once you've lost a little bit of weight, every once and a while carry something that weighs about what you lost. It will put the amount you've lost in (physical) perspective. When my buddy lost 40lbs he walked around with a 40lbs bag of dog food on his shoulders, and when he lost 80lbs, he walked around with two. He said it was pretty eye opening to realize how much extra weight he was previously carrying around.
i'm glad to see you sticking with your weight loss program as time goes on it will get easier . don't get discouraged ,there will be times when nothing happens at the scale, but stay the course and you will be successful. i kept a pair of my old 52 waist jeans as a reminder of where i came from. i wear 34 now.. the health benefits alone are.worth it. good to see the stick welder in action. most people today who aren't welders think tig is the answer to all things in welding. the patio looks great, i have the same wind chime on mine..
The patio cover looks really really good. Strong and rot resistant. Roof angle should help it stand up to wind and rain as well. You set a good example.
Abom, losing weight is one of the biggest battles I have been fighting all my life. Congrats on 15lbs. I know how tuff it can be to change those habits, good on you mate.
I enjoy your post. At 87 i have a small shop in vermont . In it is a 1927 P&W Lathe and with i came a very old Dumore grinder, wich still works very well. Thanks. Gramps
The house is looking good Adam. Keep up the hard work on your health I was in a bad place 8 years ago high cholesterol, triglycerides, sugar and blood pressure with the help of my doctor got everything down to normal it was a lot of work but learning how to eat right is a big part along with exercise. Keep it up.
It would be cool to see an up close & slow-motion shot of an insert at work. Would like to see how the chips curl up and break off. Difference between a small chip and stringy chip etc.
Adam, nice work on the weight loss. I found myself in similar circumstances, now down 80lbs over 2 years. Keep working, make the healthy changes part of your lifestyle going forward, then things like eating healthy and getting some regular exercise become part of your 'normal' and sustaining your progress gets easy. Keep at it!
Adam, proud of you man. I have watched you since the beginning, and even back in the P.M. days. At the beginning of the year when you talked about your goals, I was happy to hear your health goals. I was kinda starting to get worried about ya a bit. Gotto keep you around a lot longer buddy.
I knew it! I never saw your 2018 goals video, so I didn't know you are working on your weight. I was watching your first cuts on the shaper tonight and thought, "damn, there's no mistaking it, Adam's lost weight!" Now you confirmed that you are working on it. So you might not be able to see it, but it's really starting to show to me, and I couldn't be more stoked for you. Great job!
Great to hear that you've taken meassures to improve your health. I have zero experience with machining, but it's so satisfying to watch metal being shaped and your skills really impresses me. Keep it up, please! :)
Progress all over the place. Nice addition to the house, good to have friends over. Carrying too much weight can lead to becoming a diabetic. Being one, I can assure you its not fun. I didn't realize that MI had a repair facility like the one you work in. They have a branch just a couple of blocks from my shop where I get parts for our equipment. I also own stock in their parent company. You have developed quite a reputation on the rest of the RU-vid machine videos sites. Thanks, from Nebraska
We used to make tool post grinders from old worn out grinding machines, worked like a charm. One day we had just one of them left, without a safety cap over the grinder stone. So we had this sequence where we would plug it in ( the power switch was broken) and see if it would run. So we plugged it in and it started up but turned quit all of a sudden. We unplugged it and the grinder stone disk was gone, dissapeared! Months later i was doing a job and it was raining, and i felt these droplets on my shoulder. So i looked up and saw the shape of the grinder stone in the roof :-) We shased it and found another mark in the roof ecactly the same but 50 Feet further. Then we knew the stone had gone trough the roof, fell back into it and landed somewhere in pieces and when we started looking around we actually found the debris..
Well done Adam. It sounds like we share doing better with an eating routine. Eating the same thing a lot of the time, for me, helps turn those meals from an event into just a refuel session. The results are subtle and sneaky. Like jumping down out of the bed of a truck, then standing there realizing and being surprised your knee caps aren't across the yard.
From watching your vids, i know that u never do things halfassed, So i have no doubt that you will beat the weight problem. Just keep doing it your way big guy! Thanks for all the good times. :-))
Abom Man. I just started a diet about a month and a half ago. I started the nutri-system diet since I never have time to cook. I'm down almost 20 pounds and I'm never hungry. My woman is doing it too and she is down by 30. I feel 1000 times better. My back pain is almost gone and I have tons of energy. I didn't expect this big of a change just by fixing my diet. Be sure to keep us updated on your progress! Love the channel BTW.
Healthy, steady weight loss. Doing well. Nice patio roof. Keeps the sun and rain off the cookers. I'm surprised that the belt guard on the grinder doesn't cover the side where it's grinding.
awesome to hear you're losing weight, man! new to the channel, but I'm a big fan, already. Loved your comparing shaping to old muscle cars, that's a good point. I hate steamed vegetables, so my wife and I tend to bake them after steaming. Just a personal preference, but helps make something we don't like a little more tolerable. keep up the good work!
Congratulations on the fifteen less pounds. You know it will be good for us viewers also, as it increases our odds that you will be creating awesome content for even more years to come. Keep up all your great endeavors, Adam!
Great job on the weight, Adam. Keep it up! I put on a lot of weight when I left the active Army. Had to modify my diet much like you are. One thing that helped me was to keep veggies around for a snack. Can't hurt anything with veggies and it keeps me from feeling super hungry and wanting to overeat at mealtime. You'll be amazed how you feel in a few weeks/months!
Congratulations on your weight loss Adam! I'm a big guy like you are and when my doctor said lose weight or else, I decided to try. I lost 50 pounds over 11 months and feel much better. If I can do it so can you. Hang in there and stay busy. It keeps your mind off eating!
This type of turning is my favorite to watch. First chips from a welded or rough cut piece if only you WOULD NOT SKIP IT. i watch every second that you determine is enough but i would like more, more
Adam, is very nice to hear about your health. I've been overweight my entire childhood and I know how hard it is to say no when your body say yes. I'm totally sure you can do it and I'm very happy for you. I don't use to judge people based on appearances and to be honest I don't care if look better in the screen. but I'm happy because I know how dangerous it is to be a big guy.... people don't realize that it is equally dangerous or even more than someone who smokes. be brave, go on and don't let people let you loose all the focus and energy you've been putting on your goal. be sure that many others viewers are very happy and proud of you too. also I think you´re already inspiring other people in similar situation....
Adam, just wanted to let you know I really enjoy your videos. I look forward to them. The patio, shop extension and all the concrete work are all looking good. Take care the diet is working, I can see the weight coming off.
Good 👍 , Keep on the hard work bro. You are great man and you are motivating others in everything your work and losing weight. Thanks for everything you share with us . My best regards from here in Saudi Arabia.
Great video with plenty of good content. Thank you for showing us all how some of this work is done. And congradulations on your weight loss. It's not easy. Thank you. Dan
You will recognize real progress when you can see it all in mirror without having to move around. I still get "Next axle please" on my wife's digital scale.
I have to say that I'm so pleased you are changing your eating habits. I hope that does not sound rude as I was not judging before. You add so much to the machining community with your great videos. I want to you to be happy and live a long life.
Tool post grinding turn top slide to 6 degrees. Top slide dial reading will be old -001 cut will be come -0001 tenths feed per side. Found this in book called "know your lathe" for Boxford uk lathe. Steve
Congratulations on the 15lbs, Adam! You really do look better, and it's so good to hear that you're looking after yourself. You're a real inspiration to me, thanks man!
Hi Adam, the patio roof looks great, just a suggestion though maybe in the future you can get a door in the wall to gain entry to and stay under cover, well done Adam you are a real goer so keep it up and you will succeed at what you believe in.
I like your small machining clip transitions in your opening comments, smart of you to insert there, likely helps retention rate and they are fun to see. Sweet score on the new tool post grinder!
Good stuff on the weight loss buddy, your looking good keep it up. Weld build up looks great for what u had to work with. Nice, new tools are all ways a good time. To bad that chrome plating was shy. Thanx for another great SNS man. Keep doing what u are bro.👍
Thanks for the videos. Way to go on the weight loss. Live long and prosper. Would love to see more tool post grinding videos. I've got a small Dumore tool post grinder and would like to learn how to use it. Regards. Glenn Davis
Hey Adam you should run you a tall hedge along the fence there. Might help block some of the road noise and also give you some privacy on the new patio. Looks great!
Good Job Adam. Vi said she could tell you had lost weight even before you said it. I lost 50 lbs from 235 to 185. It took 5 years but it was worth it. Of course last years heart attack made even more loss. Looking forward to seeing you in Pensacola soon.
Keep up the good work with healthy eating. You will be very much rewarded by good health in the long run. I wish you the best (and keep up the great videos!!!)
