This week is a big mixup. I start with some shop cleanup then hit the road to the landfill, then over to Rudd Welding to pick up some steel and take a shop tour, then we head out to pick up a new storage cabinet. Afterwards I get busy on some shop organizing.

Days like these are what make self employment so enjoyable, you would probably have never seen that cabinet on Craigslist previously, and if you did would have missed it. Don't stop making these type of videos Adam, they are a great insight and an inspiration. Thank you for the content.

Total liberation, Adam... When you spend years working the 9-5 stuck inside a building and forced to do errands on weekends with everyone else, getting out on a weekday when everyone else is working and places are empty feels like total liberation. My preference was always work weekends and have weekdays off for that reason.

Couple things Adam, first your mom looks awesome. I've always thought it is the sign of a mature grown man when he proudly introduces you to his mother! Proud to say mine is 90, and my wife and I live adjacent to her house so that she can remain in her home. Regarding your storage shed, I recently did the same thing and I picked up couple of those heavy duty shelf units at the Home Depot, the ones that are all welded, there's no hardware, you just knock them together, and they can hold several tons, then put that treated plywood over the metal shelving, they're easy and fast to put up, or take down if I move some day, and it seems like they were under $200 ea. for the standard height. And they don't sag over time like wood, plus the insects don't like them. Lastly on the argon welding helper, thanks for showing the 4 flute endmill and why people use two or three flute mills. Excellent unintentional demonstration. Lastly thanks for clearly demonstrating the virtues of Helicoils and the right way to install them. I now feel totally confident in using them Scott.

I was glad you posted the vlog even with the landfill after the IG debacle. I too, as you, recycle as much as I can, sometimes more than I throw away in a week. I can't believe the way they go after just you because you use what's given to you by the gov. The fact that you used the landfill to dispose of what's left is about the best step can take, my .02¢. Anyhow, loved the vlog and look forward to many more to come.

Adam, congratulations on your new adventure in life. It's always nice to see someone follow their dream in life, you deserve every bit of it. I was waiting to see how you would unload the heavy chunk of steel you picked up at your brothers work place. Curious if that magnet you use to pick up steel with was going to lift that chunk of steel. You've got a really nice heavy duty hand truck, I'm a retired truck driver, I used a hand truck similar to that one in my job, it was made by American Pulley Co., I used it to moved some pretty heavy things. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Always a pleasure to watch.

landfill is interesting, our local one (UK) is always busy , it's free to use (council actually turns a profit from the recycling) but no trailers or trade waste are allowed . It is somewhat small than the abom sized one , the whole site would fit comfortably in that big shed.

Hi Mom! Nice to meet you. Looks to me you just may have raised those two boys right. For me, the jury is not out and they have been found guilty of being raised right. ABomb79, you should put some kind of material between those metal things and that concrete. Concrete is very, very porous and direct contact with metal will rust. Anything, plastic liner, wood, anything. I life if fog-central and am constantly chasing rust.

Grinding HSS tools for the lathe/shaper (angles, reliefs, chip breakers, steel grade, differences for aluminum vs steel geometries you like, etc.) 3.) feeds and speeds on normal machines vs. machine at handbook recommendations 4.) tool/shop maintenance (rust inhibitors, machine cleanup after a job, spindle maintenance, etc.)

You crack me up...never seen anyone so excited to go to the “dumps”. At least that’s what we call the “landfill” in Utah. Plus....those stop signs at the dumps aren’t real anyways 😂 Also that old hand truck your moving all that stuff around with brought back some memories. My great grandpa build a coupe like that he used moving furnaces and air conditioning units and everything else for his wholesale hvac business. I was the 4the generation of that business up until we sold it in 2007. They were old and heavy, but by far the best rolling most solid hand trucks we ever had...and we had many dozens over the years. Amazing to think about when I see some of this stuff. So cool.

That Starrett 204 also seems to have a lot of clearance around the anvil. I have a craftsman micrometer that I picked up from an old retired machinist's toolbox craigslist find that he recommended throwing away. It was ground down almost exactly like that to fit a specific measurement he said he had to do regularly. It's still accurate enough for the work I do, I hit several of my gage blocks all right on so I kept it in case I need to get into a tight spot to measure something.
