Hey there Justin. There are many ways to do steaks, but this way is one of my favorites. First time I saw this is when Dave came to your house. That was a very hot fire. Thanks for dropping by. Happy Thanksgiving
Haha, you like that do ya. I enjoy hats, especially since most of my hair has turned loose. lol Glad you enjoyed the vid. Thanks for watching and for the hat. Have a great day.
That SNS is like a Cadillac deserving of rib eyes.!!... Meden voyage was excellent.!!... Thanks for sharing, and you finally got the hat angle down bro.!!
Well that steak looked perfect! I really like that grill and how easy it is to reverse sear. The way that grate spins is pure bad assery! Nice job Phil!🤘
Hey Joe. Yes Dave got us kettle users spinning steaks on the kettle first, then designed that SNS into the kamado on the top, and standard kamado cooking style with the changeup. Looking forward to doing so many different things on this cooker. Thanks for watching.
Yea, Toby knew Janet's mom and aunt were inside and wanted to go crawl all over them. Jack Russell's don't give up. The only reason he stopped is that Jared walked outside. The steaks cooked up nice and were delicious. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving
Good Lord what a meal !!!! I have never found a Kamado that I liked for the price charged, Now I am waiting to see you smoke something on it. I kinda like that thing... I'm gonna have to start short stopping ya'lls Videos because everytime I see the whole meal I just get HUNGRY. Great Job...
Smoking something is coming real soon. Stay Tuned. Thanks for watching. If you decide on this one, go through my affiliate link on the show more description box. It will help us out some. Thanks brother
Hey Walter, yes one here and one there and before you know it, no more room. What's a guy to do. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos coming to the PIF channel.
Man Oooh Man !!!! That’s some fine looking steak brother !!! Nice reverse sear Phil !! That was a great cook and great job giving the new grill a workout lol !! Have a good one buddy !!!
Duuuuuude! I don’t think you could have cooked them steaks any more perfect… and on your first cook on the Kamado! That was a roaring fire only us offset guys can dream of. I mean… that was a restaurant quality sear. Very well done my friend. 👍 I loved the outtakes. Also… How much is that doggie in the window...? 🐶 😉
haha, that Doggie Toby. He will not let up when he sets his mind on something. That's just how Jack Russell's are. He knew our company was inside and wanted at them. The new cooker is exciting and I'm looking forward to lots of fun cooks. That was a hot fire for sure. After snuffing the coals, went out 2 hours later, and the top of that thing was still very hot. That ceramic will hold the heat a long time. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving
Yea, the kickash basket is a great accessory. Waiting on the kickash can to be available. Lift out basket and shake shake shake, then lift out the can which would be down in the 4x8.5 inch round well, lift out and dump. Then you're ready to refire. Thanks for watching.
Great looking steaks PIF. Man I have to say that SNS has everything you could want. Hope TIF got inside to have some. Nice hat and love the out takes. I'm going to start doing that as well. Heck half the dang video will be out takes thought. You and Janet have a great Thanksgiving!
Thanks Gary. Toby got in. He won't be denied. Jack Russell trait. I was pleased with the cooker and results. Got a lot of ideas in mind. Yea, blooper reel is probably 30 minutes. LOL Happy Thanksgiving
I would've love to join you your dinner table for this.. I like the spin grate that grill comes with. I've never used a sns but it seem nice too. Great way to break it in the new toy.
Yes, a nice steak was a good place to start to break in the new cooker. They turned out great. You can do it this way on the weber kettle too. Thanks Joe.
Hey Phil, that's a beauty of a kamado grill/smoker... definitely a good way to break her in. That was a good technique with the six steaks using the spin great... it worked out good! Steaks turned out nice!! The salad and potatoes with all the fixin's was a good pairing to have with the steaks. I know the both of you enjoyed your meal... say hello to Janet for me... biggs : )
Hey Biggs. Just now seeing your post. Yea this was a terrific meal for sure. Appreciate you checking it out. Hope you guys are doing good. Cold weather finally arrived. Stay warm. 78 one day, and 47 the next here. Crazy weather here.
For a 1st cook you hit out of the park. I would suggest that the slow and sear flame is close to the seal. Would like to see the tray mod to a smaller dimension to allow you to move away from the edge. This would give a better flame protection and longer life to the seal .at least 100mm from the edge for searing. 🙌🙌🙌🙌. Great unit. When are they coming to Australia. 🤔🤔🤔
Thanks for watching and your thoughts. I thought the same thing after watching the playback how the flame was kissing the gasket. Not sure about offering to Australian users. Maybe Dave could shed some light. I'll ask him about it.
Hey! Phil .....Those Ribeye Steaks had you dancing LOL fantastic flavor no doubt. Do have a wonderful week and Happy Thanksgiving you and your family from Jacklyn and Dad (Stephen).
Hello Stephen, these steaks turned out perfect. medium rare with a nice sear. Had to cut loose. lol Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more cooks on the new SNS KAMADO.
We don't need no blower when we be full of hot air! LOL. Man those steaks came out looking ever so good. There is no doubt that grill is a keeper!!! Pass Janet's sides and lets eat!!!
Hey Craig. Two things I found out. Kamado's are heavy meaning you know you are hooked onto something when you grabb it like you do the kettle or wsm and it doesn't move. lol The other thing is they can get very hot, but that can be a plus if you learn to control it. I shut it down with a hot fire. Came back two hours later and still couldn't leave my hand on top. Holds heat like still on. I saw on a video where the guy pulled the kickash basket out after the cook to help the cooker cool down quicker. You should go watch the short videos about the Kickash basket and kickash can. Very worthwhile accessories. They have them for the KJ at that site. You just lift the basket and shake it, them grab the kickash can from the bottom and dump it.
Phil N Florence Thanks Phil! I actually have a Kick Ash basket, it was the 1st accessory I got for my KJ, but I really do appreciate you sharing your thoughts! I agree, it is great to use and a great way to shake out the ash and save the charcoal! When I got my Big Joe, I talked Jack into helping assemble, we should have had another person or 2 young guy to help put into the stand. LOL It was heavy! They take a little longer to heat up but they hold tremendous heat. Dave is doing a great job with SNS grills. I just saw they have a rotisserie for your new cooker! Have a great Thanksgiving!
@@progers5019 you also Phil, believe it or not many people do not know grades of beef, there 8, but only ones sold in grocer's are prime, choice, select, you know the difference my friend
He Steve and good morning. Yes, the hottest sear fire ever. No blower needed and prolly no half chimney needed. I have some things I want to do with it. We shall see. Thanks for stopping by.
Darn Phil, you got it dirty. awesome cook. really enjoyed watching this cook. love the little bloopers. lol... Phil wishing you and Florence and the whole clan a great T-Day. Enjoy!
Hi Phil and Jif, nice family photo... love doing a reverse sear on steaks. Steaks looked amazing delicious 🤤 thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Yes David, we all know there are many ways to cook or grill steak. This is one of my favorite ways. It has a nice outside sear with even medium rare all the way across the internal. Thanks for watching and Happy Thanksgiving
Hey my friend, really nice looking steaks! I like mine well done! Looks like the smoker did the trick. Enjoyed the video! I would tell you to get your "Guns UP" but last night Kansas State took those away along with any chance of going to a bowl game. lol! Take Care!
Hey Skoggit. I am enjoying this new cooker. Stay Tuned for more vids using it. Yea I know what you mean about the guns are gone. lol Carolina is in the same boat. No bowl game this year. Take Care my friend.
Wear it cocked to the side. Nice job on first cook. I use a old hair dryer on lowest speed, to speed up my coals. Just don't get close or it will melt.
haha, yea I did that when David came the first time doing steak on the kettle. I used the hair dryer and it got a little too close. Still has battle scars. lol
You broke her in right Phil! I can tell you love that grill already!! That was one hot fire for sure! Loved the funnies too....Toby in the window!! Happy Thanksgiving to y'all up there!!
Hey Rob, that Toby. Jack's don't stop or quit until they get what they want. lol Janet had put him out on the porch due to her mom and aunt being inside. Toby can be kind of annoying to them getting up on the back of their chair in the den and messin with their hair, then his 20 lbs crawing all over them. He is a womanizer. lol Thanks for watching. I'm looking forward to doing some fun cooks on this new cooker.
The kamado is working great for you Phil! Definitely turned out some perfect medium rare Ribeyes. A good side salad and potato too, you're set. How much is that doggie in the window, hah hah. Hope you guys have a fantastic Thanksgiving!
Phil, those ribeyes look perfect! I seemed to have missed my invite for supper ! Maybe next time ? Lol . Great cook PIF and JIF ! I hear TIF was wanting some too !
Hey Kent, yea everybody got satisfied that evening. I'm sorry you missed it. Had one leftover. Must have been yours. Don't worry, me and Jif took care of it Sunday night. LOL Thanks for watching Buddyro
That’s a nice looking cooker. Will it tolerate briquettes without impacting the ceramics? I’ve always heard you should only use lump in a kamado style cooker bc the pores in the ceramic will absorb the lighter fluid flavor that’s built into the briquettes. Or did you use the all natural briquettes that don’t have that? Always love your work. Please send me one of those steaks.
Hey CM, I used Kingsford Premium and it was contained in the Stainless Steel Slow N Sear charcoal basket. I have not heard about charcoal being bad for use in the ceramic cooker. Pretty sure both can be used, but most use the lump which I will use if setup as a standard kamado cook. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy Thanksgiving
Hi PIF :) those are amazing looking steaks! I think you should decorate all of your grills/smokers for Christmas :) You have so many ! So many accessories too ! Hat looks great :) Could you have a better outcome...come on that looks amazing !!
Hey there Mel. Thanks so much for the kind comments. It is time to decorate and throw up some Christmas Lights. Those steaks were awesome too. Thanks for watching, and Happy Thanksgiving
The easy spin feature is nice. Toby must have wanted some he doesn’t make a racket when your using other pits. Steaks 🥩 looked good, Im interested to see how much coal is left.
That little monkey wanted in to crawl all over Janet's mom and her aunt. He does it every time. She didn't realize I was videoing. Oh well. That was one hot fire. No problem searing those steaks. Lots of coals left. I snuffed it out of course.
Thanks for the video. I just tried to use mine for the first time & they sent me a defective Slow-N-Sear insert. It’s too tall & isn’t round. Won’t fit under the rotating grate-at least 1/4” too tall. Extremely disappointed. Have $90 in 1-1/2” thick prime ribeyes in the sous vide and ready for a sear.
I noticed that too. There is some room to slide the SNS out away from the edge as much as you want or need.. Only do this couple times a month. Next time I'll use this trick to prevent the hot fire from being hard against the gasket. Should be fine. Thanks for watching and the comments.
Phil, another great cook! Thanks for sharing your new “toy” :-). That said, did the steaks taste appreciably better using the Kamada vs what you have been able to produce on the Kettle or modified WSM using the SnS?
No, pretty much the same experience. It's just a nice feature for sns kamado owners to be able to use this method also since that is one of the features of the cooker. Thanks
