Snuff Out the Light (Fan-made Animatic) 

With a big musical number like this no wonder Kuzco knew about her secret lab

Not gonna lie, disney could easily make a new movie using this song. Like the original song, no real changes. Maybe the movie could follow a group of treasure hunters looking for a lost treasure in peru, they find hints leading them to machu picchu. Where through some clumsy misstep, they would fall down a trapdoor, or hidden shaft *Maybe as a reference to emperor's new groove, but just a reference.* Said shaft would lead them to an underground city, populated by people in cloaks, and masks. But one person without a mask would greet them, a beautiful young woman *Voiced by Cree Summer, who has voiced some characters Eartha Kitt did.* The group members would become suspicious over time, noting how NONE of the people seem to be eating or drinking except for their guide. Seemingly robotic in movements. Their guide would lead them to their quarters to rest. After one of the members wakes up in the middle of the night and takes a short walk, they would be led by one of the masked populous through some of the oldest parts of this city, where they would see items in the hallways, from stuff you'd except in an ancient city, to things you'd least expect. Modern items, cameras, cell phones, modern clothes, etc. Afterwards they would be on a balcony of sorts overseeing an area of the underground city that shines moonlight in at night, which is where they would see their original guide. Who would start talking to some unknown entity about their coming plan, being asked again why they want to do it. Then this song would be their answer after they say "As always my answer will always be this:". After this the one person would probably try to get back to their friends, trouble ensues. Basically she not only used mummification techniques, but also STOLE life from those who find the city, or get lost while traveling in peru. Then of course have the movie be totally DEDICATED to Eartha Kitt, and maybe other dead actors. Like hide them in the movie proper, as either references in items, to character designs.

Yzma is the most fun Disney villain but with a backstory like this she is also the most profoundly sad. A user on another animatic mentions how the 'Sun' ties to the original plot of the movie because the Emperor and the son of the Emperor (the kid we know as Kuzco) was the literal thief of her life because she had to care for him and guide him and stuff. She wants to take her anger out on the sun because she was robbed of the one she should've lived because of the Sun's descendants/physical forms (the Emperor and now-Kuzco). I think we can all regret losing our youth to forces out of our control. Yzma, you've always been beautiful... and always able to leave an impression.

Anyone else really wished we could've seen the original story for the Emperor's New Groove

I’m glad artists are giving this song some justice. It’s such a powerful song and it deserves the shadowy spotlight.

One of my favourite aspects of this plot was the double-meaning of sun/son. Since as the emperor, Kuzko was supposed to be the avatar of a sun god, and it's implied the stress of basically raising him is what took Yzma's looks and pulled her away from her studies.

So many details in this i love. The consuming shadow, the reappearance of that one cadaver, the cracking moon mural and scratched sun one, the knife twirl transition-

Man you really delivered on this! You and SaveDisk have both made really great visuals for this little gem of a song. In the span of a month we've gone from having 0 animatics for this song (that properly feature the right characters) to having 2! Savedisk's video has some stunningly detailed stills and he does well integrating the original clips, but he also gets lazy every once in a while, whereas your work, which also has some great stills (like the entrance in the beginning), has a much more consistant quality. Additionally, it's clear that your animatic was also inspired by the original clips, but you did well in giving it your own spin by focusing more on the shadow theme. All in all, splendid work! I'm glad I remembered to check in on this!

This is so incredible! For me is has always been a shame that they cut this song out of the final version and this animatic really justifies the potential it had. Also, amazing work with the shadows is original, creative and cool at the same time.

I love this!😆 This is now the 2nd full storyboard of Snuff Out The Light I've found so far (the 1st one being SaveDisk's). I like that you designed Yzma differently and gave the whole song your own visuals instead of trying to match the existing storyboards. I like that technique too, but I haven't seen an animatic with all original art until today so it feels refreshing.

I loved this song, as both a massive Disney and music fan it always made me somewhat sad this didn’t see the light of day. But this animation here does all I could ever hope to get out of the song. 10/10

dude, this absolutely rocks! my favourite details have to be the way the shadow morphs at 3:15, that's some really high quality work and really inventive! i love the way the hooded figures move and express themselves, it's very evocative of the themes, and the visual of the shadows bleeding into everything was really well-animated! huge kudos for finishing this off! :D

I would love it if they made a movie or series where there is a menagerie of villains against a single hero. One would be the Necromancer, who would sing this song. Then the Merchant who would sing biggering and be more of a tragic villain then anything.

Aaaaaah! This is so amazing! I learned about Kingdom of The Sun from a documentary some months ago, and the premise was so glorious! Then I heard this song for the first time and thought it was a real shame nothing was done with it. So thank youuuuu! Snuff Out the Light needs more love! 💘

WHYS NOONE TALKING BOUT HOW GOOD UR ANIMATIC IS? like ive seen some, and tbh the majority looks more like a bunch of cool pictures thrown together, but yours is soo smooth its really impressive. the transitions, the flow of figures in scenes, even the positoning of the "camera" is so good in ur animatic it can EASILY be turned into an impressive full animation. i wish i could animate or draw at least so I could animate ur animatic and give u recognition u deserve, but still I want u to know that u did an impressive job and i really hope more people see how talented u are! ty for this masterpiece!!!!
