Oh dear the talking through walls got me thinking of Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead about these horrible alien monsters that would mimic the last words of people that they killed, so you would hear the words of people calling for help only to come across a monster.

The sense of smell is extremely niché, but god damn if it doesn't become relevant at the strangest moments. I remember playing with the World of Warcraft mod and I played some warrior that went to curb the Fel Orks from taking over the easter islands. You know it's fucking bad, when you enter a cave and you perfectly smell "blood" in deep red text and as you round the corner you see 150 fucking Cave Toads and 1 Dreadlord. My computer fucking died and it took like 4 seconds to process a single tick, but it was cool nontheless, I died shortly afterwards - which is a lot less surprising.

It would be awesome if they add Emotional portraits, A facial expression based on how the person is feeling, pain, anger, fear, etc.

Adventure mode has come a looooong way since the first betas. This is great and all but I am really happy with the tweaks and features to fortress mode that adventure mode is bringing.

I accidentally a fire breathing eight legged stereo pod into my fortress last night through an unlocked door into the caverns I made for gems. The beast is currently locked in a stairwell between two hastily erected walls.

The feature I'd like the most for Fortress mode would be an option to sort bins. Sometimes a bin has stuff that I don't want in that stockpile anymore, but the dorfs don't seem to simply take those items from the bins and haul them to an appropriate stockpile. I wish we had a "sort it" button. I wonder if a mod has it.

They had to make hunting easier after taking away the free meal that was yodelling mountain goats I guess

I'm really excited to see these adventure mode updates and the direction they're going.

I hope adventure mode gets fleshed out more in the future.

Hopefully after completing whatever is left in adventure mode, Tarn will finally take on a romantic relationship in adventure mode. It's very strange to see a lustful and romantic yet asexual adventurer

given all the visual updates I was thinking that I would really REALLY want a mod that hits "." or "," to skip time automatically if the player is not entering any input for a specific amount of time only to disable and reset that timer if you do click something. Sometimes I just want to sit around in a tavern or a library in adventure mode and do nothing but watch what is happening around me

Thank god for the audio crash being fixed. It happened to me while I was Extremely High and my first thought wasn't "Oh, a bug" it was "mountain's haunted." Hilarious in hindsight though. Muting the ghosts did not save my framerate, lol.

I really like these update videos, they make all the information available much more digestible and fun.

The main reason why you wouldn't want to use the public beta is because its incompatible with DF Hack unfortunately

Are they ever going to bring back map memory to adventure mode? It was extremely useful but if they can't figure out a way to get it to work I suppose that's just how it is

Is swapping weapons still tedious? That is what made me just decide to never touch the mode again, well either that or my inability to find out the easy way to do so.

That title got me, ngl lol. Good to hear Adventure Mode is close to being up to date! I do want try the Chosen character start, just to get some ideas of how to play though

I captured some Rutherers and want to be able to build some armor for them and my dogs

The 'smells' thing at the end made me think of the tracker scene from the Your Highness movie

1:19 Beytahs. And yeah, I’ve been noticing more crashing in Adventure Mode on the beta branch. Also, I’m glad that we have full customization for personality again, but I agree that the UI feels more like a placeholder for the sake of getting it into the game for now, which is fine for me personally. Although, I’d definitely like to see it get cleaned up in the future as someone who prefers more Adventure Mode play versus Fortress Mode. That all being said, I’m personally not a big fan of visible groups on the world map. Feels a bit more gamey. I would prefer something like that to be tied to tracking, like if the group has recently been in the area or is large enough you maybe get a temporary level of visibility for where they are and where they’re likely headed and maybe even a tooltip for the estimated size of the group at a certain level of tracking when you hoover your mouse over the group on the map, but I suppose that’s just me. Again, I gave them 1 to 3 months to wrap up Adventure Mode at a minimum. We’re right on schedule for that by the looks of things since it’s been a little over a month. Overall though, in spite of the crashes and my personal gripes, 21 & 22 are excellent updates to the game! Looking forward to us finally getting out of beta with Adventure Mode in the near future! Edit: Slight tweaks to the comment for clarity.
