Not impressed by this song. So happy you gave props to Divine though, LOVE that album!!! Give me old school originality by any thrash band. Born in 67 and have been blessed to have grown up listening and seeing bands when EVERYTHING was new and groundbreaking. REALLY takes an INCREDIBLE new song that's worthy of listening to over and over, I'm sure you get what I mean.
Never really been a Kerry King fan.. I've always been more on team Lombardo. However I'm very fond of Slayer. I miss deeply the classic Slayer lineup RIP Hanneman. Kerry's new band is..... okay. That's about it. Sounds a bit Slayer-ish but .... hahaha. It's just okay. Feels like a Slayer cover band writing new music.
I think your comment on it sounding like a World Painted Blood track nailed it for me. Like one of your other comments mentioned, it just sounds like shadow Slayer, heck, even the singer is trying to sound like Tom Araya! Nothing wrong with the song, just seems a bit strange, Slayer, but with just Kerry there, or perhaps it's just me.
You would think after several decades of slayer basically making the same record he'd step outside his comfort zone but nah we got a record that sounds like a lost slayer album....yawn
I don't get you guys you claim to be Slayer fans but your dissing on his music what did you expect it was going to sound like? I'm a big Slayer fan but you got to admit it was getting a little boring. This to me sounds better than the last couple of Slayer albums and it refreshing to hear this music from Kerry King and his line up members. The singer is off the hook and Paul, Phil and Sanders are doing what they do best and that's play fucking metal so fuck you haters this still kicks ass.
Meh.... it's aight. Has the classic Kerry gallop. The bridge is cool. The screamo is good, if you like screamo. At least you can decifer some of the lyrics. Low technique blast beat that with no originality and it lacks interest. Has less bass than And Justice For All.
I’m always curious to see what band members do after calling it quits. The song is cool in parts but the lyrics don’t appeal to me. They’re not aggro enough, not eeeeevil enough. When compared to divine intervention and earlier, this song wouldn’t even feature. In fairness it would take an act of force majeure to reach the heights of those earlier albums. IMHO
I honestly don't care for this. It's run of the mill sh*t. And it's a f*cking shame that King has one of the BEST Thrash Metal vocalists of all time trying to sound like Tom Araya.
It's been over for a while. GHUA is the last acceptable Slayer, and Kerry owns being a one trick pony. Way over produced sound, not the Paul I remember, vocals are aggressively too Slayer.
He's actually one of the best vocalists in Thrash Metal (Death Angel's singer) but King has him trying to sound like Tom Araya. Check out Death Angel if you really want to hear what he can do.
