So, I Finally Played Monster Hunter World For The First Time... 

Its fun watching someone enter the series of monster hunter. My best advice, try all of the weapons. See what is a good fit for your play style and what's fun to use. If you learn the game, it is very satisfying. Good luck

its actually way cooler than I thought

Always nice to see a new hunter join the ranks. One tip I have if you'd let me is set up an item loadout with the bare minimum (Mega pots, antidotes, nulberries, etc) of whatever you want. That way when your pockets get full from gathering while on hunts you can just reequip the one you made as opposed to going in and removing each item individually. You can update that item loadout as you progress to make things easier going forward. A side note to that is set up your item wheel along side that loadout and learn to use it instead of cycling through the list.

Monster Hunter World is the 5th game of the main line of monster hunter games, and Monster Hunter Wilds that comes out next year will be the 6th and most likely largest game of the franchise as it will be the first main monster hunter game planned for release on PC. All other previous installments were made for console, hence the awkward movement for keyboard and mouse, though I personally think it plays better on keyboard but that is probably because I just prefer keyboard over controller anyways. The armor you are using is a set added with the DLC, but for some reason it is unlocked with the base game alone, but the purpose of the armor is to act as a sort of training wheels for new players to speed through the main game to reach the DLC. It makes the game feel awkward as you start out super powerful and get to the DLC where things get harder and you become less powerful as there is no more training wheels. I would suggest to play with it now though, as reaching the end game is more fun and in my opinion, more important with the new game releasing in 2025 so you probably won't spend a ton more time on the old game as the new one is expected to be the better balanced and polished version of that game. I will say I am super disappointed that you didn't check out other weapons in the game bc while the greatsword is super cool and does a lot of damage, there are so many unique weapons with such different play styles that usually people have to try 4-5 different weapons before they find the right fit

I don't think it was mentioned by your chat but the defender armor (and weapon) is a "High Rank" armor added later to the game to help returning players speed through "Low Rank" and access the DLC quicker when they started new games or swap game platforms. So yes, it's defense is significantly higher and the skills it has are very good. After you get used to the controls and User Interface a bit more I'd recommend swapping for an armor you create from monster parts so you can get a better feel for how the game was actually balanced. Plus the monster armors look cooler. Edit: For example I'm fairly certain you would have died at the 1:27:47 mark when the TRex monster (Anjanath) hit you 3 times in a row but you only lost 1/4 of your health instead.

No health bars in Monster Hunter. You will see signs if they get weak or die soon.

Monster hunter has been lit since ps2 - if you haven't played any at all you definitely should! They have come a long way! Great with friends and very challenging late game

Welcome hunter....welcome to the hunt of your life 😂😢😂 mh games are usual brought out in two phases. 1st the basw game and then the dlc. The dlc is pretty much its own game. The base game covers low rank to high rank and the dlc is usual g rank but with new mh game they changed it to master rank.
