Don't forget the Edgewood Arsenal tests for a less (not non) malicious example from the military proper. Pretty sure you can still find the footage of US soldiers on a march under the influence of LSD on RU-vid
Correct me if I'm wrong but plenty of militaries still use forms of meth, though more as stimulants to avoid tiredness rather than nazi pseudoscience stuff.
@@TrinSpin Frank Zappa's dad worked there, there's clips of Frank warning people to be careful with LSD as it was "developed as a weapon", possibly paraphrased.
My great grandfather was a paratrooper who dropped into Normandy. He often told me about all the soon to be dead memes he could see in France. He told me he stayed with a German soldier that was dying and his last words were "dayum Daniel, arararararar"
I can still hear myself laughing incoherently at my squad as fart cannons exploded all around us, the trollface shrapnel ripping through our marksman like he was made of paper. He died before he ever even fired one Windows Log-Off from his rifle.
If you got this mod into in VR and alternate between playing it for four hours and spending four hours in a Sensory Deprivation Tank, you’d probably reach a point of human apotheosis
When I first played the D-Day mission in MOH Allied Assault, it was probably the most intense and theatrical thing I've ever seen. The stressed soldiers, the intense gunshots and bombs splashing the water around us made for a very realistic and immersive scene, the kid me could barely handle. This mod singlehandedly took a fat dump all over that
Yeah, it felt like gaming couldn't get any better (and frankly, maybe it hasn't). The VR MoH recreates the mission how I remember it. It was like beaming nostalgia right into your eyes.
So for those of you that have played Allied assault you might be wondering why this cuts straight to D-Day. Unfournately I left the in game music on for the first half of this stream, meaning the already busy sound scape was additionally screwed up by ever present orchestral music. I made the decision to cut straight to D-Day (the point where I decided to turn off in game music) and splice in some of my comments from earlier on in the stream. This does make this video a bit more faux than usual but it's pretty much the only way I could salvage a video from this stream. There was a LOT more to this mod that was shown here.
The fact that there was a huge amount of effort and time put into this (replacing textures, sounds and what not) is menacing and the guy who made the mod is ,IMO, a menace to society. Edit: This mod is sacrilege
@@Vulgar_Worlock There is way too much planned texture placement like books saying "HOW TO BE VERY FAT!". It is also teh same dude who did RTCW stupidity and it also has pre planned texture replacements. I believe he actually took a lot of time to create this mess.
"Our forefathers, fought their way up the beach of Normandy, sacrificing their lives for us... and then... 70 Years later... some dude was like... LUL!" That genuinely gave me a splitting headache from a laughing fit.
This mod has tarnished an icon of gaming purity and all of the memories I had associated with it. With the exception of getting my rear end handed to me over the course of the Sniper Town level, never had I looked on Allied Assault with anything other than the fondest admiration and nostalgia. I could never think of this game and not be happy or wishful for a time long past. Until now. I know Medal of Honor: Allied Assault so well that even with this mod, I could recognize entire levels I haven't played in years... and perhaps that made it worse for I could imagine perfectly what was, before it was defiled. Watching gameplay made me recoil, made my heart hurt in a way I did not even realize it could. The heroics of soldiers liberating occupied France and the iconic equipment they used all soiled with horrors beyond my comprehension. Now, when I think of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault... some part of me will think of this. Despite my best efforts, I doubt I can expunge this from my brain. This is not Jolly's fault- he is merely a war correspondent chronicling horrors that make viewers quake in their seats as they watch from the comforts of their couches. He is the bravest of us to bring us this knowledge... but if we wished to have faith in this world, it is not knowledge we should have. But I cannot unsee what has been seen. Part of our collective gamer soul has perished today. Let us play Taps and mourn its preventable loss. There is no hope for us as a species, is there?
ngl this was horrible....watching this while having high fever and painmeds out of this world....really made me think i was going insane and needed to get inside some extremely soft room that has locked door and no ways to escape...5/5
yeah he slapped a bunch of memes that were unfunny even at the time, and added some of the honest to god most ear grating sound effects ove ever heard onto a game Great developer material!
Thanks for bringing back the full subtitles for this one, because the mod certainly wasn't going to let you be audible over itself. Also for anyone about to say "oooh, Jolly should try Cruelty Squad!", he did. It didn't mesh.
11:56 I imagine it smells like a chuck-e-cheese mixed with actual war. The smell of freshly cleaned vomit, stale pizza and root beer left on the tables, the weird toxic smelling plastic of the play tubes, as well as sulfur from explosions and dead bodies. We are all grateful to not smell the mod.
I feel like sometimes you pick these games with a zeal like, as if the KGB asked for volunteers to try new torture methods on, and you're like the first person in line and the first signature on the page
I love the whimsical classical music playing over the top of all of this. Really elevates this mod from the ninth circle of Hell to the eighth circle of Hell.
Even through sheer, raw hell in the form of a mod, you still execute what i think it is the best commentary in any YT channel. Constantly clever, always patient, never losing your personal touch. My favorite youtuber.
This, Portal Epic Edition, and the Rimmy and Warpugs video are the last 3 videos I've seen from Jolly, and they've all been pure fucking gold. Thank you 😂
This reminds me of that time I had a needle stuck into my big toe to numb it before having an ingrown toe nail removed. That was the most painful experience of my life, I nearly passed out from it, this was close. Can't wait for part 2.
I need to be asleep so I can do my work well-rested. But I see a Jolly upload with one of my favorite games of all time. I regret ever clicking on this video. Thanks, Jolly.
This feels like being a weirdly functional, fully delusional psychotic schizophrenic with shellshock storming Normandy while having the most massive manic episode known to man. Great content.
As horrifying as this is to watch, this makes me wish that MOH: Frontline and MOH: Rising Sun were on steam. Loved playing those as a kid and wish Medal of Honor had a better outcome than what is has...
Between this and those old Animutations from the Flash era, what impresses me most is the sheer amount of thought and effort that went into finding all the pictures that were used and deciding how best to use each of them. Like, the majority of the textures are not things that people would naturally think of as actually funny, and that matters because you can't actually have every single thing competing for your attention. Even in a mod this visually busy, some of it has to be less busy than the rest and kind of fade into the background. What I'm saying is I _wish_ I could be this creative.
Can I just say, thank you for that intro before the gameplay. I'd been listening to a movie on VLC player but the audio was jank so I'd put my volume to 100 to even remotely hear it. Your loud booming voice in my ear made me realized I'd left it so high up, inadvertently saving my hearing from this ungodly shitshow of a mod. So thanks, Jolly. You saved me having to learn sign language.
Oh yes the historically accurate Bikini Bottom Acid Trip. It's also described as the Aimo Koivunen experience according to my friend after he shared this tidbit: "As Aimo later recalled in a memoir, the next several days were a blur during which he was on the move near-constantly and suffered a series of vivid hallucinations. At one point he recalled speaking with friends from back home, he also spent a night skiing towards what he thought was a lit cabin on the horizon which turned out to be the North Star, he also fought a wolverine that turned out to be a tree branch."
i watched/played this game with my father when i was young, i have so many good memories playing this, trying to get all the medals and trying to finish the game (i wasnt able to get through sniper town), this game was my childhood, right next to battlefield 2. watching this is.. i dont know.. i-i.. cant. watching this has broken me.
