Forts is a physics-based RTS where foes design and build custom bases, arm them to the teeth and blast their opponent's creations to rubble.
Build an armoured fort in real-time and arm it to the teeth. Collect resources, develop your tech-tree, unlock advanced weapons to target your opponent's weak points, and feel the satisfaction as their fort comes crashing down.

This is just MEAN. The infinite APM is crazy. And the fact that youre able to make an AI to fight a player is concerning for the limited Ranked mode that we have.

yes. This. If the opponent knew they where fighting an AI, ok, but if not, that AI will cause many people to quit. DO NOT RELEASE THE AI. it is cruel and unfair. I used to like and support your content. this is a strong mark against.

I think it should be named AlphaCore, like AlphaStar fron starcraft and AlphaZero from chess. It plays similarly to AlphaZero from chess, Aggressive and ballsy, And restricts its opponent's movements, like what the AI did, pressuring with mortars early on and not allowing counterplay.

Infinite APM is already really hard to beat (altough not impossible). No the real challenge is how it never misses. If even the tiniest pixel is exposed it will get sniped. Which is especially dangerous against mortars which are relativly hard to aim (normally) and relativly easily defended against (unless you get sniped).

I've been studying neural networks and the solutions they come up with on self-based learning are just awesome. May I know if this AI is a neural network or just an algorithm and how does it take information? Also a nerf such as human-like reaction times to events is more appropriate, but that's arguable because with extreme dedication people can refine their skill to such levels.

The ai is made from a pre recorded base, and then it attacks significant targets. If the base gets too mangled then the ai is unable to repair due to the nodes having shifted.

This is just an algorithn that has a pre-set base or builds and then targets things that are designated significant. Because of that, it doesn't need really nerfs, but rather a strategy that would effectively soft lock it, as the near infinite APM means that there is no way to directly overcome it's defences, but constantly shooting an exposed weapon or structure will cause the AI to replace that weapon infinitely, with you just shooting it instantly again, the resources taken up by this mean that the AI can't fire weapons or build other structures, but it just concentrates on replacing the weapon. It's a tad boring but it is a very valid strategy

Honestly base on the progress the ai made on this map it looks like the best way to defeat it is to just cannon rush and start destroying it's things as it seems that the ai is not keen on building defenses for their weapons

After watching this AI's birth for 10hrs; 2 matches is woefully insufficient to fulfill my need for Forts content and the destruction of random internet denizens. I still think a forced takedown of the middle only accelerates the AI. Argument, "I can't force the AI to target the middle." Counter Argument, "when you tried building lasers, they targeted the enemy core, and in turn, had to destroy the middle to get to it. So place a battalion of miniguns in line with the flat armor and the enemy core, they will accidentally cut into that barrel after breaking the flat armor and assist the win. Build them up from the dangle expansion so they don't shoot above the mortar teams

Honestly, my biggest issue with this is the infinite APM. Everything else can be adapted to to some extent, but infinite APM is insanely powerful and not something a human can replicate to any extent. It would be way more interesting if the bot was limited to, say 75 APM, broken down into actions per second, since a human can probably hit close to that with enough practice. Also, letting the opponent know they're up against an AI is something you should probably be doing.

I have two names, a pirated one and an original. "Offensive bias" (a nod to halo) as it fights back the swarms of enemies and is less talented than the original or "the incursions spear" as it can spearhead your attacks without you spending much time worrying. I don't think you will give your ai these names but the input was fun 😊

This reminds me of the Deep Blue-Kasparov match in chess. I think it should be named similarly as an homage, because a bunch of stuff will probably come out of this AI alone. Or, name versions like that of AlphaZero or Stockfish. Some like "Fleet Bronze", "PsiFour" or other variations.

*This is NOT OK against other human players.* (it could be ok with limited capabilities, like a human, give it an average human action per minute & some randomness in the aiming). It COULD be ok as a challenge, like the AI spawns in the middle & 2 - 4 other players surrounds it & their goal is only to defeat the AI (and maybe later defeat each other?)

Nice improvements since the last stream. Swarm missiles look like a good idea, with sniper and the little blob where you don't want to put a mine. Feels obvious after the fact. Have you ruled out the smoke launchers entirely ?

If this is the first AI that you have built I would call it Harbringer or Herald. Then subsequent AI's could be named after variations of bringers of the apocalypses or based on idioms around war/conquest. I am thinking an AI named Famine that specializes in directly targeting the economy over and over, or Pride who is specialized for hanging maps because "pride comes before a fall"
