I'm 29, grew up with halo on Xbox since 2003 and hearing you say stuff like : " I dont know anyone IRL that plays Halo games " or " It's not true in the end that shooter games make you violent " and " that Halo is less known for its campaigns " blows my mind haha ... I find it wild because Halo is probably the franchise with the most impact on my life ( along with star wars in close second ). I will echo the other people in the comments, do yourself a favor and play the campaigns in release order. Lots of people do it on RU-vid and one of my favourite things to do right now is watch them all discover what I love most for the first time ( cause I cant anymore ) Let the story bring you what it brought me as a child and have fun. As I grow older, I find that stories, and good ones, are precious and shape you in more ways that you realise. They are few and far between nowadays, Halo's story is timeless and you would enjoy it I'm sure of it.
I meant that I didn’t know anyone IRL who played Halo Infinite and same with the campaign. I know a lot of the other ones are know for their campaigns. Also I’m seeing that a lot of people want me to do the campaigns so eventually I’ll do a series for 10 campaign/story based games. Will be a while til it comes out because I’ve already recorded all the games for this series of shooter games tho
yea, newer Halo games like infinite, halo 4, and especially "Halo" 5, have realy bad campaigns. Infinite less so, but Halo 2, 3, Reach, ODST, even Combat Evolved were great.
Huh interesting. Unfortunately I've already recorded all the footage for this series, I just have to edit it, so I guess its too late. But don't worry I play at least one campaign game
@@SharpShaBoom8if you ever play halo games campaigns in the future. it's better to start with halo combat evolved (aka halo 1) than halo 2 , 3 , odst, 4,5 and then infinite. Since, the story is one of the main things in the halo games and you will definitely love it.😊😊😊
As an OG Halo enthusiast who doesn't really play any other games, this video was really heart-warming for me to watch. It was great to hear your thoughts on experiencing Halo & shooter games for the very first time. I fell in love with Halo CE & Halo 2 on the original xbox, but had a 10 year gap when I left home at 18. A few years ago I decided to get myself an xbox, the Master Chief Collection, Halo 5 & Halo Infinite. I didn't realise how out of practice I was at first, so seeing your gameplay before and after was incredibly relatable; and was with anything, practice makes perfect. As others have said, you would really do yourself a favour by playing all of the Halo campaigns in release order; the first 4 games are brilliant, Halo 4 is different but interesting, and whilst it failed to meet it's potential, the Halo Infinite campaign is still fun, and it's multiplayer is easily the best online experience Halo has to offer. Enjoy the rest of your FPS journey, and I hope that Halo finds a special place in your heart!
Yay glad you enjoyed it! I like seeing people’s stories behind there gaming so thanks for the comment and yeah probably eventually will do the campaigns in a separate series
I love seeing new people get introduced to Halo, it is one of my favourite franchises ever of all time. hope you do the campaigns sometime and if you do, ply them in release order. otherwise great vid! you earned a sub from me.
it depends on whether you value multiplayer or campaign more. Going into this I valued multiplayer more so I chose to play more multiplayer games than single player
With Halo really should have started with campaigns starting with CE. Most of the classic shooters had a campaign that was the focus of development with Multiplayer being a tacked on extra. After internet took over Multiplayer took more focus, Halo got its start in pre-internet days but it also jumpstarted X-Box live with Halo 2 so it hit a sweet spot in the main Trilogy where both received full attention. Also Story Wise Halo took a nose dive when it changed hands, A lot of people love Halo 4 but it changed a lot from Halo 3, and almost everyone hated H5 campaign. Infinite's campaign was received with a 'meh'. overall the 343i games have been accepted about as well as the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and are pretty much only held up because they still got a multiplayer to fall back on.
@@SharpShaBoom8 Also some advice for older games particularly back when everything was physical disks the games came with manuals many of which you were expected to read before playing. If getting into older games look up a pdf of the original manual for full experience.
I think you'd have alot of fun in halo 2, 3, and Halo 3 ODST's campaign, they're very fun games, and I even do like infinite's campaign, gameplay wise, it's one of the less great Halo games.
@@SharpShaBoom8 if you want a tip you should try half life 2 or the remake for the first game called black mesa they are Story based shooter games that have a Mix of Puzzles and Player v enemy gameplay they are beloved and known in the gaming community
Changing your fov (if possible) in shooter games will make you play better because it will make you able to see more things on the screen for source games like CS2 and TF2 change your fov to 90 and in other game source games (like Portal or half-life 2 and its episodes) where its not in the settings then in the console type "fov_desired 90”
As a 30 year old who played Halo CE at the ripe age of 8 and grew up with one of the biggest most influential games of the era. Its nice to see younger peoole discover it and give it a go. As everyone else says, you NEED to play the campaigns for sure. All the campaigns minus 5 are good. As a community we shun Halo 5 from existance, some will say the MP was the best its been since 3 and Reach, others shall we say PURISTs , HATE AND I MEAN VICERAL HATRED for everything about 5. The reason you know noone who plays infinite is bc well no ones does, it barely pulls 7K players.
Really cool video and concept. A video about your experience with the Halo campaigns will be even better because you have a unique perspective and experience. I think you'll like Halo 2's campaign in particular.
This is a great video man! Your editing is surprisingly good! I just want to say 2 things 1. Please give the Master Chief Collection campaigns a chance! It'll be VERY rough going from Infinite to Combat Evolved/2 but I promise you it'll be worth it. I'd recommend playing CE, 2,3,ODST, then Reach if you do since Reach is a prequel. Most find CE super confusing but the struggle is worthwhile. Side note: there is significantly more violence in the campaigns than the multiplayer, especially CE-3 where some body horror stuff happens. I'd tell you more but I don't want to spoil anything 2. If you haven't already started Counter Strike, be careful. With Halo the fun is in the gameplay - blowing things up, driving off cliffs, wacky guns etc. not as much winning or losing. With games like CS or Valorant the majority of the fun happens when you win
Thanks! And also I’ve already played all 10 games for this series. (That’s why it’s been a year, I’ve been recording footage and writing all the scripts in that time) but I think I will do 10 campaign/story driven games because so many people say I should do the Halo campaigns.
Been seeing a lot of people talk about Halo and its campaign, infinite itself and modern halo is not as known for its campaign sure, but I will preface that by saying that it is among the newer audience that Halo is not known for its campaign. I am sure others have said it plenty in other comments but Halo WAS campaign when it launched and while Halo 2 brought with it online multiplayer it was still known for its stellar campaign. Halo 2 itself was one of the largest media releases of its time as well as Halo 3 being right up there with 2 as being the conclusion of the Master Chief's story. Halo 1 had a great story even though it was light in cutscenes and story elements just due to the era it released in (fun fact, Halo 1 was the first game that standardized the modern FPS control scheme.), 2 was made like a movie and was advertised like a playable movie, and Halo 3 was the conclusion to that saga. The thing that put Halo on its pedestal was its campaign and its 'ahead of its time' multiplayer as Halo 3 and Reach brought the file share system and the social elements that are still tough to get right today. But primarily its campaign and story is what cemented Halo in gaming history. I highly recommend checking out the story modes for the original games, even if you don't do a video on them, the MCC is worth going trough in chronological or release order, though it is important to note that the first Halo was made in 2k1 so it has to be played with that mindset going in as a lot of the levels show signs of their age just in the design philosophy going in. Everything every is hard art though, not that CE isn't but everything after is made with more modern design philosophy in mind.
yeah I only meant that Halo Infinite isn't known for its campaign unlike the rest of the franchise that is. Also I'll probably do a 10 campaigns/story driven games series because its too late for this series
@@SharpShaBoom8 Yeah no I figured that, I had seen you mention the 10 campaign video in other comments after I wrote this one. But yeah I am inclined to agree, while Halo Infinite should have been known for its campaign more than it is, they marketed it as a multiplayer game first, talking about how it is F2P and such which isn't inheritably bad, it is not what Halo players wanted, they primarily wanted a continuation of the story. Not speaking for everyone of course, but I find it more common among the long time fans to want that over the multiplayer, but at the same time not neglecting the multiplayer as a feature. I enjoyed this video a lot and will tune in to when you dive into more story focused aspects of shooters, especially because the zeitgeist focuses primarily on multiplayer nowadays. It just sucks that single player shooters are falling by the wayside when they can have captivating stories as well, ESPECIALLY Halo. Just keep in mind if you go through the Halo games the first one aged the most as far as level design, gameplay, etc, it came out in 2001 so makes sense, H2 has had the most love as of late and is fully remastered, but graphics aside it plays WAY more like a modern shooter than Halo CE, probably because xbox live was just getting started and Halo 2 was the game EVERYONE played online at the time lol.
@@swhaw Good to know. Interesting that you like the story aspect so much. Before this I had never played really a story focused game and actually to me it would seem restrictive. I'm used to games where, for the most part,. you can do whatever you want whenever you want so I never valued story. Thats why for this shooter game series I only played 1 campaign (coming out in a couple weeks) but I truly believe every genre of game has something for everybody so I'm excited to try more. Not sure whether I want to do campaigns or horror games after this tho. I'll probably make a poll
@@SharpShaBoom8 Yeah, I totally understand feeling restricted, the only story games I can think of that aren't as restrictive are things like Bethesda RPGs and things like GTA where you have the options of mission or quests for a more directed experience while also having ree reign of the world the game has to offer. With shooters it is usually more restrictive, and in most cases are linear in their storytelling and level design to push the player to a respective goal. They definitely lack that kinda freedom but that was never what those games were for. That freedom is good but it lacks strong narrative that you get from more linear formats. When you play a game like that then that is what you are going in seeking rather than going in seeking absolute freedom. While those open ended games have a story, it often lacks the depth and character those more focused games portray, The Last of Us is a prime example, a STRONG narrative that wouldn't work in a more open ended format. I grew up in the 90s and experienced games before they could really have a compelling story, and my first real shooter was Halo, and while the story is few and far between compared to what came after, it just hit different at the time. It was literally the first, most of the shooters I experienced before then were things like Goldeneye or Metal of Honor, Goldeneye being loose missions associated with the James Bond franchise and a basic WW2 story. Halo was the first one to introduce me to what could be and what eventually became modern game story telling. It really means a lot, and it is a shame we are on the cusp of people forgetting that, not talking about you specifically but Halo CE remaster was over 13 years ago and it is not as well known how influential it was for game story telling at the time, as well as how it shaped modern control schemes for shooters.
RU-vid randomly recommended this to me. You had some great points in the video. As someone who has played Halo since they were 5, it was fun to hear your takes. The later games - I'd say from Halo Reach onwards - have gotten pretty competitive, so I wouldn't be too harsh on yourself for having a rough time initially. The skill gap can drastically curve once begin to improve even in the slightest. It's gotten to the point where I have to selectively play custom games with some of my friends because the skill gap between myself and them can ruin their experience anymore. As someone who isn't as competitive as they used to be, I understand how frustrating it is to lose match after match. If you ever find the chance, I would highly recommend trying the campaigns out. Beyond the multiplayer, the campaigns have been such a fun experience over time for a lot of folks. Especially if you're looking for a sci-fi experience.
Huh interesting. Yeah probably gonna play the campaigns because so many people say I should. I’ll probably do a 10 campaigns/ story driven games because I’ve already played all the shooter games for this series
All the maps with holes are a noobs worst nightmare lol. Should have tried Husky Raid if you liked Fiesta (and objectives) But keep it up man! Glad you ended up liking the game and hope you find joy in whatever games/genres you end up in 🙂
EXACTLY! go to bot camp first instead of affecting your team in BTB or Husky raid or multiplayer in general. You are a good example of what should be done! I wish more people did the same. This is one of the down sides of halo being free to play game. Great video!
@@SharpShaBoom8 2:40 Soon the great journey shall begin, and when it does. The weight of your heresy will stay at your feet. And you shall be left behind.
This was a good original idea! I enjoyed watching it, the editing was tight and funny! I wonder what would happen if you tried halo on controller, it may be more intuitive than mouse and keyboard. As a long time halo fan and controller player I may be biased haha. For me personally its easier to find buttons on a controller than a keyboard. Anyways, great video and can't wait for the next!
yaaay thanks! and yeah I used to play video games solely on Xbox so I was planning on using a controller for this, but didn't know how to connect it. By now I think I'm much better on keyboard tho
Also if you didn't give them a try you should look up some custom games. not sure what is present in infinite but I know back with 3 and Reach the games got pretty wild, many of them wouldn't even be considered shooters, more like platformers. Also just the memories of syncing up multiple X-Boxes and getting 16+ friends together to play in the same room are wild. Few games allowed for system link and splitscreen the way halo did, and such fun has been largely gone with modern Halos. I think Infinite allows for splitscreen multiplayer now but didn't on launch.
Honestly when it comes to shooters I try not to think of KD ratio. A lot of people use it as a measure for success but games are meant to be fun! So when it comes to these multiplayer experiences, focus less on trying to be "good" but more om enjoying what you're playing. Also please go play the original halo campaigns sometime, they're great with gameplay AND story. Halo Infinite might not live up to the original trilogy but I still think its pretty damn good.
Fair. I expected to be bad so it didn’t really bother me but fair. Also yep I’m probably gonna do campaigns in a separate series because I’ve already played all the games for this series
@@SharpShaBoom8 that's what everyone says but I enjoy halo infinite the most. I did start on reach though so never really played anything before that much.
Welcome to Halo. My lord is it not the best multiplayer in the series though. I beg of you to go back to an older title if you can grasp what something was at the time of release, you’ll likely be surprised as they’re so much better feeling and more polished still.
Yeah I totally didn't forgot you! Can't wait to have people like you in my chat once I started streaming again. Probably won't stream until November or December but the ideas are brewin
Yeah because I was gonna make just a singular video I recorded all the footage before starting to script write or edit 💀 but it does mean I can post probably about every week or 2 weeks for a while
Not sure who told you Infinite has the best MP. It's alright, but compared to most of the other games in the series, it's mid. The campaigns are also a much better place to start than jumping right into MP, especially considering how well-made they are (for the most part). I would also recommend trying out the MP for the older Halos at some point too, but currently MCC is having a pretty bad issue with hackers. There are other ways to play the older Halo MPs, like Project Cartographer for Halo 2 and Sunrise for 3 and Reach, but those definitely take a bit more work to get going. You can at least host private custom games on MCC without any issues.
no, he didn't play the campaign... or read the books, or watch the shows/movies... acctualy, he can skip the show and "movies", but Halo Legends is good, if cannon breaking at times. I know Odd One Out is non-cannon, but some discrepancies happen in Origins II, and others.
lol I don't really know anything about it because I only played multiplayer. I just thought it was funny that I wrote that when I knew almost nothing about it
Imagine supporting halo infinite, The worst game ever made, this game is not worth it 9 years of continuous mediocre developement, Desynced toystory-esque trashy game
