Not only straightening but this style is by far one of the best protective styling! My friends who used to do this a long time ago would have the best luscious hair after takedown but the style itself was never seen as stylish or desirable 😭 Things need to change, lol. You look great!
@@livelovely4681 ooooh, that's a good idea! Would love to see some bantu knots in this style, asethetically I think it'll look nice but maybe the thread might need to be the soft type? The rubber type might be uncomfortable to sleep in. I don't know, just thinking out loud.
This is exactly how i've stretching my hair for years. I leave it on for days when i know i'd be indoor😂. I usually let my hair dry more than yours, oil with Amla, then do this. I make sure to hold hair a bit tight from the roots as well. It stretches like magic😍

This is my regular protective style and I rock my hair proudly here in China. Funny enough, when i was back in Nigeria, some people don't appreciate threading. But now everyone literally loves my threading probably because it is strange to them. P.S. my hair and my daughters' have grown super long because of this hair style😍

I've been wearing thread back to back for 9 months now. I did a BC in December 2020 (6 months post relaxer) and my hair is 12 inches long today. I've never had anything near this growth rate before. Retention with this method is practically 100%.

Totally enjoyed this. I love the idea that you are continuing to discover these creative options. When people say they’re bored with their natural hair, I recommend your channel. So inspiring!
Hi Seun, really good video. I believe the problem may have been threading your hair wet. I’ve done that before and ended up with a matted mess. It’s much better to thread your hair when it’s dry, so that your hair remains aligned after detangling.
So I just recently subscribed to your channel and I’m beyond in love. I cut me hair in April of 2020 shortly after my high school graduation. And my hair definitely been growing and your channel inspire me so much. I cried and struggle the first half of my hair journey with confidence because I didn’t think I could rock short hair but I’m so glad I did because my hair thanks me now.

I've always stretched with yarn/thread because, sis, the stretch it gives is unmatched when compared to braids, twists, etc. I used to wear them out with beads when I was younger (I'm nigerian too, so my mom would often style it that way). My hair breaks with heat, so it's my go to. Anyways, it turned out so good!
Thank you Seun for bringing this to my attention again. A few years ago an hairstylist mentioned stretching my hair with kiko, but I completely forgot about it after braiding my hair. I will definitely try this when I want to braid my hair again😁
I love the wrap, it looks like a style that you can wear to a formal event. Also, the heat-less blowout turned out really amazing. I tried the banding method, but only when my hair was in twists or mini braids. I did try it once with tiny hair bands in smallish sections (without twists or braids) and I only focused on the part when my hair got tangled with the hair bands😅😅. Since then, never tried it again😂😂. I bought some thread, but it's the ones you use to sew down tracks, so I tried African threading with those, and it was a fail( I didn't know how to wrap the thread, so I did my own thing and well, I believe we all know what happened there😂😂).
I don't know if you can get wool/brazilian wool over there, if you can, that could be used as a substitute for the african thread(if you're not able to get it)
Great job Seun! My arms would hurt by the time I’m done with one side. Definitely a better alternative for stretching the hair. Look forward to your next segment 😊.
Exactly!! My arms would really hurt. There is another hairstyle we do here in Cameroon that could stretch hair too. I will film the video today, I really hope it works
You did a good job! I started stretching my hair this way after your video when you got it done in Nigeria. I don’t do it myself, I don’t have the patience lol but I love stretching my hair this way, I usually wear it about a week before unraveling the thread ❤️
@@mousepumpkin7564 she's right. The hairdressers during my childhood traumatized me that much. You can tell your stylist that you don't want the roots to be too tight and also be careful with your edges when doing this style.
@@mousepumpkin7564 to answer the question, you can get 3-7 days worth of headache. If your stylist isn't careful with your hair you might end up getting hair breakage. If you can diy the threading method, it will be better.
@@mousepumpkin7564 well when I was around 8 years old, my sis and I went to make our hair (African threading). I still have no idea how she made it soo tight and we kept on complaining to my mom that same day but my mom ignored us. It was so painful that we started crying and my veins were popping out. My mom gave us permission to loose the hair that same day we made it and my scalp still felt painful to me for some days.
I used to call this helicopter hair when I was a kid. My grandma used to do my hair like this and when it was time to take it down the hair swings around like helicopter blades lol
Your videos never disappoint! 😍This is a great option for people to add to their tool box for heatless styles. Sending you well wishes. Continue to shine and be blessed!
Did this on my hair with sewing thread cus I was desperate to stretch. It was a terrible idea to say the least thank you so much for dropping the link to the right stretch material to use really appreciate it.
WOW! I love the result and I'm totally giving it try. I don't have rubber thread so I'll try with baby wool and hope for a similar result! Thanks for this video.
am jamaican and am wearing that style right now as a protective style... I use that thread that use to sew in hair... I do it in small size it look like twist and bead the ends... really cute
Hi Seun okimi Your hair has grown so much. Please 🙏 can you list the oils and herbs that you're applying to your hair. And please where can I get, fenugreek seeds, in Nigeria.
I dont really use oils or herbs! Growing hair is more about preventing breakage than trying to speed up your hair growth, from my experience. But for me, I've mostly been putting as little manipulation on my hair as possible, and trying to be extremely gentle when I do manipulate it. I also did a protein treatment once because I was experiencing breakage from my hair being too soft at one point, and that helped a lot. I talk about all of these things in more depth in my past videos. But so I would say be gentle, and give it time😊 It's also been almost 3yrs now that I've been growing my natural hair
You're so beautiful 🥰and I really need to know your hair care routine... it's been a year of transitioning now and it's like my hair has remained the same
Thank you! It's ok. I remember it not feeling like too much after a year of transitioning as well. I have been growing my natural hair for almost three years now, so I would say to give it more time. Can you reuse the rubber strings after you take them down? P.S - this looks amazing 👏🏾!!! Looks like a blow out. It is a very good heatless method!!!!!
girl, just put extra virgin olive oil as heat protector and blow dry. u r a new natural and with this kind of 4c hair, heat damage does not occur easily. u will save a lot of time. i also put warm raw organic shea butter before washing my hair which is also a natural heat protector. everything i put in my hair comes from my kitchen most times- rice water rinse, shea butter and olive oil. i rarely use shampoo. i use warm water to thoroughly wash my hair ("no-poo" movement) since am into clean living by reducing chemicals as much as possible.
This is very timely. I want to know where to purchase please. I am now venturing into this. The method looks easier than blowdrying😑. Please post the link for the threads. I appreciate you and this video.
