Man, the "Shadow Stand theory" makes me wish that Shadow Freddy was the main antagonist afterwards instead of Mimic. It's a cool way of bringing back such an underutilized character.
Considering in princess quest that the princess’s shadow somewhat copies yet does the opposite of what the princess does, who’s to say that they’re one in the same? Now maybe they may not..? But with fnaf SB making the princess quest ending canon… it definitely feels like shadow Freddy at the very least could have a big part or will have a big part alongside the mimic, whether they’re the same or the opposite
Y’know, Shadow Freddy being the main antagonist of VR instead of Glitchtrap/Mimic/Old Afton would work better as (if this theory is true) he’s essentially mimic on crack, having seen everything Afton has done, being a spawn of him. Shadow Freddy being the purple arm in the SB trailer also would’ve been a cool plot twist, and a better way of bringing Afton back, without directly bringing him back.

This actually would've been perfect, since Afton should've remained dead after FNAF 6. It would've been a really nice callback to such a seemingly random easter egg, and would've allowed the franchise to go in a more interesting direction with exploring a "new" character rather than just introducing someone completely new only to tell us "haha lol its just afton but woman lmao"
I love the idea of Afton being this obsessive insane villain who has been so broken by BV's death that now his obsession is manifesting in the form of his own Stand. Also more FNAF-JoJo jokes the better.
Fun fact: The mechanic in fnaf 2 that was accidentally broken was supposed to happen with endo-02 aswell if it’s spotted on the cameras in the vents or in prize corner this mechanic has its own specific sound effect that plays when the camera cuts out it’s called metalrun.wav this could mean that shadow Freddy is a physical animatronic.

that is a good point, but that may be referring to the Nightmare IN fnaf UCN. Remember that the animatronics in UCN are all recreations made by the vengeful spirit for the sole purpose of killing william over and over, and these animatronics' states do not always represent the originals' appearances as well. Basically what I mean is, other animatronics in UCN (most notably the other nightmares) talk about how they have also been "remade" - which could indicate the "made of flesh" is purely a trait of UCN Nightmare, now that he has a physical body (remember n. fredbear said "this time, there is more than an illusion to fear") and is able to actually harm his victims. I kinda rambled in this but I hope you see what I mean lmao

I’ve actually heard the theory that the shadows were manifestations of Agony from the different MCI’s; Shadow Freddy being from the 1985 incident and Shadow Bonnie being from the 1987 incident.
I think the other way around would fit better. There is a drawing in FNAF 2 office showing Fredbear with 5 kids. This could imply that Afton killed the 87 kids using the Fredbear costume, while in 85 he used SpringBonnie. That's why in 85 the agony manifestated as a rabbit and in 87 as a bear. I personally don't believe that, tho.
@@Raishuw25 It's less about the murder suits and more about the animatronics generally active at the time. Shadow Freddy is based off of 1985 Freddy or Fredbear, while Shadow Bonnie is based off of Toy Bonnie, a 1987-exclusive animatronic.
Honestly, I've always believed that Shadow Freddy was a dark manifestation of Golden Freddy's anger. We have seen GF can only teleport and the whole "It's Me", but SF has shown the ability to walk around in the 8-bit games which GF cannot do. The Vengeful Spirit being so angry that it creates a dark version of the character it is stuck in would fit what we know about VS.
It definitely seems like princess quest was drilling the idea that any person with enough power (agony or remnant) could create a shadow reflection to aid in their motives. Considering Charlie seemingly has great remnant power (under puppetstuffed), she could be the mirror of RXQ, which would make sense because her nemesis is a bunny like how Afton's is a bear.

I'm ngl I haven't kept up with FNAF lore in quite a while, but I had always assumed the shadow animatronics were just manifestations of the darkness and haunted energy surrounding the pizzeria. Kind of like the posters transforming into crying children images in FNAF 1. They're a "shadow" of William's influence. I suppose that'd fall under Agony now
I always assumed Shadow Freddy is trying to show the animatronics where Afton is hiding so they can kill him. But Afton heard their foot steps since they heavy robots and killed them instead since they can’t enter the safe room
I used to as well, but him saying "follow me" with scott having William say the same and having Henry say "he set some kind of trap" and "he lured them all back to a familiar place" makes me lean more towards it being something helping Afton.

I'm kind of worried that the title might lead people to dismiss this as a joke, because it's a pretty good theory. I don't really like the "Bitemare" part but that's just due to me being too attached to my headcanons about BV's personality. I used to be a believer that all three shadows plus Nightmare and Nightmarionne where the same but now that you mention it Shadow Freddy and RWQFSFASXC really have nothing in common except for glowy eyes and teeth
Here’s a fun idea I had while watching the video, it’s not supported by anything as far as I can tell. During the video I started thinking to myself, “Why is it Freddy though?” And thought that maybe, with the missing children’s incident and the bites (I think at least) being public knowledge, Shadow Freddy could be embodying the general public’s fear, view, or whatever of those events. Thinking of it in that way maybe that’s why in the mini game it lures the animatronics in the same way the original killer lured the children away. As far as I can tell, people don’t know who the killer was, but they do know that it had to have something to do with the Freddy’s location(s). The events that happened are things that the company wants people to forget or move on from, but it’s not something they can really do. So, maybe Shadow Freddy has nothing to do with the character of Freddy, but is instead the “shadow” of Freddy Fazbear’s itself. I doubt that’ll actually be the case, but it’s just a thought I had.
I like to think originally shadow Freddy was a demon that killed the missing children and how he did this was by wearing the outer shell of a worn down golden Freddy as a costume and lured away a single child from everyone and killed them after that he lured away 4 more children and locked them away in the basement of the restaurant until everyone left for the night after that he stuffed the corpse of the original victim inside the gf shell then locked all the exits and released the kids from the basement after that the stuffed gf got cursed by the demon with rage and insanity to kill anyone they see at night and was let loose on the kids afterwards the demon cleaned everything up and stuffed the remains of the 4 children in the 4 animatronics what do you think of this idea :) ???
To me personally, Shadow Freddy has always been a pretty chill shadow figure giving out free conga lines to anyone at Freddy’s. (Objective and true FNAF timeline reference, although William DID bribe him into doing it.)
Some points I wanted to add: There are more shadows! Technically sort of. The weird sprites in the FNAF 3 minigames that show the puppet and BB are apparently shadows too, according to the character encyclopedia. Yeah, that book is BAD, but I dont think it would just invent characters. Also, I really doubt there were any plans for the shadows in FNAF 2. That game is packed to the brim with random easter eggs that dont mean much (looking at you, paper pals!).
@@bigstupidgrin I'd say FNAF 4 is pretty clearly meant to have meaning in its easter eggs (it just doesnt do it well), and after SL its usually pretty clear.
Somethings I wanted to point out about CryingShadow (my own personal name for the Crying Child = Shadow Freddy Theory): In Ucn, One of nightmares voice lines was "The Shadow Fears Me" which, if you take the line literally, means that some kind of shadow fears nightmare. One of the only characters to encounter nightmare, and one who would definitely fear him, is the crying child. And, interestingly enough, the only shadow animatronic in the series to be Named as a Shadow Animatronic is Shadow Freddy in FNaF World. Shadow Bonnie Was Named Whatever-the-hell-that-nonsensical-series-of-letters-was in FNaF World and neither were named again (to my knowledge). Admittedly i COULD go further with a few additional connections but I just wanted to bring up some more interesting connections between the two characters.

I think the way shadow Freddy is created goes like this, in the game files for Fnaf 4 Nightmare Night is internally called Shadow Freddy meaning that nightmare in some way, shape, or form shares a connection with shadow freddy. in UCN Nightmare says "I am your wickedness made of Flesh" which if this is William then that must mean that it is possible that shadow Freddy was not actually created by William on purpose rather accidentally threw his own wickedness or the agony he created or whatever you want to call it, which is supported by the fact that in AR when RXQ is defeated he bursts into puffs of shadow remnant as if he's made of it which would by proxy mean that shadow Freddy is also made of it, But thats just my best take.
With this idea I think that Eleanor is a new interpretation of Shadow Freddy, if that is the case Shadow Freddy is the games version of Eleanor. It could make sense because Scott wanted to develop the character (or concept) better, like he has done in the past with other characters. This also explains why a game version of Eleanor have never appear in the games, it doesn’t appear because Eleanor is a new interpretation of Shadow Fredy but in the books.
Could Shadow Freddy be another side of Golden Freddy? If there are two spirits inside of GF then one could be almost rebelling against the other’s goals hence the split of Gold to Purple (Cassidy is the Vengeful Golden Freddy who attacks adult night guards and bite victim is the passive Shadow Freddy who serves Afton his father) However RWQ doesn’t really make sense in this idea
If that were the case that would mean that both the crying child and Elizabeth would be on their father's side and Michael would be the only one against him which which considering Williams original motives I guess it makes sense they would be on his side

Perhaps shadow Bonnie (I’m not even going to try to spell his name) isn’t formed by remnant at all. It’s a possibility that he comes to stop you from getting the remnant as he knows what it can do. Maybe he’s trying to help. A similar thing was stated in the video but very vaguely, and was never elaborated on.

One thing that adds to this is Nightmare’s line in UCN “I am your wickedness, made of flesh”. Shadow Freddy is just the culmination of the murders and the trauma that came with them.
As usual, I really love how your theories are based more on the games. Shadow Freddy in general is one of the less talked characters and I definitely think that he is in some shape or form connected to Afton. One origin that could be connected to Shadow Freddy is if the saferooms were already sealed by FNaF2, then technically Afton could have used the Golden Freddy suit during the DCI. I mean Golden Freddy was seen by the children at least once (as seen in the office drawing of him). So it could be the manifestation of dark remnant or whatever (agony) that accumulated during the DCI, but didn't stick to the Golden Freddy suit. But that raises the question of why didn't whoever is possessing Golden Freddy fight back. Anyways I love you tackling these less talked about topics and such. Things that really interest me though are the other FNaF1-3 eastereggs, that are basically never talked about. The crying child posters in FNaF1, paper pals, springbonnie posters and all that other stuff.
Under this theory, I'd be quicker to compare Shadow Freddy to Death from Castlevania. It's an entity that's egging William on and assisting him, but can still exist without him, especially if Eleanor is him (stitchline games) or based on him in some way (Frights Fiction.) Also, this is easily my favorite Shadow Freddy theory, because it really brings the supernatural element of the series into focus. My interpretation of Remnant and stuff like it has always been that, in universe, the characters are trying to explain the unexplainable, and having an entity like Shadow Freddy, whose existence is explainable but not understandable, really helps that.
(English is not my first language, sorry for the errors XD) The Nightmares are inplied to be based on the plushies, but we never see a plushie for nightmare, he's just a pallete swap of Fredbear, what if Shadow Freddy/Nightmare was Scott's orgininal's intention to what was possesing the Fredbear Plush, before a light retcon gave a more mundane explanation, and what if the Bite Victim saw Shadow Freddy in reality or in his dream or whatever, "What is seen in the shadows is easily misarderstood in the mind of a child", idk it was just a thought that i had, although i do believe that FNaf 4 was originally meant to be a supernatural dream caused by Willian's shadow, and that the protagonist was always Mike and not BV, due to the distorted FNaF 1 Call, your videos are amazing and btw, i, hope you recieve more attention from the FNaF Community !

Under this theory, the reason why Shadow Freddy just sits in the storage room motionlessly could be because he, like the other FNAF 2 spirits, believes that Jeremy is William, so he's patiently waiting for "William" to give him some kind of instruction or command.

Great video. I agree with most of it. The theory I have is a lot like yours that includes 'charlie'... but mine includes a big part that I've see nobody else make the connection to.
Both I believe can be explained by being Agony entities RXQ being the collective agony of the Victims, Shadow Freddy being the Agony of William himself after, probably, the death of the Crying Child. Or hell, could even be the agony of the crying child itself.
I propose a counter theory, Shadow Freddy doesn't follow Afton but the Puppet. Shadow Freddy is 1st seen active in fnaf 2 as is the puppet, he's then seen in fnaf 3 where the puppet is also present, in fnaf 4 he is replaced by the puppet in the halloween update from fnaf 2 and 3 we know they were both in the fnaf 1 location and in pizza sim the puppet is locked inside lefty, a dark recolor of freddy. Though in this theory the puppet does get a bit confusing because it's making this weird shadowy bear to do cover opps stuff on top of hiding away in most of the games it's in but it does still vaguely fit. However it would make a weird sort of sense, the puppet is always in the shadows, hiding in fnaf 1, hiding in the box in fnaf 2, hiding lord knows where in fnaf 3. If it was the puppet making BOTH shadows then we could have a fun dynamic of shadow bonnie and shadow freddy being a weird little angel and devil duo on the puppets shoulders making sure the happiest day it plans comes to fruition.
I haven't watched the video but the idea of shadow Freddy being a stand is both hilarious and kinda interesting on a conceptual level cuz since both the night guard and the animatronics in the 8-bit mini games see him so does that mean their also stand users? also what kind of stand would shadow Fred be? One appearance of Shadow Freddy you forgot is the FNAF 2 cutscenes (the one where you’re the Freddy mask in the FNAF 1 building). If you brighten up the image the mask you’re wearing isn’t normal Freddy’s but rather Shadow Freddy’s, and at the end of one of the cutscenes ERR is seen in the corner which is only ever seen again during the Follow Me minigames. My theory on this is he’s using these nightmares along with the FNAF 4 nightmares to torment Michael and feed off his agony. At one point you mentioned Shadow Freddy doesn’t have a moment where he kills the player in any of the games however Nightmare can crash your game in FNAF 4. Another appearance you might not have forgotten but didn’t really mention is UCN and how Nightmare is in that. A thought I have about this is maybe he’s desperate to obtain agony and is feeding off of his own masters agony. Something you mentioned that I thought was interesting is the idea that Shadow Freddy could’ve latched onto one of the FNAF 6 animatronics. What if he latched onto Charlie/Lefty/the Puppet and Nightmarionne being in HW and scattered around the PizzaPlex is hinting at this. It would make sense because Shadow Freddy is an evil Cassidy and Nightmarionne is an evil Puppet.
Another little connection between Shadow Freddy and Nightmare is that they both repeat Afton's lines. Shadow Freddy repeats "Follow me" and Nightmare says the same lines in UCN as Springtrap in Fnaf AR. Those could have been some things William said to the kids when he killed them or something
Shadow Freddy likely formed from the bite of 83 and gained more Agony from the MCI and williams Experiments in Dittophobia. And to note Nightmare and Shadow Freddy are the same which explains why Nightmare recreates the Experiments in Michaels mind. I dont think hes bounded by Afton i think he just inherits his evil traits.
I think Shadow Freddy being an employee who died in a springlock suit is about the best explanation we have for what he is at the minute, just because it fits in pretty well without disturbing anything (at least as far as I can think of). It would fit with the fact that he’s loyal to Afton, takes on the inverted appearance of Golden Freddy, fit into the “multiple and simultaneous springlock failure” detail, and explain the supernatural elements and things like why it just sits in the FNAF2 storage room randomly. It maybe isn’t a bulletproof explanation, but it’s really the most satisfying one we have for now.
I literally have the best idea of what the hell the Shadows are. So we all know Shadow Freddy is Nightmare, that's confirmed in the code of FNaF 4, And in UCN Nightmare states he's Williams dark reflection. So my theory is that Nightmare/Shadow Freddy is Williams depression, anger or agony, one of those anyway. Hear me out, in the Fazbear Fright novel 'Hide and Seek' Shadow Bonnie is the main antagonist, acting like a depression for the main character. So what if Shadow Freddy pretty much represents Williams anger after losing his son? And the reason why it's Shadow Freddy instead of Shadow Bonnie (A character he has a better connection with) is because Fredbear killed his son. Which is why Shadow Freddy always helps William out, because he's Williams anger, helping him during FNaF 3 and appearing as FNaF 4 as Nightmare to torment Micheal, because William would be anger at him for killing his son. And Shadow Bonnie is Henrys depression, over his daughters death. Which is why it's Shadow Bonnie, because William Afton is known to wear the Spring-Bonnie suit. This is also why Shadow Bonnie helps the kids during FNaF 3, and why he attacks the Night Guard, because he wants to make sure the place is safe.
